I remember listening to this with a good head on and the VUs peaking! It was a different time but Jim "Dandy" Mangrum still sounds good. I always thought this LP was better than "High on the Hog"
I LOVE THIS STUFF!! WE PLAYED IT AS AN OPENING SONG WHEN I WAS A ROCK STAR. (LOL) relax now, no bs comments. our second song was "The Rover" i jammed with some most excellent musicians. back in the day.
i saw them to back in the 70s with edgar winter and some jack ass cut the power it realy sucked the whole croud in the concert were pissed so was i but they still kept on playin without power and we wre high as hell everyone was passin the weed around so it was ok.
@SanJoseCraig100 That's a little funny. The Album came out in 1971 but you didn't start listening to it until 1972. I bet you didn't listen to Steve Miller's "The Joker" until 1974 then.
i grew up on this stuff to. i still have the albums, inherited them from my dad when he passed. i got a whole cabinet full of vinyl, even have the original new riders- purple sage who never made it, but their song hard to handle became a hit when the black crows redid it. love all this old stuff and need to find a good record player so i can listen to it all again. i miss those crackles you get with vinyl, guess im just getting old lol
I grew up on yhis shit man,my grandma used to bitch about this song, and others(Jesus is Just Alright by The Doobie Brothers and Spirit In The Sky by Norman Greenbaum)....WOW....Memories!
@MrJDCasey i first heard boa while riding with some dude thru mississippi at 2am in 73 or 74 and was hooked and now 37 yrs later i still enjoy their unique hillbilly rock sound .they are like a fine exspensive wine that few people ever heard of .
@MrJDCasey I WAS 12 YEARS OLD VEIT NAM WAS JUST OVER THE GUYS WERE COMEN HOME AND THAT WHEN I MET BLACK OAK AND A FLOWER FROM SOUTH EAST ASIA THAT WOULD BOOGIEE WOOGIEE ON UR BRAIN
@MrJDCasey Me too! I actually drove to Black Oak one time just to party with Jimmy and the gang! I'd love to tell a lie, but truth is we had great time riding around looking and listening to BOA. Love from a former Marion, Arkansas BOA lover!
omg, I didn't see this up, Julie D. I love you honey, I miss him too, please forgive the shadow of the host he was and remains our unified purpose as living out and becoming one again.
Beaker Street! Where have ye gone?! Itchycoo Park, Little Green Bag, Let It All Hang Out, and on & on.

First heard on "Beaker Street"
("an underground music service
of the LIN Broadcasting Corporation"),
KAAY 1090-AM, Little Rock AR
long before they were 'popular'.
Invariably, it was followed-up with
"When Electricity Came To Arkansas"
from the same album.
I was 14 at the time; to paraphrase Jimi Hendrix,
I "never heard surf music again".

@MrJDCasey
You must have had a young grandma. Mine died in 1990 at age 90. I never played this stuff for her.
She would have probably flipped out.
