one thing i do hate is that the archers are WAY too powerful in this game and there are always RIDICULOUS amounts of them. like at least 3 archers for every foot soldier

dynasty warriors 7 is the first dynasty warriors game i've played in a while and i'm loving it the story mode REALLY good,i like the weapons system,and conquest mode is good and fun the only problem i have with the game is no free mode.

@zz4r extreme legends is rly bad... emmpires is a lot better u can invade and defend your own lands promote generals and legends its just a little story based (it sucks)

Ever noticed that Dynasty Warriors games have gotten worst since it hit the PS3 franchise? I think Dynasty Warriors 5 was the last great Dynasty Warriors game in the series.
hey you can get +8 on conquest mode, i got a few times.... it's really rare, but i have gotten it sometimes... still pisses me off how most of the time you get +2 or +1 though...

@Saber0003 Actually they are going to release a Dynasty Warriors 7 Xtreme Legends which will include a 2 player story mode, free mode, and much more. It has a North America release date of Nov 15 and Nov 18 Date for Europe. I was disappointed too when I heard about being forced to play a character and with one player but once I played It changed my mind. You Might want to give this game a chance for rent. Many think it is the best in the series with me agreeing too
@samuraiman26 Honestly, I'd like to give DW7 a chance, but I don't have access to rent games, and without a Co-op mode, or free mode, I'm not giving them my money. Maybe when DWX7 comes out, I'll give it chance.
@Saber0003 Ok thank you for reading my comment. I just wanted to give you two warnings. 1. That you will need to load a Dw7 disc in to get the 2 player mode in the expansion but since it is coming out in Nov you can get in in the used bin or something for cheap and 2. that so far Dw7xl is so far a ps3 exclusive due to problems with mixjoy(import) on Xbox so if you get Dw7 you might want to get the ps3 version if possible. They are looking to trying to do an Xbox 360 version according to Koei but they are just having problems so I would just wait and hope they announce it for Xbox. Sorry for bothering you. I can blame you though dw6 was a mess. I was reluctant to trust this too but Thankfully they put most peoples weapons back and the weapon switch system is genius.

I loved the review and agree with pretty much all your views now if only someone could some how get koei to see your review and they actually had the attention span to follow your advice. I did love the game and can't wait for empires though it may be a ripoff but character creation and the LITTLE strategic value is rewarding...

I rented the game about a month ago and the first 5 missions in I stopped playing and brought it back. But I guess I never gave story mode a chance. The gameplay feels weird and missing something and yes the progression is very slow. I brought it back cuz I felt like those five missions, I didn't get anywhere. Maybe I should rent it again but it is missing so much that dynasty warriors 5 had, like free mode, morale, a touch of strategy like ordering your troops, and a bow with a crosshair.

It's a glorified version of it, You can make comparisons, but not exact ones. You simply to need to understand that.

you can play as them true, but not in the same way as empires.. Empires has a very very different style boards ..
In conquest mode you choose to be a character and go around doing missions while gaining gold and fame.
Empires.. You have a leader and officers, and others are on the map and the objective is to defeat everyone. you can choose to be a character that (cont)
@joetri10 I don't know why this is so hard for you to understand, Conquest Mode is JUST A GLORIFIED VERSION of empires. The comparisons are made to give contrast on what it kind of riffs on, not what totally copies.

@Lightgamete Um, I find nothing wrong with what joetri10 is saying. To say that CM is a glorified Empires game mode isn't very accurate to me either. In fact, if it was glorified, it turned out to be a lot more dumbed-down and simple. :P
CM is more or less acting as free mode where you go from stage to stage.
Also, I've heard that the DLC stages having +4 and +8 stat ups. I haven't confirmed this myself with PSN being down, but it seems like they've seen their mistake.
@Kelsper To be honest though, I like how they don't have massive + stat ups in conquest mode to being with. It would make the game much easier then it already is and less a sense of achievement for those crazy grinders that actually strive to max out every character. (not for me) I don't think it was fair that you bashed the game for that. What I do agree is bullshit is the fact there is no 2-player story mode or free mode. Sad face.
@Lightgamete neighbors the land you are trying to take... You can use tactics, different style units and dif formations (Sw2) you can also tell your units where to go and capture enemy units.. You can also hire new officers to join you and you can ally with other people on the map and do a join attack if you wish... you can also gain more units and level up your characters in the game menu using gold (sw2 aswell) .
Do not try and tell a devoted Koei fan something so stupid again..

