Well that was intresting about the sex drive, here I thought it was me. Been on the subs for two yrs. now and lost my drive as well & I was the kind like you hold a snake I'd fuck it. @JAT763 I used to think the same, and for the most part they are the same. The only difference is opioid's contain some synthetic properties (synthetic=man made chemicals) Opiates come straight from the opium poppy and are all natural. wiki answer: Opiates are derived directly from the opium poppy by departing and purifying the various chemicals in the poppy. Opioids include all opiates but also include chemicals that have been synthesised in some way.
iv been doing dilaudid 8 and 4 for 5-6 yrs about 6-8 a day i got off once did sleepers so slept through a lot of the withdrawals i stayed clean about 4 weeks then woke up one Day and started again I'm not sure if I'm happier being numb than not I'm 48 with allot of past abuse i think i seem to have less side effects from ptsd when I'm on them. or is this the addiction rationalizing my use?
@opinionatedchick Good question. I would say it is probably a bit of both. I would suggest seeing a professional therapist and trying to work through your ptsd sober before you conclude opiates are the only cure for you. @ods1ODS Thanks for the comment! I am now back on and continuing the videos! Thank you for caring, its people like you that spur me on in my recovery. Quitting subs will have a little longer withdrawal time, but definitely not as violent as quitting H. Wean yourself to 1mg, after a week or two, stop. You will feel like you have a flu for a couple weeks, not the end of the world.
Thanks so much. I've been on Sub since '05 and am working hard to wean off. I'm down from 32 mg to 3.5 mg. Still have a long way to go, and I've given up before so this time I'm including as much inspiration as I can. It's working. I identify with everything you say and, sheesh, it just feels so nice to not be alone in this. I was put on Sub 4 pain and sometimes wonder if that's kinda unusual. I've never taking an Oxy/Heroin. Kinda feel cheated that I have to w/d and didn't get to get high ;-P

U can do it,,unfortunately, i lowered myself from 8mg a day to 2mg a day in one week (not slow so I suffered very lil) after 5 months i feel better not relying on a pill 2 b NORMAL
lucky u can even get on sub's. in pittsburgh u either cant find a doc cause they dont take yr insurance and charge insane amounts for the visits. or they doc's are all full and not takin any pt's. not good for an addict......love yr videos though

Ive been off my opiates for 3 months now and I know what ya mean about your moods and sex drive. I was only on 18mg of hydromorph contin and some other meds and couldnt deal with the bad dreams and mood swings and living in a zombie state of mind.
My girlfriend is so happy I'm off them now but i find it hard to find other pain management techniques.
I still get jittery if i start to think about them but i know thats ll in my head now.

@hasonopinion Yes, I think we all probably cheat now and then. Personally, I tend to run to it when things get bad...I almost wait for something to justify me taking more and pounce on it. That's when you have to tell yourself you are stronger then the drug and can do without it. I get pissed off at it when I get cravings and tell it to F itself. lol sounds corny but works.

Im on day 2 of my opiate withdrawal and its hell! im rolling back and forth all night not staying still, lower back pains, muscle pain, upset stomach i dont know how much more i can take of this... What to do now that you will be off totally? Offer advice, educate, watch dog, best is link up real pain patients with good doctors. There are still those that say they are trained CP doctors but are fakes and still way under dose patients. Sadly I met one 9 years ago. Of course everyone wants to feel as little withdrawal as possible. Ive been researching the best way to drop and found a blog about dissolving the buprenorphine/suboxone in water and then using a small oral syringe to measure smaller doses. This has really helped!!
@KJWMerz more* I was @ 8mgs for almost a year, then easily dropped to 4 mgs..stayed at that for 2 months. While dropping to 2 mgs I did have a hard time sleeping and anxiety, of course. I think a big point people coming off drugs never disscuss is restitution to others who may have been affected by their drug use, just a thought. I would think it would help many people with forgiving themselves which is very important to loveing yourself and self respect. I was on lots of opiates for chronic pain. Once they prescribed Tramadol , i felt like my prayers were answered. It definately works better than opiates for me but the withdrawals are worse than ANY opiate.
I've just gone back on Opiates and resign myself to being on em for life.

