I liked the challenge of Colosseum because you didn't have to go into areas with no more trainers, just wild pokemon, and train for hours with a pokemon you JUST GOT for a gym. The first game actually had a balance of pokemon you oculd catch making things really unique, and trainers rematched you in some areas like Gold and Silver. Truth be told I think the handhelds are somewhat stale, I use to love pokemon... but it became boring. Colosseum revived some of that... though it does have problems.
well i had a idea some years ago with a sorta of mmo pokemon game in which you catch pokemon or tansfer them (which ever you prefer) then you fully control the pokemon you can block someattacks dodge others and imput certain button combinations in order to do special attacks ( hyper beam, solar beam, fire blast etc) other moves like tackel or bound or ding would be done with one or two button combinations. it was a random idea but it might work if you work on it and tweak it a lot
You know, i don't think the Pokemon MMO would be a rip-off, i don't see any Elf's.

This also allows moves to differ beyond damage and type, and allow for different kinds of AOE "shapes", as well as in range. Trainers can also have Fallout-ish traits, random or chosen

I don't want to sound like a know it all, but there is this thing that some gamecubes come with which is called gameboy player which had a gameboy game slot and lets you play gameboy games on your TV so just remake that for whatever game system you want your mmo for

I think for the parties, you can be a member of multiple parties, but not host more than one party, and a party can't have the exact same members as another party. :D
Gyarados is a water flying type but in the original games grass was not very effective because gyarados was originally going to be a water dragon type

I've always found it funny how they never made a decent console version, when games with similar catch and collect concepts work rather well, and in cases with games such as Jade Cocoon, have a coherent storyline to go with it. Seriously, it came out on the PS1 check it out and see what I mean, I really did consider that game the poke'mon for the older audiance.

Weeeeell I think that Pokemon Battle Revolution was mistaken to be something else. PBR wasn't, and didn't want to be another Stadium / XD, it was more like an expansion of Diamond and Pearl. The game existed primarily to allow you to battle in random matchups online, wich you couldn't do in D/P because you needed the friend codes. And for that reason, you could take the pokemon from the handheld games to the Wii.
I think the music was also pretty great. I still love listening to some tracks.
I want a game where the bad guys unite (team rocket,team aqua & magma,team galactic, team plasma) and I want the childhood friend or rival to join that team.
I think what most people want is better online capabilities of PBR and the variety of Stadium in one game for all five generations...that's what Nintendo should be doing...not these ridiculous spin-off games.
The only other gripe I have, is with how your theory of an MMO for Pokemon, doesn't take certain things into account: Server Stress for regions and locations, Griefers, Utilizing Pokemon Abilities like Surf or Fly, aquiring "Legendaries", how 15 people could challenge 1 gym leader without there being an a problem, Pokemon available in each region...
... but here's a thought: What would happen if all your Pokemon lost to a Wild or Legendary Pokemon?
I heard another Youtuber a long time ago, ask why Pokemon couldn't have a "Battle Style" similar to Mega Man Battle Network... personally, I find that statement to still hold true, even now: The ability to dodge moves, attempt to counter opponents' moves, with minimal field space available (But more believable than how it looks on the consoles ATM... huge stadiums, but they basically only stay in place, or shuffle a bit)...
Pokemon battles in that style, could probably work well.

Actually, you could choose which Pokemon you wanted in Battle Revolution, because you can copy them off the DS. Also, are you SURE you want to give people that option? I don't want to go online and face people with six Deoxys. The whole point of getting tough Pokemon is to work hard to get them.

Okay, I've seen some good ideas but the only thing I disagreed is the Pokemon console games, except revolution since I never played it. But the reason I disagree was because it was a break and different from the same old shit of the handhelds. They're great and all, but they're getting old. I like something more interesting to do besides be Pokemon Master after saving the world. Plus I liked the 3D thing. Freedom of handhelds+ Coloseum(ish) purpose (without the snagging) = great