Wrong!, 1000 is not the max for most characters... And the Seals add to it, take off the seals and it goes down.. So your illusion of grinding all the way to 1000 is wrong

this is actually the first game EVER to make me want to complete 100% (stats and all) even after I've got all the characters, weapons, achievements, seals, etc. I'm impressed with everything they've done and I can over look slight flaws if it means I get a beautiful game
as well, with the Downloadable stages for Conquest you can get +8 drops, and I just love the DW1 costumes.
and as far as co-op on story my friends and I think that it wouldn't flow as well (cutscenes and such) that's all.

I honestly loved Dynasty Warriors 6, it had a big replay value for me anyways, more than Dynasty Warriors 7. Conquest mode is cool and new, but gets a little bit repetitive and after doing it all, it gets dull.
Overall, fully agree with your points, from the music, to the no free mode.

@cajunoli The "original" video was sped up to fit the time constraint and I didn't like the volume in some parts, so I re-edited and made the video back to its original speed. I also corrected myself on the Fame tidbit since I got that part wrong (although I still find fame useless).

@Lightgamete Not to mention, the very inaccurate slight similarities you point out are a very small picture of what an empire game actually is and what you can do on it..
Its like calling the old 007 goldeneye game a dumbed down version of Cod just because you can shoot and change weapons -.- .. Its just plain wrong

@joetri10 "Party" members and "allies" are the same thing regarding this game :/
Not to mention that you can play them as well after you've unlocked those characters. Empires has a board for you to become ruler, CM just has a board. Unless you're talking about the time limit. Damn, then it IS totally different. CM doesn't have a time limit like Empires does!
It's a glorified version of it, You can make comparisons, but not exact ones. You simply to need to understand that.

@Lightgamete a party member is someone of your playable party.. an ally is someone who is simply helping you.
you can play as them true, but not in the same way as empires.. Empires has a very very different style boards ..
In conquest mode you choose to be a character and go around doing missions while gaining gold and fame.
Empires.. You have a leader and officers, and others are on the map and the objective is to defeat everyone. you can choose to be a character that (cont)

@joetri10 I don't know why this is so hard for you to understand, Conquest Mode is JUST A GLORIFIED VERSION of empires. The comparisons are made to give contrast on what it kind of riffs on, not what totally copies.

@Lightgamete Um, I find nothing wrong with what joetri10 is saying. To say that CM is a glorified Empires game mode isn't very accurate to me either. In fact, if it was glorified, it turned out to be a lot more dumbed-down and simple. :P
CM is more or less acting as free mode where you go from stage to stage.
Also, I've heard that the DLC stages having +4 and +8 stat ups. I haven't confirmed this myself with PSN being down, but it seems like they've seen their mistake.

@Kelsper To be honest though, I like how they don't have massive + stat ups in conquest mode to being with. It would make the game much easier then it already is and less a sense of achievement for those crazy grinders that actually strive to max out every character. (not for me) I don't think it was fair that you bashed the game for that. What I do agree is bullshit is the fact there is no 2-player story mode or free mode. Sad face.

@Lightgamete neighbors the land you are trying to take... You can use tactics, different style units and dif formations (Sw2) you can also tell your units where to go and capture enemy units.. You can also hire new officers to join you and you can ally with other people on the map and do a join attack if you wish... you can also gain more units and level up your characters in the game menu using gold (sw2 aswell) .
Do not try and tell a devoted Koei fan something so stupid again..

@joetri10 Except the comparison I'm making is between a game franchise and it's spin offs of that same franchise. 007 Goldeneye vs COD? They're two different franchises.

The bonds you get on here are not like empires. you don’t get "party" members on Dw7, they are an ally you cannot play as... As for empires, they are part of your army and you can play as them if you choose. you get "loot" on every single warrior game aswell as weapons.. True on here you can buy weapons like dw6emp but you can buy weapons on the kingdom mode! You simply don’t understand it..

Wrong!, 1000 is not the max for most characters... And the Seals add to it, take off the seals and it goes down.. So your illusion of grinding all the way to 1000 is wrong

this is actually the first game EVER to make me want to complete 100% (stats and all) even after I've got all the characters, weapons, achievements, seals, etc. I'm impressed with everything they've done and I can over look slight flaws if it means I get a beautiful game
as well, with the Downloadable stages for Conquest you can get +8 drops, and I just love the DW1 costumes.
and as far as co-op on story my friends and I think that it wouldn't flow as well (cutscenes and such) that's all.

I honestly loved Dynasty Warriors 6, it had a big replay value for me anyways, more than Dynasty Warriors 7. Conquest mode is cool and new, but gets a little bit repetitive and after doing it all, it gets dull.
Overall, fully agree with your points, from the music, to the no free mode.
Do a review of Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 when it comes out! =D

@cajunoli The "original" video was sped up to fit the time constraint and I didn't like the volume in some parts, so I re-edited and made the video back to its original speed. I also corrected myself on the Fame tidbit since I got that part wrong (although I still find fame useless).