I feel for you, I had to go thru 9, and yes 9 sergiries for my arms and legs. I got prescribed morphine and I got hooked. I quit cold turkey from 5-10mgs I don't remember. I thought the urge to take more, and you know what's the worst part? I was 10 at the time. But my disease keeps putting me in situations like this. I got mccune Albright syndrome and now got severe arthrtitis. I suffer from chronic and they want to give me oxy >_>. well best of luck on your addiction.

Little Tip, besides taking Suboxone you need to do stupid shit like Tanning, Sports etc etc etc - 2 get your Endrophins n shit back. I know it sounds stupid but it works.

@cep32101 soboxone is very painful when you stop taking it abruptly. . i went from taking 2 mgs and quit cold turkey and i never been in more pain in my life. . i didnt sleep for 13 days. it was more painful in my arms and legs and shoulders than when i detoxed from 60mgs of methadone cold turkey! the thing is the halflife is so long you wont start feeling major withdrawal from soboxone for sometimes up to 2 full days. and usually with opiates after 3 days you are already detoxed or close to it

I can't keep hustling for them and am considering subs to fight the withdrawls Wich immobilize me. Did an average insirance plan cover th prescription of am I looking at a large copayment?

weaning off drugs didn't work for me. I just had to STOP USING. And the best way to avoid any future withdrawals was to NOT USE. It is hard, but it gets easier. The thing with quitting alltogether is that it is the last time you will have to do it. I went through terrible withdrawal, lasting for weeks. I was using 240 mg of oxycontin/day, then tried to wean to 512's, but quickly found myself taking 20 pills at a time....yes 20. Weaning didn't work for me, but I am clean now! :)

@hopeandstrength1 I feel that weaning urself down really only works with suboxone. I tried weaning myself with morphine and its way harder to take less than what u need to not withdraw than with suboxone. When i weaned off suboxone i didnt feel any w/d until i actually stopped taking the subs, but after that full blown w/d until i relapsed. Im clean again for now >.<

I am really wondering how you're doing. My husband and I are long term opiate addicts and we were on Buprenorphine(Subs) for a year and a half. We tapered from 8mgs down to a TENTH of a mg a day over the course of 4 mnths. We took our last Bup a yr ago this past Oct, the withdrawals lasted from Oct thru Feb and we couldn't take it anymore and after a yr n a half with NO opies other than the Bup we relapsed and are now back at square one. Subs should be used VERY short term if at all.
yeah man it helps me to read other comments too.....im bout to go from 2mg a day-1 mg a day...and checked online what it looked like for people coming off and most bout 85 percent of people said subuxone is bad and has really bad withdrawls...but again i have talked with a couple of people....also anyone know if its easier to taper down to 1mg and half mg with the 2mg pills?
I've detoxed off methadone, oxys, suboxone, and herion at different times in my life and im only 30. Its been two weeks with no withdrawl since my last attempt at getting clean.. The MOST important thing to remember is getting off opiates is the easy part staying off them once your clean is the really hard part. By all means methadone was the hardest thing to get off of I didnt feel right for weeks, Suboxone was by far less severe.

Thanks so much for sharing your story and research. I'm in the middle of my own rehab. Cut from 160 to 180mg Oxy to 80mg daily 3 weeks ago. 1st week was hell, but now I'm fully functioning on 80 a day. After Thanksgiving I'm taking a 4 day weekend and cutting to 60mg a day. If it goes well after 6 to 8 weeks I'll either quit cold or go to 10 day Suboxone program offered locally (I'm in a rural area). A good friend did the program after 5 years on H and she said it's great. We'll see...

Hey man, I really appreciate this video. I'm 25, been on OC's for about a year and half and in the last month i've been gradually weening myself off. At my worst, I was taking about 60mg a day. (about 3/4's of an 80mg oxy) The withdrawals were the worst around days 2 thru 3. I'm currently down to about 15mg a day. It's an ongoing struggle for me.

@jcali619 pain pill addiction is impossible to live with. Its NOT cirggerettes. Try 10 pills a day at 8 dollars each. Thats 80 bucks a day!!! The money alone is a reason to quit. beer, smokes, all easy to get and LEGAL. try finding oxy's when your doc wont give them to you. Its a bullshit lifestyle. Not teh same as drinking. I cant go to the store and buy pain pills. And people on pain pills are SO selfish and careless. I didnt care about anything. I was numb.

