Thank you soooooooo much for this video. I am totally clueless when it comes to make up, but I was able to do this technique and it looks great! It's amazing how much difference it makes with my eyes, making them look bigger and more awake and alert. I also think it makes my whole face look thinner because of the way it leads the eye up. Def. need to get a small brush though.
this is a great video...i have a question...i have a lot of space between my eye and my eyebrow...do you recommend that i go a little higher on the crease with the darker color, or just add more highlight? thanks

Hi Sweetie, Love your vids, I'm a bunch older, so I adjust your guides to suit a machure woman, but you're the best out "there". Thanks for posting - for all of us (even though some of us have not been "26" for a few years!
ufff i tried it an it ended up all sorts of wrong LOL it's so not you, though... your videos rock! i think i was just over analyzing it lol the outer v is so hardddddd aaaaaaa
You are so pretty :) I have a tip for you though. I think you should try Covergirl's Lash Blast mascara. I think it would do much more for your lashes.
Wow...you are a superb teacher...you have so much patience in explaining things very clearly and using easy words.beautiful video.this makes it so much easier for me to understand how to do the V technique.thankyou and keep up the good work
Thank you Emily, very very helpful. Can you please also explain how to get a nice winged liner and even on both your eyes? I can't seem to get the hang of that. Thanks again. :)
I love love love this look! Thank you so much for giving your viewers such great advice :P I have always had a problem trying to figure the outer corner.
Thanks Emily I will try this out. I usually resort to tape as I have a heavy hand and usually get too much color going past my eyebrow tail. Then I look like I have a black eye. lol! Good info; appreciate this video. Have made it a favorite.
I used this technique just last night and it was much easier than what I had been previously doing. Thanks so much! Love ALLLL of your videos. Do you have any tips for lining your top lash line....no matter what I use or how carefully I apply it, it always looks messy.??? HELP!!!!
i love the tutorial, you are very good at explaining but i was wondering if you could show a video explaining your haircut. i love it, especially your bangs. i cant get a good look at the whole thing in this video but i like it.
My everyday lip liner is Baby Berry by Jordanna that I have to buy however many they have everytime I go to Walgreens. Since it's out of stock so much, you'd think they'd order more often. It looks great on you also. I love your videos and your blog. Thanks for all the tips!
She has very few MAC stuff if u have watched and read her blogs enough u would have known she has not changed...she has always had few higher end brands but mainly drugstore!
Yup, I hear you. As we get into our 30s and 40s, the space between our eyebrows and eyelid start to droop and fold over our eyelids. Tried the outer V look, and it looks silly on me. :(
ooook i didn't mean anything by it...no pity... do u need a hug? you seem to take things so negatively ...apologies if i offended you wasn't my intention
have you got plastic surgery or anything like that maybe botox?? no offense but i dont see any wrinkles even when you smile! and you seem to young to be having a plastic surgery
Thanks for posting your technique. You also used some of my very favorite MAC e/s. And I really love my Coastal Scents gel liner-it has so many wonderful uses.
Thanks for sharing your great tips and techniques Emily. It's nice to see you finally using MAC eyeshadows. I love my drugstore brands too, but MACs e/s quality is second to none IMO.
Thanks for all the helpful videos--keep up them coming! I ordered some Coastal Scents 88 palettes for Christmas presents because of your videos--I would have never known about them w/out your informative videos!!! THANKS
Please do not be offended by this because I mean no harm by this but it seems like your upper lash liner looks more straight and clean edges and I just wanted to say that I really like it. I LOVE THIS LOOK!
I was doing my makeup today and so frustrated wishing their was at tutorial for technique as opposed to a "look" because I have difficult doing an outer V. this helps so much and I can't wait to try this tomorrow!
I love your look, on the money all the time! your videos have helped me to try makeup and it looks fabulous on me now! I get many compliments, thanks. love you. Stay well
i do like them. i don't know what your definition of mean is? but what i was doing is called being honest. and yeah your right there are only so many you can do but whats shes doing is the same look over and over just different shades of browns. it feels effortless. its my opinion. not a big deal.
You look beautiful. I'm really loving all the new techniques you show us lately. I'm definitely trying this look here, Satin Taupe is one of my favorite eyeshadows.
Looks great Emily. I am very fair skinned and wish I could pull off such a dramatic look. Mac is a little much for me but I think I have some compairable colors from the drug store, I will substitute a deep brown for the black. Hopefully that will work. I will put some pics up on facebook.
