  • Rod Hull was predictably, unpredictable. It was something that was understood when he was booked to appear on a show. Jimmy Savile was simply a broadcasting legend.

Both were thoroughly decent blokes - sadly missed.

  • i love how one moment Emu's fine and next hes attacking u! XD

  • You lucky thing, you...you mean you were not only lucky enough to meet Emu but to actually get attacked by him as well?? I'm envious! I lived in England for three years in the early 70's when I was a very small child (I'm in my early 40s now), and I remember that I always got a huge kick out of Rod Hull and Emu...he was one of my favorite people on the television.

  • Brilliant. "That's my ashtray!" - You don't get that on CBeebies!

  • Jim & Rod - miss you both!!! True, genuinely funny entertainment back then - all we have now is cheap, talentless "reality" garbage...

  • What a sad day it was when these true entertainers were taken away from us. Thanks for all the great memorys Rod and Jim......you will be sadly missed but never forgotten

  • God bless jimll savill he use to raise the moneys for the sick childern. RIP jimmy ;-)

  • I refuse to believe that's a puppet. The mannerisms and reactions clearly indicate that the damn thing's alive!

  • @66hourenergy I refused to believed that about Jimmy Saville.....thats a puppet what Rod Hull has under his right arm......

  • RIP Rod and Jimmy. Made people smile, did not try to be cool.

  • The 70's were the best TV ever, quality programmes made by quality people, only David Attenborough still gets close these days.......

  • Classic

  • Absolute class!

  • Hilarious. Two legends. RIP both.

  • Arguably THE funniest thing ever!!! RIP boys!!!!

  • Don't worry though Emu is very much alive....

  • That felt more Christmas than the rubbish they put on now. R.I.P. both of you.

  • Sad that neither Sir Jim nor Rod Hull are still with us. They're becoming extinct

  • hillarious!!!!

    R.I.P Sir Jimmy Saville

  • They don't make nutcases like these 2 any more.

  • the boy on the end looks a wee bit like James McAvoy (Mr Tumnus) any1 else agree?...but James wasn't born till 1979.

  • Same old act as ever...mind you at least he made that tosser Parkinson look an idiot.

  • Attacking kids! Emu has no shame!

  • @20meerkat

It was not only utterly legal to beat children in those days, it was encouraged!

  • Hey I was also on that show I'm sure! It was the Christmas Eve Special? Do you have the whole show recorded? I must have been a bit later on meeting Rod Hull and Emu with my younger brother (Of all the things I could have written in to do - why Rod Hull and Emu?!!!!) I remember getting food poisoning from the BBC canteen and throwing up on set!! PLEASE let me know if you have the rest of the recording

    Thank you

    Sarah

  • You should have laid into that frickin’ Emu, Shane!

You’d have been a hero in every school playground in the land.