Nice Job My Freind......I broke my back and pelvic bone racing motocross and got hooked on Oxys quick! It was a 2 year battle to get off of them which i did cold turkey. It was a very rough 5 days for sure. I drank Old #7 for 3 days straight at night to calm the storms. It was so nice to want to chase women again, in fact, I met a great girl who I love greatly which has helped(I know this seems fucked up, but those who have been hooked on pain pills will understand). Just never give up the fight

@Peanutdenver Thanx, yeah alcohol is the way 2 go just in general (just keep it to a weekend social thing).. Valium is the way to get off opiates though, then exercise to get your endorphins back. It takes a few weeks to feel all the way normal not a year, unless u taper grandpa style.

i just cant understand why teenagers who are not in daily pain are trying pain meds. i know why but what im saying is why do they want that monkey on their back? ive dealt with it for years now because i came down with bone cancer and back surgeries. i wished there was something better than pain medicine out there to help with chronic pain rather than narcotics. i went to detox one time and got off the strong meds but was up all night screaming in pain. damn if you do and damn if you dont.

I don't know what to do anymore to get off 8 to 12 vic's & norco's daily for a lil over a year now. At most times, I feel like a walking dead man. Never had an addiction, I could'nt give up like weed or cigarettes. I pray for all who are goin thru this although I don't know if I can prey my way out.

To everyone---suboxone is much easier to kick than anything like percs, vics, etc. When you're on suboxone, you don't care about getting high---the cravings are little to NONE. Try it! Much cheaper than street drugs! You can take it for a year or so, but stop after that (Recommended)...
in oklahoma they charge $500 for the first doctors appt. and $150 after the first. plus the cost of suboxone. doctors are making a killing in oklahoma from suboxone.
My insurance covers it. I did not think about those whose insurance does not cover it. Still, that sounds cheaper and gives you a better life than street drugs....right?
currently i am very addicted to oxycodone and every other opiate i can get my hands on. In order to feel normal in the morning i have to blow 2 80's and the worst part is it doesnt get me high it just makes me normal.... I started 3 years ago with 3 percs at a time and mow im 19 and doing upwards of 10 80s a day. I am on day 2 of cold turkey my question is....will i deff be out of pain by day 7? or will the pain and lethargy continue?????? im so scarded that i will still be in pain :(
All I have to say is congratulations and thank you for giving me hope for my little sister. She is badly addicted to Oxy and Percs 80 mgs a day to survive. She is an amazing girl, and its good to see other people can get away from the life consuming addiction of opiates. Keep going! All the respect in the world for you, thank you again!
i was on suboxone for 6th months an i went down to 1 mg 4 2 months. it dont get bad till u are completly off of it. 1mg an 8 mg are like the same ur going to kick no matter what. i kick for a month off of sub compared to what it would of been off of oxys of 8 days. go to a prog

The only difference is opioid's contain some synthetic properties (synthetic=man made chemicals) Opiates come straight from the opium poppy and are all natural. wiki answer: Opiates are derived directly from the opium poppy by departing and purifying the various chemicals in the poppy. Opioids include all opiates but also include chemicals that have been synthesised in some way.

iv been doing dilaudid 8 and 4 for 5-6 yrs about 6-8 a day i got off once did sleepers so slept through a lot of the withdrawals i stayed clean about 4 weeks then woke up one Day and started again I'm not sure if I'm happier being numb than not I'm 48 with allot of past abuse i think i seem to have less side effects from ptsd when I'm on them. or is this the addiction rationalizing my use?

I would suggest seeing a professional therapist and trying to work through your ptsd sober before you conclude opiates are the only cure for you. Quitting subs will have a little longer withdrawal time, but definitely not as violent as quitting H. Wean yourself to 1mg, after a week or two, stop. You will feel like you have a flu for a couple weeks, not the end of the world.

Thanks so much. I've been on Sub since '05 and am working hard to wean off. I'm down from 32 mg to 3.5 mg. Still have a long way to go, and I've given up before so this time I'm including as much inspiration as I can. It's working. I identify with everything you say and, sheesh, it just feels so nice to not be alone in this. I was put on Sub 4 pain and sometimes wonder if that's kinda unusual. I've never taking an Oxy/Heroin. Kinda feel cheated that I have to w/d and didn't get to get high ;-P

Ive been off my opiates for 3 months now and I know what ya mean about your moods and sex drive. I was only on 18mg of hydromorph contin and some other meds and couldnt deal with the bad dreams and mood swings and living in a zombie state of mind.
My girlfriend is so happy I'm off them now but i find it hard to find other pain management techniques.
I still get jittery if i start to think about them but i know thats ll in my head now.

