  • Lol idiots saying they ruined it.Would you freaking find a freaking shotgun in the middle of nowhere?Or a freaking kantana or axe?

  • Fucking spoilers.

  • this game is irrelevant. Silent hill isn't about these people and their psychology. It goes soo much more deeper than that.

  • did he really say the monsters here are the scariest? the monsters look terrible compared to the previous ones. these mo-fo's are fast, yeah, but they aren't nearly as creative or threatening as some of the previous monsters. even the movie did a better job, and i hate the movie. (not its special effects, tho. love the non-cgi monsters.)

  • compared to other game sites, xplay is the only one that gave it the lowest score...wtf

  • They gave it a 2/5, bleh.

  • x-play's always harsh but they're usually right. the game's still very experimental, however, and so it should still be worth trying. the psych profile thing is a cool concept.

  • Actually this is more realistic, if you're a normal average every day civilian that lost his daughter in a land that is home to monsters, chances are you'd rather hide then take the chance to get killed by the first enemy that comes across your path, and what happens if your fighting the Jeepers Creepers monster? You're fucked if you face it head on.

  • It still looks disapointing. I dont want no combat. I enjoyed the stiff combat of makeshift weapons like the axe, plank of wood and the pipe. It gave a surreal combat, something which you probably would do in that situation. Infact, the gunplay, especially in SH2 was perfect, well the handgun, because James wasnt a master with guns, the HG was steady and slow. But yeah, disapointed greatly.

  • I think you should give it more credit than that. If you're not open to new idea,s you'll never accept any kind of change. Basically don't judge anything until you've done(played) it yourself. Look at it this way. the past couple of SH games have been largely disappointing, since they were made by American dev. Do you want them to keep rehashing the same stuff over again(and continue to fail, trying to emulate Team Silent's work), or take the series in a new direction?

  • I loved homecoming and the room though. I love every silent hill. I love the themes that they take. I love the room's basis of the murders, I love homecomings combat, story, development, graphics. Though the PH thing was screwed up with one ending.

But the point is, I love all the silent hills. They all have great stories and I just love the different styles of silent hill that those games have.

Shattered memories is messing with those games. If heather could shoot a gun, surely....

  • Harry mason could actually fight. If you searching for you daughter who you love and cherish, you dont go under a bed and camp it out. Thats what made silent hill. The sense of realism that the combat brought- naff with firearms because you had no training, you could either have a powerful but slow, or weak but fast attacks with melee.

There ruining silent hill like Crapcom ruined resident evil with RE4 and 5.

It makes me sick that for 10 years+ ive been loyal, and they bring out this.

  • The Room was a great game(had its faults of course), but it still had Team Silent's originality. Homecoming was okay, but it hardly brought anything new to the series besides a few additions that I thought took away from the experience(the combat was more action-oriented, and therefore took away some of the realism), including direct copy & pastes from the SH movie(the nurses/PH, otherworld transition), and too many Jacob's Ladder similarities. But this is all my opinion on it.

  • I agree with the combat, but then looking at it, Alex has just been discharged from the army and is experience in combat!

I liked the nurses from the movie, PH not so much.

  • the nurses in the movie are ripped straight from sh2 and 3. they never come in groups that big, but they do come in pairs or trios a lot. some even have revolvers. the movie PH is just wrong, at least plotwise. he's shameless fanservice. as is every appearance he's made since sh2. the new helmet is understandable, from a movie standpoint tho, because it'd be too hard on the actor to try the game version.

  • And the thing with Shattered Memories is that they are actually adding MORE realism. Yes, of course anybody can shoot a gun. But how often are you going to find random guns and ammunition lying around for you to take in real life? The fact that you have no weapons adds to the fact that Harry(in Shattered M. at least) is really a normal man thrust into a nightmare. It brings more vulnerability and can be alot scarier(if you've ever played Clock Tower). I'm not saying it's something

  • that I would particularly want for SH(I would prefer for them to realize that they could do so much with the basis of SH, without changing too much. For ex., if you haven't seen the fanfilm "Silent Hill: No Escape", I suggest every SH fan go and watch it now. It shows exactly how much potential SH still has and is even better than the real SH movie IMO). But again, its not like its going to become a staple of the series. Its something new, and its different. So lets see what they can do with it.

  • I agree. Pre judgement on my part, but we all pre judge it to influence whether we buy it or not. You cant rent Wii games at blockbuster uk. I dont want to go spend £40 and be disapointed horribly.

Im worried because its the RE4 and RE5 sydnrome; complete changes from yes, a dating formula, but strays too far from the original source to unrecognition. It just erases as of yet, the past 10-11 years worth of the franchise.

  • Yeah I know. I'm just saying don't completely judge it like that is all. And there is a difference between what they did with RE4/5 and what Climax is doing with this game. With RE, they went from the survival horror genre, and then altered it into an action game with horror elements in RE4/5. And therefore they potentially changed the idea of RE entirely. With Shattered Memories, they maintain the same kind of psychological basis that past SH games have had. It's just in a different execution.

  • I don't know if you have it in the UK, but you could look into a gamefly account.

  • they've been gradually moving away from the originals since 4. 4 was more combat oriented, then origins took it a step further with the destructable weapons (which i actually wish they'd keep) and giving you more powerful guns (which i hate), homecoming let you play as a soldier and added RE-style death scenes, etc. it was turning into RE. the lack of combat here is comforting, because it's a major step back from where the series was headed. hopefully it'll find a good balance again soon.

  • Funnily enough i compared this to clock tower in another video thread!

But i see where your coming from, but you would at least take a swipe with a crutch or pipe or wood you find in the shed or on the floor.

I think using a mobile phone is just... I dont know. I dont like it. it doesnt feel silent hill. I prefer the radio and the flashlight. The phone just bugs me for some reason. And thats one thing with SH on hard modes; Absolute ammo conservations, and reliance of melee!

  • Well the point of having the cell phone in the first place is to get rid of any 'Out-of-game' menus. By using the cell phone as a replacement of the menus, it immerses you fully into the game, and therefore there aren't any instances that can remind you of things like "hey, I'm just playing a game." I understand about the random melee weapon, but having any kind of useful weapon would potentially take away from what they're trying to achieve. I get what you're saying though.

  • Oh and sorry for all these really long comments. I just like discussion. Hope you don't mind too much :o

  • they gave him the phone because the time period has changed. this one takes place in present day, whereas the original took place somewhere around 1980, i think. there's timelines you can look up for details, but they're all approximations.

  • yea, i agree. it looks great. but im only seeing this faceless creature. i hope they have way more than just one type of monster, even if the psych profile does slightly alter the creature.

  • ooo i can't wait for it to come out isn't the realease date 5th of november?

  • i thought its the 3rd of novemeber

  • so far im seeing the same monsters over and over silent hill 1,2,3,4 and homecoming had a variety of monsters way scarier than the ones shown.

  • It's still a remake. "Re-imagining" is the epitome of what a remake is.

  • Comment removed

  • its for ps2 and psp too.

  • Looks good can't wait
