This is clearly not better than Fat Kids on Fire... his voice were not on point: he accidentally fluctuated between voices that did not correspond to the correct character, and the direction of his popping was sometimes off. Is he a beast? Yes! Of course! Did he deserve to win over Fat Kids on Fire? No. Sorry.

Jake and Carrot, I have to disagree with you both. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so I am not bashing yours, simply stating mine. Not only did I think that this was an exceptional performance and deserving of 2nd if not 1st, but I also thought that this was one of the best humors I've ever seen. The simplicity of the selection mixed with a mastery of comedic timing, character development and emotion provides for an outstanding piece that is incredibly deserving of the final ranking.

I don't believe this is nationals quality either, mr carrot is sorta correct. This piece was not good. And the reason why it's not good is because it wasn't funny. I found the characters not well differentiated and the humor to be way too dry to even be in the final round and I didn't laugh or even smile once at this piece. His tech was off except for the father character and his pops were sloppy. Definetely deserving of 5th or maybe 4th

@Totalopinion I thought this kid had a ton of talent...but he was the clear choice for runner up. Technically, most of his voices sounded alike; there were moments where blocking was missing from the characters completely. The pops werent as sharp as in ..."Fat Kids" either. Overall it didn't show the same level of polish. That said, I think he did an amazing job with an odd piece that most performers couldnt take very far. It didnt play enough off of the whole awkward teenager vibe he exuded

Very unique style. I liked it a lot. I thought he and Lindsey were close. They had very different styles so I thought it was hard to choose a winner. BOTH should have been champions! They both clearly stood above the rest of the round. Zade is an affable competitor and stellar performer. Congrats!

Lindsey deserved to win just cuz she was so epic, but Zade did give her a run for her money in the final round and was clearly 2nd. Their scores show it best: Lindsey scored 1111112222334 (24) and Zade scored 1112222222334 (27).  It was clear that Lindsey shouldve gotten 1st as she got the most 1s and that Zade shouldve gotten 2nd because he got the most 2s. Its hard to argue with the most legit judge panel you can possibly have. It was very close but I think the top 3 turned out exactly right.

after a piece does well at the national level, it is very common to see exact copies pop up all over the place. although it is rather annoying, there isnt anything that can be done about it. i remember how many ant farms i saw last year. so annoying. anyway, i thought this piece was the bomb.

This was a very good piece, his transitions were wonderful. I think that it was unconventional. It didn't have as much hardcore humor as I would have expected in a Finals HI. That's the only negative that I can think of. What took it to finals was its great unique qualities, plus Zade's talent. A good piece, but maybe not worthy of 1st.

THE WHOLE PIECE IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY. NOT JUST START IN THE MIDDLE. and that is why this didn't win. i actually think 2nd place is higher then deserved. i love fat kids on fire. deff diserved it. WAY better then this.

as weird as it sounds, an HI is not only about being funny. its about presenting a compelling and easy to follow story with good characters. Fat Kids On Fire was hilarious, probably funnier than this one, but in my opinion, this HI was done better. i honestly saw it as a toss up between the two for 1st. seems like several people wanted this to win and several wanted FKOF. regardless of how it turned out, both were incredible and deserve the highest praise. congrats to both :)

one of the nicest dudes i've met. definitely deserved a spot up on that stage, but my opinion is that he should've won. i like his style and pace. so unique. overall, extraordinary. my teacher shows this to her speech class as an example of what to do for a humorous.

I may have a different definition than invrcuss on why this will revolutionize HI but this is my thought: This is so different than traditional HIs. We are so used to seeing loud and crazy pieces that are all over the place. Not only are his transitions unique, but his whole style is. It is a very calm and easy to follow piece with distinguished characters and meaningful humor. I think we will definitely see more of this style in the future. Simply put: he was brilliant.