not Emily obviously, so I hope you don't mind my reply, but I'm very fair also and love dramatic eye make-up, it's just a matter of preference/getting used to it! just play around :)
i have a question if you can tell me what type of haircut you have. im planning on getting a haircut before christmas and i wanted to know if you could tell me.i know you said your mom cuts your hair but if you can tell me that will be great=)
I truly appreciate the new outer v technique. This has helped me to define my outer v. I need to purchase a mac 217 brush or a brush with smaller bristles to achieve this look. Thanks
Emily love your videos, but that one eye is a little uneven with the eye liner, its bugging me. The other eye looks perfect though. I feel like a lot of your videos have the uneven eyeliner on one eye, just wondering if anyone else noticed. I too have this problem with making the eyes match, I sometimes have to even take pictures of my eyes to make sure they're even
i agree with you but thats because for most people the eyes aren't exactly the same shape...so ppl tend to follow the shape of their eyes and unless a pic is photo shopped then 9/10 both eyes won't ever come out identical ..can be annoying but u could look at it like it gives each eye character lol
I really liked this technique! thanks for showing step by step. Do you think this would work with bright colors? I'm kinda in to purples & pinks right now... you are very pretty :) Thanks Again
I really liked this technique! thanks for showing step by step. Do you think this would work with bright colors? I'm kinda in to purples & pinks right now... Oh yeah you are very pretty :) Thanks Again
I just tired this , and it came out perfect --the v looks just like your V and I have been wanting to achieve this V look for a VEry long time but this is the first time I acftually got it b/c of this technique , so thanks a lot
you are such a beautiful person. and classy enough to take peoples critism without getting upset, like i would. i like your tutorials like this. it is so much better than most gurus who just say "apply crease like so" and do it. you take time to describe which is awesome because not everyone has the same eye shape or features. i think its great that you do so many tutorials with neutral looks. while colors are fun, some just aren't appropriate in the workplace so its nice to have variety
This sounds so much easier than what I have been trying... storm is moving in overnight so now I have something to do other than play in the snow.. practice my Outer V!!! Thank you so much for each of your vids and the advice you share. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
I've purchased all these higher end brushes from MAC and the one I use for contouring at the crease and outer V is an ELF brush from their studio line "contour/contouring brush" that's $3.... LOL go figure!
I really do enjoy these vids, Emily. You should do TECHNIQUE vids more often....I really don't get why people want to see more looks...if they don't get the technique down first. Besides, I'm pretty sure this technique would work well with any eyeshadow combination and it would still look great. Great vid!
@laque123 it is a compliment to Emily if we want to see more different looks and new techniquest because we obviously enjoy her quality of work. We tend to have high expectations for those gurus that we truly admire and enjoy. Making requests and giving constructive crit. is typical for fans:) Those of us who have the techniques down are part of her "client/subscriber" base and have different needs/desires sometimes. Not hating, just requesting/suggesting. Still a faithful fan!!!
i appreciate your attention to subtle details of technique, emily. this *is* distinctive. it has never made sense to me to apply outer v color, only to have it lose all its intensity during blending, and have to touch it up. i'm going to give this a try!
do you have any other 'technique updates' you can share?
Thanks for the technique Emily!! I'm going to try this out next time I put my makeup on. I always have trouble with the shape so using my wing as a guide is an AWESOME tip. Thank you! 5 stars :)
thanks :) btw you sound like a news reporter :)

you are such a beautiful person. and classy enough to take peoples critism without getting upset, like i would. i like your tutorials like this. it is so much better than most gurus who just say "apply crease like so" and do it. you take time to describe which is awesome because not everyone has the same eye shape or features. i think its great that you do so many tutorials with neutral looks. while colors are fun, some just aren't appropriate in the workplace so its nice to have variety

Great vid!

beautifully said. technique is the most useful thing to learn - if you have creativity, you can turn one technique into a thousand looks.

Still a faithful fan!!!

where is all this vitriol coming from??
i appreciate your attention to subtle details of technique, emily. this *is* distinctive. it has never made sense to me to apply outer v color, only to have it lose all its intensity during blending, and have to touch it up. i'm going to give this a try!
do you have any other 'technique updates' you can share?

Thanks for the technique Emily!! I'm going to try this out next time I put my makeup on. I always have trouble with the shape so using my wing as a guide is an AWESOME tip. Thank you! 5 stars :)
