a computer usefullness has 2 do with ur actions. a mac is usefull as is a pc if what your doing can be done on that machine. i can surf the net on both but i just choose mac. i can edit photos on both but in the end i choose mac. why, i just like the feel of the os but both windows and mac are the same until you get down to serious things that the underbelly of each beast starts to show. even i know that some games work better on pc then on mac. but both machines r able to do the same things

I used Vista at first for gaming, but then I decided to re-install XP and dualboot (Vista for Office appls and a few other things, XP for more casual stuff and playing), as my graphics were choppier than in XP, since the drivers for Vista sucked.

Nowadays, with my new Macbook Black, I'm using that one for Vista and Office and for using MacOS of course, while the PC I have will remain for gaming (though it's become a bit long in the tooth).

Great. BUt when i tried to load the XP using boot camp. I was prompted to a blue screen which read "press enter to continue" I pressed entr on my mac keyboard and no signal was sent. It did not work. I tried the return button and then enter button on the numeric keypad.

steve, i went into the apple store to buy a macbook, but was instantly drawn to the imac. I'll list the benefits of the 1099 macbook to the 1199 imac. The imac has a dedicated graphics card, a large harddrive, and also a great screen and a superdrive. If you don't need a laptop, go for the iMac. The protection plan for the iMac is about 150 dollars less for the imac and doesn't cover falls on either. that should tell you something about quality.

So I'll be making the move to iMac (well I'm 80% sure 60% is for Logic 8) I'd just like to know about one thing that will bug me.

The Back and forth buttons (mouse.b 4&5) is there a function key I can press that will allow the same function with the Mac? You see I'm trying out Safari atm (since last week) and its just a little upsetting it doesn't recognise those mouse buttons, being I use the buttons alot for zooming back and forward on webpages.

Get an imac blahdabbadoo. You will never regret it. And Logic 8 is fantastic. I was never a huge fan of Logic 7, but 8.... It is just grand.

Also, if you do any type of video editing, final cut is equally fantastic. I learned pretty much everything in FCP within a week by editing a music video.

you're right! I saw the pictures of the disassembled imac (they took off the screen with strong suction) and I saw two speakers. The sound leaks through the bottom I'm guessing through the vent slots/holes.

the keyboard, i find, is the same as my macbook pro keyboard, its at a very good angle for me and i love it, the keys are spread well enough apart for me. Update 3 is up by the way, check it out!
