Wow. The squigglies are shaped just like mine, except mine are transparent with no color, sort of like looking at a blonde strand of hair under a microscope. Also, sometimes my whole center of vision just blacks out and I can only see the peripheral of my vision. I get really nauseous when it's like that. Great video. Thanks for posting.
I don't see the wormy things. I also am blessed that I don't get a headache. for me, the aura goes away in about 15-30 minutes and I'm fine. it's only been scary when I have been driving. (pull over!) cutting down caffeine intake helps reduce the frequency.
I'm having one right now! When I first got this aura (Twelve years) I was soooo scared and I thought I'm gonna blind! But now I am happy because I saw a many eople has got the same problem.I hate aura >.<
I've had migraines and ALWAYS experience this sort of aura. Now I take them as a warning sign and what I do instead of getting a headache is to immediately begin drinking water. Haven't had a migraine since 1997.
@ItSolarias It may mean you are having a migraine without headache. Try not to use the words 'headache' and 'migraine' interchangeably, though. A migraine is a specific medical condition- a debilitating headache is a very common *symptom* of a migraine.
But most likely you have something else going on with your vision, because I think migraines without headaches are uncommon.
I don't have the weird, colorful lines, but I've had that weird, ripply effect for years, and always wondered what it was x_x Now I know it's part of my migraines Dx Just add flashing lights, brighter, more irritating colors, etc and you've got a perfect simulation Dx
For me Its more ziz zaggy the colours are correct but also the zig zags should keep getting bigger and bigger and more fuzzy untill you cant see a lot and than when it fades off after 10 minutes you better run and hide somewhere dark and than wait for you know what. lol.
I personally think the auras the body pre warning you that your gonna get seriously ill for the next two days so get home now.
I get this aswell. If you read the comments i know wha the worm things are i suffer from them aswell. They are called a "floater" look them up. There completely harmless unlike the migraine which see to blow your head up
@TopsIiquid I think the Floaters you mean are particles of stuff literally floating around inside the eyeball, they can be single dots or longer threads, and have a diffraction pattern around them, like concentric rings. They don't flash and aren't colored. Migraine auras, on the other hand, look like a flashing rainbow with a neon glow, and a black zig-zag pattern. Very pretty! :-(
I'd also just like to point out that you see better than I do; I see some sort of weird...distorted vision that makes me see a lot of purple which is super freaking annoying.
My migraine aura is much worser that I can see nothing at the peak, the worm-effect in this video does not fit well, it's more like you look in the sun and have such spots in your field of view or a bit outside at beginning or endphase which grow and disappear, all within a hour but the period of time really fits.
Wow. Watching this literally made me feel queasy and antsy. Of the migraine auras I've seen on on YouTube, this one is the closest one for me. The splotty distorted bits are worse around the edges of my vision, and I see a bit more "static". My wormy thingies are also much fainter and aren't rainbow-colored. Overall, it's spot-on, though, especially compared to the other videos.
With my migraines. At first i have blind spots and have trouble reading since i cant see some of the letters. Then after about 30 minutes i lose sight in my left eye. Its like if a white light is covering my eye. Then it starts to clear up and get better.
I get this on my migraines and im sick of getting them, everyday of my life i have constant thoughts of getting a migraine and everyday I get annoying vision spots / large flourescent blind spots etc. I've fucking had enough and if this continues after my 18th birthday, i'm gonna die. Everyday is depressing and i've become a angry hate machine because of migraines.
This isn't quite right for me...they tend to be localized and not as colourful...although translucent and "shimmery". They take the form of a crescent and move out gradually until I have no peripheral vision on the one side...then it goes away.
The first few times this happened to me, I thought I was having flashbacks from my psychedelic days. Rather frightening. I also had no headache that followed. However, in the past year I have had two migraines with preceding auras, and I don't like them one bit! Thanks for posting.
My 'knobbly worms' start centrally and then expand outwrads until they disappear.
The colour changing looks exactly like what I see. I have tried for quite some time to describe to my family what it is I see when I get these disturbances. Now I can actually show them!
i love this video, its so good to see someone else has the same thing, and to show my family what i see.i dont see the worm and the sparkly blotchy bits are worse and usually at the sides, other than that its spot on. thankyou
@freakyhelen Thanks! Regarding the worms, they don't look right if you stare at them on the video because they occur in the peripheries of my vision. It looks more "real" if you just state at the center of the video and let the other stuff happen without looking at them. :)
@freakyhelen iam sorry but love is the wrong word for this video dont you think. I dont get migraines anymore, i aint had one for 15 years but when i see this video it scares me.
all, minus the 'worms' is exactly how the visual disturbances start (for me) - that is so well done!... it should be at the beginning of my video for the 'open eyes' part before my version of it, I am only showing the disturbance of background when the aura gets larger... (before I give the animation of the eyes closed part).
Great job! Here, have 5 old-fashioned stars *****!
Coloured twisty wormy things! Yes! Only difference for me is that there is only ever one---and it gets bigger and bigger till it is like an arc and either closes in a lop-sided circle or becomes a spiral. Then it spreads out past my peripheral vision and I've got 10 minutes to get to a dark room with my Migraine Pillow (I have 2 of them).
@KnobbyWheezer Yeah, all those coloured things kind of look more like "tears" in my vision to me, jagged lines. But they only appear in the peripherals of my vision. The video looks most authentic (for me) if you stare right at the center and don't concenrate on the coloured things. Anyway, I hear it's different for everyone. Glad you liked the video.
@vicweb1978 What REALLY sucks is when it's in the CENTER of your vision. Then you can't see a damn thing except out of one corner of one eye. Lucky that one I had was only one of two.
@vicweb1978 The worms I had-- though the colors shimmered and blended far more than your recounting. Seeing this again (though not experiencing it) made me feel better (even though it has been 3 years since my last optical migraine).

Yeah, that's about right. I also have blind spots. And I'm SO glad that the worms are common. They sort of freak me out when I see them.

@rynox77 Ahh! I see, thank you for the clarification! Also that worries me a bit; I will look into it. Thank you for replying :)

@ItSolarias They can happen without the pain, so it still means you're having a migraine.
