One of the greatest R.A tracks. The imagery is just absolutely immense...The sample on the beat is just too sick, chills me to the the bone everytime I listen. R.A all day!
guys. this is how it is. the 1st verse is the emit guy and his point of view whats happening * in his insane stage *. verse 2 is actually what happens
Either verse can be the "correct" story. In the first verse, the patient could be telling the true version of the story, there is no clear indication that this man is even insane. The second verse is from the perspective of Dr. Emit. His story can be interpreted very easily as a true story, but it is hard to know for a FACT that it is true. This is why I love this song, it can be interpreted in so many different ways.
dam so it gives u the thoughts of a patient who though in his min that he was innocent nd it turned out he commited the crime nd commited suicide... Then after the suicide his mind depicted what he had wanted.. To escape nd be free.. But in reality he was dead! Fuckin Ill rhymes and so poetic it's deeper than the deepest trench in the ocean!!
just makes me sick knowing that these guys are still struggling, working full time jobs and still standing on the the street corners tryin to sell their shit when they make genius tracks like this and, in my opinion, 2 of the best hip hop albums to come out of the UK... or even US. Should be f**kin millionairs
@benjrx8 i don't agree.. this live is not about becoming a millionaire it's about the legacy you leave behind. these guys are real artists because they make music out of love for it not to make money off of it.. believe me the legacy they leave behind will be like the da vinci of hiphop and will be respected & looked up too much more then any billionaireartificialist. these guys are an example for humanity. this is just my oppinion fcourse ^^
@benjrx8 thing is, some people dont want to make millions off their music out of modesty or become puppets to major record labels. Copywrite has gotten offers from big labels and declined em for the mere fact that he wanted to stay true to the art of hip-hop, not lose his respect from his true fans for spittin bullshit cause some bills were flashed in his face. but what do i know?
do you think at about 0:20 that strange sound is like glass being rapidly put back together like in a rewind? That basically symbolize them telling the story before the window broke. These guys have so many elements of traditional poetry in their style!
I have been suffering for inspiration! You guys have re-ignited my love for quality Hip Hop. Please keep it up and keep it real. See you at your next show.
Rhyme Asylum is insanely good. They can inspire emotions in you... Some songs make you want to cringe, some make you want to look over your shoulder while walking through the dark, and tell incredible stories.
I saw rhyme asylum live on weds in brixton, so fuckin worth it! The atmosphere was sick! We couldnt get in and he was like yeah there performing, Much Respect!
Everyone's asking what the song's about lol...The first verse is the deranged Dr. Emit's perspective of the series of events leading up to his suicide, the second verse is what actually happened...
write someone help me hear , I love this tune and take it for what I hear, whats dis talk of twists and hidden meanings people speak of but never reveal. What I make of this tune is, the 1st verse is about a mental pacient who escapes, but it could also be escape froam a mental prison, the second verse explains who was responcble for the misstreatment of the first patient, broken glass seems to be apparent in both verses, could that be a metaphor for disstorted reality ect, anyone ?
Engineer has to be one of the best producers I've ever heard, the stuff he did for bolic was insane as well, combined with rhyme asylum this is the shit.
This is a very good song, rhyme asylum paints a very vivid mental picture with they're diction, and skirmish's vocal at the end only make the song even doper. very good song. peace to the Rhyme Asylum.
Such a sick song, took me a while to understand the whole thing, still a bit confused about the chair through the window thing, or is it just because he's crazy hahaha
Really dope song, didn't fully get it on the first listen. Have to disagree with who said it was better than Stark Raving Genius though... I think the beat on Broken Window is way better than the beat on Stark Raving Genius, but i don't think i've ever heard anything that could compare to Possessed's verse on Stark Raving Genius, as good as this is. The stark raving genius lyrics on this beat would be fucking killer haha
@HipHopAus Dude that would be amazing! The beats on this album blow the ones on State Of Lunacy out the water. Imagine Poison Penmanship on The 'N' Word instrumental!

ok soo the dude is a killer, and at the end he kills himself. thats how he excapes from his mental prison
jackandjill45 1 year ago
Anyone else feels like the second verse is actually the chronological follow up of the first ?
One could say the character turned into a psycho and was incarcerated a second time for doing to others what others did to himself.
At first I felt like both verses were the same story from a different POV, but the ending is just too different in both.
Maybe I'm dumb and missing the main point of this song's "twist", tho.
vinztube 1 year ago
@vinztube i think it is a the same story from different POV,
v1 - My name is Dean Emit, victim of a serious mistake
Diagnosed as clinically insane'
v2 - Dementia in control of all knowledge of self
Day to day he’d yell about the crimes
Like he didn’t do them and they’re still taking place
v1 - Shook loose the undetected shard of glass from behind my vest'
v2- Examining the evil deed
There it was on the floor the jagged killer that didn’t flee the scene'
& He escapes at the end of both verses
Mullets923 1 year ago
@Mullets923
Pretty sure the second verse implies that the character die.
"Shard to the wrist, FATAL ATTRACTION
Examining the evil deed[suicide]
There it was on the floor the JAGGED KILLER[glass] that didn’t flee the scene"
vinztube 1 year ago
@vinztube that's what i'm saying.
v1 - He uses the glass to free himself "Felt the cold wind on my face, blinded by the moonlight, My mental prison escape"
In his mind, he feels that he had escaped.
v2 - "shard to the wrist Fatal Attraction...Jagged killer that didn't flee the scene."
He escapes his 'mental prison' by killing himself -with the glass-. If you're dead, you are no longer a prisoner.
also, death is often depicted as becoming cold, then complete white the moment you pass.
