Beautiful work. I understand the incredible expense, but hopefully they will put it underground. As for noise, these high speed trains will be less noisy than Caltrain is currently. Plus, you won't have to hear the train horn blasting as it comes up to the RR crossing. Faster commute, safer for pedestrians and cars, sounds like a win-win to me.

Fugly for one. Nobody is talking about the noise that will be generated either. Go stand under a BART rail in the East Bay and listen to the racket. Not something you want to live anywhere near. It sure looks pretty but the fact of the matter is it is a BIG UGLY TRAIN running down the heart of the Peninsula. Now think about who is paying for this. WE ARE !! The bond is the state pulling out a credit card that we are paying for. This is complete BS. Fight it !!
HSR will be much quieter than the existing diesel Caltrains and a whisper compared to BART. I say this having traveled on HSR in asia and experiencing the sensation of standing at local stations where bullet trains whiz by the platform at 186mph.
Simple physics and my experience do not support this claim. Leave it the rural areas. At present one does not exist through urban areas (in the world) mostly because the residents fiercely fought it. Check out Paris and Munich for examples. The San Carlos raised CalTrain alignment was partly sold as a noise reduction solution and has instead exacerbated the situation. Do not let them fool you. This project has an extremely bad odor. Check out Quentin Kopp's involvement.

Just build it already. I don't care which alternative is chosen, just as long as we get something!
