@creationvirus yer i agree every form of karate has it meaning dont judge it for those rumor about gkr like if i say something about another club them wouldnt be happy im a sensei at gkr i would say gkr is great
I agree, there appears to be a lack of strong execution on completion. The Kata itself looked ok, but other styles do similar routines at lower grades. I would expect dan grades to be sharper
Can some explain to me why the hands are placed on the inside of the knee (1:00)? and why that section is done so slow? I'm really interested in its interpretation?
I know this is controversial in karate circles, but I disagree with the comments that this kata is bad. I'm not saying its fantastic and it wouldn't compare to many katas out there but I think it shows that GKR students have the potential to achieve good form. Stop the Dearth Vader breathing and tuck under the tail bone.
they are shocking, I just joined GKR and was looking at some videos as i used to study with sama...and well this karta is basically exactly the same as the purple belt karta with just a few differences and they made this the black belt one :O
any form of martial arts done skillfully can be contested against another, one not necessarily being a better style than the other... its an individual skill factor , not style, each style has its own merits...
@Henza9218 - Machida from UFC practices Karate. He was undefeated until not long ago.........No good being from a certain style of martial arts if you have no skill!!
@harmony4marion I know you posted this 2 years ago and probably aren't even active any more, but your mindless bog-standard martial artsy responses reflect poorly on karateka, despite being typical only of GKRers. It might have been better to have instead said that you know too little about the techniques of Muay Thai and/or the bunkai of Kanku Dai to know how the techniques would work against muay thai - there is truth in that there is individual skill factor, but there's more to it than that.
Hey Mark, thankyou :o) have just put up 2 videos of Saifa for you, one is Nidean with Andrew and the other with Simon who trained Nidean from white belt all the way through to now :o)
people should not judge a club by its 'fraudster' background. the style has merit just like any other. it up to the individual skill not one club.