@zibulewsky You forgot the fact that Pikachu loses to a Pokemon of a new Generation (Example: the battle between Pikachu and Snivy in the Pokemon Black & White anime) despite that Pikachu should be at a MUCH higher level (most likely at level 70, if not higher) than said Pokemon of the new Generation (which usually should be at level 1)!
Battle Revolution sucks. With the release of a new generation, they could have at least gave us a pokemon stadium game, which would play like stadium. No, they gave us Battle revolution, where you get weak, middle-form pokemon and Bidoof *shudder*, but also gave us 400 pairs of shoes to choose from.
The main thing that bugged me about XD was EVERYFUCKINGBATTLE was a DOUBLE battle. Sure, theyre cool but WHY EVERY ONE? (other than wild pokemon, even though they were a hastle and there were onle NINE OF THEM.
i felt like you were being a bit too harsh on battle revoloution. the wi-fi wasnt tht bad, you could use ds's as controllers and the different battle types in single player were brilliant. only problem was that you needed to own a pokemon game on ds and to have done well on it to get a good chance of winning.
I think the storylines were one of the main reasons, as the people playing the games have grown up, the plots really haven't. You could take the plot from the earliest games and they are, more or less, identical to the latest ones..

XD gale of darkness was my first pokemon game. I loved sooo much. I used shiftry and walrein and my two main guys.
Comparing it to handheld games, its not that great. Very few wild pokemon, no gyms, no elite four, no post-game.
I still love it.

On you map, if Sinnoh is at the top of Japan I can tell that Orre is somewhere in Egypt...
Also, i like your ideas but I am a pokemon XD fan and you would get a good game if you add the wild pokemon in the grass, like you want, and throw away snagging, also what you want. But you need to keep shadow pokemon! Pokemon that are super powerful against all others are win and though making them normal is a pain in the ass thay still are cool.

@Gohan3323 I honestly think the series will die soon. people aren't stupid (or at least not always). they know when a series is copy and pasta. I'm a huge pokemon fan and as much as i hate to say it, pokemon is becoming a copy and paste series. it NEEDS to change soon.

Actually, you could choose which Pokemon you wanted in Battle Revolution, because you can copy them off the DS. Also, are you SURE you want to give people that option? I don't want to go online and face people with six Deoxys. The whole point of getting tough Pokemon is to work hard to get them.

i disagree with most of his MMO ideas. you could deffinately make it a turn based MMO. Wisards101 did it and i think that game had pretty good gameplay. and i dont like his class ideas BLEH. no no no..... i wana be just a trainer. nothing else. but make the trainers image super customizable. yeeaah that id like (im girly like that lol)

Okay, I've seen some good ideas but the only thing I disagreed is the Pokemon console games, except revolution since I never played it. But the reason I disagree was because it was a break and different from the same old shit of the handhelds. They're great and all, but they're getting old. I like something more interesting to do besides be Pokemon Master after saving the world. Plus I liked the 3D thing. Freedom of handhelds+ Coloseum(ish) purpose (without the snagging) = great

@zapcatzach I never said I was, I love pokemon don't get me wrong, I just liked the break of the old runt of the games. Plus I'm a bit more of a story oriented player, I like the story more. That was all. Then again, its all just MO and I respect Josh's since I can see it from his view as well. It's all just style we all like. Never said to have the console games to take over pokemon but would like to have a few more just for the fun of it. :3

@zibulewsky You forgot the fact that Pikachu loses to a Pokemon of a new Generation (Example: the battle between Pikachu and Snivy in the Pokemon Black & White anime) despite that Pikachu should be at a MUCH higher level (most likely at level 70, if not higher) than said Pokemon of the new Generation (which usually should be at level 1)!

I know you hate Okami, Joshscorcher, but it did have some good ideas.
Like separate field and battle gameplays. That would work well in a pokemon MMO. My brother and I have a ton more ideas about a pokemon MMO as well.

Battle Revolution sucks. With the release of a new generation, they could have at least gave us a pokemon stadium game, which would play like stadium. No, they gave us Battle revolution, where you get weak, middle-form pokemon and Bidoof *shudder*, but also gave us 400 pairs of shoes to choose from.

The main thing that bugged me about XD was EVERYFUCKINGBATTLE was a DOUBLE battle. Sure, theyre cool but WHY EVERY ONE? (other than wild pokemon, even though they were a hastle and there were onle NINE OF THEM.

i felt like you were being a bit too harsh on battle revoloution. the wi-fi wasnt tht bad, you could use ds's as controllers and the different battle types in single player were brilliant. only problem was that you needed to own a pokemon game on ds and to have done well on it to get a good chance of winning.

I think the storylines were one of the main reasons, as the people playing the games have grown up, the plots really haven't. You could take the plot from the earliest games and they are, more or less, identical to the latest ones..