@hasonopinion Yes, I think we all probably cheat now and then. Personally, I tend to run to it when things get bad...I almost wait for something to justify me taking more and pounce on it. That's when you have to tell yourself you are stronger then the drug and can do without it. I get pissed off at it when I get cravings and tell it to F itself. lol sounds corny but works.

What to do now that you will be off totally? Offer advice, educate, watch dog, best is link up real pain patients with good doctors. There are still those that say they are trained CP doctors but are fakes and still way under dose patients. Sadly I met one 9 years ago. I have been wanting to get off this shit for a while, been on it over a year, 2 years on methadone prior, and a few years heroin before that.. Of course everyone wants to feel as little withdrawal as possible. Ive been researching the best way to drop and found a blog about dissolving the buprenorphine/suboxone in water and then using a small oral syringe to measure smaller doses. This has really helped!!

I think a big point people coming off drugs never disscuss is restitution to others who may have been affected by their drug use, just a thought. I would think it would help many people with forgiving themselves which is very important to loveing yourself and self respect. I was on lots of opiates for chronic pain. Once they prescribed Tramadol , i felt like my prayers were answered. It definately works better than opiates for me but the withdrawals are worse than ANY opiate.
I've just gone back on Opiates and resign myself to being on em for life.
If your trying to get off and can live without opiates, I wish you the best of luck @opiatehelp. Once the emotions start to come back, you know that clean is just around the corner, The lingering depression was bad.

I feel for you, I had to go thru 9, and yes 9 sergiries for my arms and legs. I got prescribed morphine and I got hooked. I quit cold turkey from 5-10mgs I don't remember. I thought the urge to take more, and you know what's the worst part? I was 10 at the time. But my disease keeps putting me in situations like this. I got mccune Albright syndrome and now got severe arthrtitis. I suffer from chronic and they want to give me oxy >_>. well best of luck on your addiction.

@cep32101 soboxone is very painful when you stop taking it abruptly. . i went from taking 2 mgs and quit cold turkey and i never been in more pain in my life. . i didnt sleep for 13 days. it was more painful in my arms and legs and shoulders than when i detoxed from 60mgs of methadone cold turkey! the thing is the halflife is so long you wont start feeling major withdrawal from soboxone for sometimes up to 2 full days. and usually with opiates after 3 days you are already detoxed or close to it

weaning off drugs didn't work for me. I just had to STOP USING. And the best way to avoid any future withdrawals was to NOT USE. It is hard, but it gets easier. The thing with quitting alltogether is that it is the last time you will have to do it. I went through terrible withdrawal, lasting for weeks. I was using 240 mg of oxycontin/day, then tried to wean to 512's, but quickly found myself taking 20 pills at a time....yes 20. Weaning didn't work for me, but I am clean now! :)

I tried weaning myself with morphine and its way harder to take less than what u need to not withdraw than with suboxone. When i weaned off suboxone i didnt feel any w/d until i actually stopped taking the subs, but after that full blown w/d until i relapsed. Im clean again for now >.<

I am really wondering how you're doing. My husband and I are long term opiate addicts and we were on Buprenorphine(Subs) for a year and a half. We tapered from 8mgs down to a TENTH of a mg a day over the course of 4 mnths. We took our last Bup a yr ago this past Oct, the withdrawals lasted from Oct thru Feb and we couldn't take it anymore and after a yr n a half with NO opies other than the Bup we relapsed and are now back at square one. Subs should be used VERY short term if at all.

yeah man it helps me to read other comments too.....im bout to go from 2mg a day-1 mg a day...and checked online what it looked like for people coming off and most bout 85 percent of people said subuxone is bad and has really bad withdrawls...but again i have talked with a couple of people....also anyone know if its easier to taper down to 1mg and half mg with the 2mg pills?

I've detoxed off methadone, oxys, suboxone, and herion at different times in my life and im only 30. Its been two weeks with no withdrawl since my last attempt at getting clean.. The MOST important thing to remember is getting off opiates is the easy part staying off them once your clean is the really hard part. By all means methadone was the hardest thing to get off of I didnt feel right for weeks, Suboxone was by far less severe.

