If you read what was posted in the down bar, it says that the team nicknamed this stunt the "helicopter" because it looked like a helicopter. A true helicopter toss is where the flyer is on her stomach and is tossed up, making a 360 degree rotation before being caught on her stomach again.

a helicopter is legal as long as it doesn't complete a full 360 degrees. can only rotate to 180 degrees and must have a certain number of bases catching now.

Or if to many ppl have had an injury from that certain stunt, or even died from it,

They will make it illegal.

& Legal stunts are perfectly safe- You do what your expose to,

This is not illegal due to the fact that backspot stays in contact with the flyer at all times. However, rules and regulations vary regionally, so it might not be legal in your division/region/level.

@zuleyma4 Hi! Thanks for the comment! Stunts are made illegal based on different restrictions by whoever is holding the competition. Level also depends on what is illegal and legal. You usually declare a level based on the skills that your team and coaches have, or you are given a level based on your team/school size. In each level there are different rules and restrictions as to what you can and cannot do. I hope this helps clarify things even though it's a little bit vague!

@zuleyma4 also some are illegal for some certain age groups because some age groups are to young and can get hurt from some crazy flips and stuff like for my age group we flip a girl in a pyramid we have to hold their hands at al times and if a girl in are team moves in her spot the stunt becomes automatically illegal but luckly when we performed that move we did it exactly like we were supossed to

@gymnastfreakchick23 In New York State, the divisions aren't set-up by levels, they are set-up by school size. So we were Class AA Large Varsity. I would assume we probably would have categorized ourselves as level 4 if we had competed Nationally. You are right, though, in our level we weren't permitted to do the "real" helicopters like in Bring It On. We just nicknamed this stunt the helicopter because we thought the girls being thrown looked like helicopter blades.

No, that wouldn't be considered illegal. Notice how the frontspot is holding onto the flyer the whole time as she changes stunt groups. If the frontspot wasn't holding onto her, then it would be illegal.
