@illusivetranny GTA 1 was the real innovation, no other game was like it. Today, they're just patching a new storyline to the same 1997 (13 years old!) game mechanics.
@rantanamo I said SNES ie Super Nintendo, the 16 bit one, if it could do StarFox and Mario Kart with the Mode 7 graphics enhancement, the scaling would have been possible. I agree with you there is no way in hell they could have done this on the NES
@ScubaSteveM45 Unfortunately not. Although it looks simple by today's standards, it's one generation ahead of SNES games, even those that used a SuperFX chip. Mario Kart maps were tiny compared to GTA's city, and StarFox didn't even have textures.
I lost interest in the series when I played GTA Vice City. When I was 14 back in 1997, this was the game to have. I will never forget the first time I managed to complete Liberty City. It was awesome.
@RaptormanMT I read an article on 'glitches that created games' recently, it was a top down driving game in the beta stage and the police AI was glitched and went INSANE if you hit them, the game was built around that glitch (pretty much)
memories... I spent hours on the demo

This looked simple enough to have come out on SNES as well if they ever dared to bother.

@ScubaSteveM45
Look at the scaling on the buildings. No way could this be played on an NES.

I wonder if this game was inspired by the OJ chase. I'd bet money on it.

It's entirely possible.