Dude ive keep goin back too.You get that thought that you only need a small amount to get high which is way cheaper than what your used to and you tell yourself you can just do it once but we both know it doesnt work that way. hey hey, so im currently dying from these damn sub.withdrawals i was on 6mg for like almost a year and a half . i just weened my self off it this past month like doc said. have been completely off it for 5-6 days i was given clonodine or whatever to help. and it does not. the whole muscle/ joint ache thing is what kills me the most,. so my question is what other shit can i take/eat to help w/ the pain and weakness.if anyone actually knows what works bsides exercise and ib-p's plz tell! thanx

Thanks so much for sharing your story and research. I'm in the middle of my own rehab. Cut from 160 to 180mg Oxy to 80mg daily 3 weeks ago. 1st week was hell, but now I'm fully functioning on 80 a day. After Thanksgiving I'm taking a 4 day weekend and cutting to 60mg a day. If it goes well after 6 to 8 weeks I'll either quit cold or go to 10 day Suboxone program offered locally (I'm in a rural area). A good friend did the program after 5 years on H and she said it's great. We'll see...

Hey man, I really appreciate this video. I'm 25, been on OC's for about a year and half and in the last month i've been gradually weening myself off. At my worst, I was taking about 60mg a day. (about 3/4's of an 80mg oxy) The withdrawals were the worst around days 2 thru 3. I'm currently down to about 15mg a day. It's an ongoing struggle for me.

@jcali619 pain pill addiction is impossible to live with. Its NOT cirggerettes. Try 10 pills a day at 8 dollars each. Thats 80 bucks a day!!! The money alone is a reason to quit. beer, smokes, all easy to get and LEGAL. try finding oxy's when your doc wont give them to you. Its a bullshit lifestyle. Not teh same as drinking. I cant go to the store and buy pain pills. And people on pain pills are SO selfish and careless. I didnt care about anything. I was numb.

Nice Job My Freind......I broke my back and pelvic bone racing motocross and got hooked on Oxys quick! It was a 2 year battle to get off of them which i did cold turkey. It was a very rough 5 days for sure. I drank Old #7 for 3 days straight at night to calm the storms. It was so nice to want to chase women again, in fact, I met a great girl who I love greatly which has helped(I know this seems fucked up, but those who have been hooked on pain pills will understand). Just never give up the fight

@Peanutdenver Thanx, yeah alcohol is the way 2 go just in general (just keep it to a weekend social thing).. Valium is the way to get off opiates though, then exercise to get your endorphins back. It takes a few weeks to feel all the way normal not a year, unless u taper grandpa style.

i just cant understand why teenagers who are not in daily pain are trying pain meds. i know why but what im saying is why do they want that monkey on their back? ive dealt with it for years now because i came down with bone cancer and back surgeries. i wished there was something better than pain medicine out there to help with chronic pain rather than narcotics. i went to detox one time and got off the strong meds but was up all night screaming in pain. damn if you do and damn if you dont.

I don't know what to do anymore to get off 8 to 12 vic's & norco's daily for a lil over a year now. At most times, I feel like a walking dead man. Never had an addiction, I could'nt give up like weed or cigarettes. I pray for all who are goin thru this although I don't know if I can prey my way out.

i hope you are doing better ive dealt with addiction for years now. and even in the small town i live in we lost another young woman to drug overdose this morning. last saturday a guy i knew was in a drug deal gone bad and got shot twice in the head in front of his eleven year old son and killed. its a epedimec now god bless.

To everyone---suboxone is much easier to kick than anything like percs, vics, etc. When you're on suboxone, you don't care about getting high---the cravings are little to NONE. Try it! Much cheaper than street drugs! You can take it for a year or so, but stop after that (Recommended)...

currently i am very addicted to oxycodone and every other opiate i can get my hands on. In order to feel normal in the morning i have to blow 2 80's and the worst part is it doesnt get me high it just makes me normal.... I started 3 years ago with 3 percs at a time and mow im 19 and doing upwards of 10 80s a day. I am on day 2 of cold turkey my question is....will i deff be out of pain by day 7? or will the pain and lethargy continue?????? im so scarded that i will still be in pain :(

i was on suboxone for 6th months an i went down to 1 mg 4 2 months. it dont get bad till u are completly off of it. 1mg an 8 mg are like the same ur going to kick no matter what. i kick for a month off of sub compared to what it would of been off of oxys of 8 days. go to a prog
