Rod Hull was predictably, unpredictable. It was something that was understood when he was booked to appear on a show. Jimmy Savile was simply a broadcasting legend.
Both were thoroughly decent blokes - sadly missed.
You lucky thing, you...you mean you were not only lucky enough to meet Emu but to actually get attacked by him as well?? I'm envious! I lived in England for three years in the early 70's when I was a very small child (I'm in my early 40s now), and I remember that I always got a huge kick out of Rod Hull and Emu...he was one of my favorite people on the television.
What a sad day it was when these true entertainers were taken away from us. Thanks for all the great memorys Rod and Jim......you will be sadly missed but never forgotten
Hey I was also on that show I'm sure! It was the Christmas Eve Special? Do you have the whole show recorded? I must have been a bit later on meeting Rod Hull and Emu with my younger brother (Of all the things I could have written in to do - why Rod Hull and Emu?!!!!) I remember getting food poisoning from the BBC canteen and throwing up on set!! PLEASE let me know if you have the rest of the recording

Brilliant. "That's my ashtray!" - You don't get that on CBeebies!

Jim & Rod - miss you both!!! True, genuinely funny entertainment back then - all we have now is cheap, talentless "reality" garbage...

I refuse to believe that's a puppet. The mannerisms and reactions clearly indicate that the damn thing's alive!

The 70's were the best TV ever, quality programmes made by quality people, only David Attenborough still gets close these days.......

@20meerkat
It was not only utterly legal to beat children in those days, it was encouraged!

You should have laid into that frickin’ Emu, Shane!
You’d have been a hero in every school playground in the land.
