@tubitician we have the same laptop. It was awsome when it was new. The hinge on the right side broke. It worked for a while until the display went out. So it's been sitting for awhile now. Ours has the tv tuner car with the mini remote as well as the big remote. I need to either fix it our get rid of it.

Hi. Yes, that's exactly what I do with it. You just use the AV cable, or plug the RCA or S-video in to the composite cable that comes with the tuner from GetAdapters website, and then it picks it up in Quickplay. You then open Windows Movie Maker program, which is included with Vista and Windows 7, and make the movie with the editing features. Then it will be ready to upload to You Tube.
I will buy hp pavilion all-in-one with tv tuner , and I have a Humax Twin tuner reciver with 2 subscription cards for one years . the HUMAX reciver allow me to watch the subscription channels . Unfortunately you can only get the chanells that come over the air, unless you run a cable from your cable box and just transfer those chanells in to your laptop from a satellite or cable connection. JR

Hi. You can't pick up the channels that are only on cable. It picks up all the local channels wherever you are. The bigger the city, the more channels you'll probably get. Hi. It will work on any laptop of any brand that has an expresscard 54 slot that's running xp media center, vista, or Windows 7. I looked up the Acer you have and it didn't look like you have the expresscard slot this tuner needs. JR
Hi. If you have a laptop made in the last 4-5 years it may have an expresscard/54 slot. An expresscard 54 slot looks like a PCMCIA slot. It's 54mm wide and about an 1/8 high. It would be on the side of the laptop. If you have an expresscard 54 slotand you're running vista or windows 7 this will work, otherwise, it won't. JR
'Analog' refers to the older format that was formally used in the US. Analog is the type of signal that comes over the air. Now the TV stations in the US only send out digital signals. Digital is the newer format. At GetAdapters we sell the analog only tuner, or a newer hp tuner that will receive either analog or digital. The analog/digital combo card gets both types of signals, so it works in the US and in other countries too.
There are two types on the drop-down window: the straight analog model, which will pass through digital from a cable box to your TV, but that won't get digital signals out of the air, and the digital/analog combo, which will trandfer digital, and get it out of the air too. Hi. You just slide it into the expresscard 54 slot, and it will plug and play. Then you go to media center and go to settings, and it will go through some steps and it will be ready. Then you just hook up the antenna for over the air digital or analog signals (if you go overseas) and it tunes in stations just like your laptop is a TV. You can pass cable through using the A/V GetAdapters includes with every kit.
It's from an antenna dope. You don't have to use the little antenna, you can run an AV cable up to a roof antenna, like I did. I haven't had cable TV for the last 15 years.
Otherwise it seems like you are referring to the video being anywhere on (in) your laptop and not referring to the laptop being anywhere in particular.
Hi. Yes, as long as the other country has either digital or analog signals. I live at the Mexican border, so I get analog from Mexico and digital from the US.
If you don't have the internet, then this is really helpful for staying in touch with what's going on. Lots of people don't have high speed internet or a TV, but still want to watch local TV. This does that, if they have Windows Vista or Windows 7, and a laptop with an expresscard/54 slot.

Hi. At GetAdapters there's two different types for sale. One is the old style analog only, that will still work in lots of foreign countries, but not in the US. The other kind at GetAdapters receives both digital and analog signals. The digital/analog combo tuner card gets the digital signals in the US, no problem without a converter. It's like a digital TV. But if you travel overseas, it's cool because you could still get analog if that's all that's available.

It does list the same card as made by the manufacturer and that one is compatible. So, I'm pretty sure it is compatible, but not 100% sure yet. Come on. What a run-on. Just say you have this tuner and the quality is good, not bad compared to a real TV. That should take around 30 seconds to get the message across. Hi. You just slide it into the expresscard 54 slot, and it will plug and play. Then you go to media center and go to settings, and it will go through some steps and it will be ready. Then you just hook up the antenna for over the air digital or analog signals (if you go overseas) and it tunes in stations just like your laptop is a TV. You can pass cable through using the A/V GetAdapters includes with every kit.

It's from an antenna dope. You don't have to use the little antenna, you can run an AV cable up to a roof antenna, like I did. I haven't had cable TV for the last 15 years.

If you don't have the internet, then this is really helpful for staying in touch with what's going on. Lots of people don't have high speed internet or a TV, but still want to watch local TV. This does that, if they have Windows Vista or Windows 7, and a laptop with an expresscard/54 slot.

Hi. At GetAdapters there's two different types for sale. One is the old style analog only, that will still work in lots of foreign countries, but not in the US. The other kind at GetAdapters receives both digital and analog signals. The digital/analog combo tuner card gets the digital signals in the US, no problem without a converter. It's like a digital TV. But if you travel overseas, it's cool because you could still get analog if that's all that's available.

Hi. It just turns your laptop into a TV. You don't have to pay anything to anybody to receive the signals over the air using the antenna. You can also hook it up to a cable box to get cable thru to your laptop, but of course the cable TV part would cost you. I use the tuner when I go camping and pay nothing to watch TV at the river when I'm done fishing for the day.

Hi. You can hook it up thru a cable connection, but it needs some way to get a signal, so it won't work all by itself with anything attached attached. The AV cable can be used to hook up to cable or a rooftop antenna. Or you can use the little telescopic antenna by itself. JR

Hi. It gets any channels that you get in your area using a rabbit ears or other antenna. If you're near the border you would get digital signals from the US and analog signals from Mexico or wherever. If you use the coaxial cable to connect to a roof antenna, you can get lots of channels from relatively far away.

Hi. No, you don't need internet. You just get reception through the antenna or a cable hookup to your cable box or satellite dish. Either way, the internet is just an option that lets you download a chanell guide (like a TV Guide online).

I'm still trying to figure out if it's compatible, but Microsofts 'windows 7 compatibility center doesn't list it yet. It does list the same card as made by the manufacturer and that one is compatible. So, I'm pretty sure it is compatible, but not 100% sure yet. Hi. I got a couple hundred from hp couple years back, and so I sell them at getadapters for 39.99 and up, depending on waht you want. Plus i throw in extras like new ear buds and lcd cleaning cloths (other stuff hp released to me). hp had these as an option at 149 when they sold laptops new, and not enough were bought at that price, so i got the leftovers. Hi. Unfortunately, it would only pick those up trhough a cable connection (via the AV cord and a cable to your cable box). It wouldn't pick up channels like VH-1 off the air. Sorry about that. JR

I like that card, but it will be useless with an antenna afer Feb, 2009. This specific hp card has an analog tuner, but will still work with a cable line hook up......newer cards have digital tuners, so they'll be fine with an antenna

Come on. What a run-on. Just say you have this tuner and the quality is good, not bad compared to a real TV. That should take around 30 seconds to get the message across. You just went on and on for 3 minutes. I mean come on everyone knows that if you can watch TV on your laptop you can take it anywhere. There's no need to say the same thing for 3 minutes.
