  • OMG iove it but the coughing in 3rd movement drove me insane

  • we pronounce cicadas as "si-cah-dahs" not "si-cay-dahs" ... and LOL it's "cur-rah-wong" not "coor-ah-wong" americans say stuff weird :P

  • 'Currawongs' is also pronounced oddly - The 'u' for this word and for 'kookaburras' should be an ipa 'a' sound. Gotta love the inconsistencies of Australian English!

  • Gotta love their pronunciation of "kookaburras" and "cicadas" :P

  • we need people to come to Australia especially people with trade skills.. its been said that we need another 140,000 workers in Western Australia alone in the next few years and the money is good

  • This is a great piece of music we are singing this at my university

  • far out! lol americans sing it so differently to us aussies :/ the pronounciation sounds weird to me!

  • We sang this at HICES music camp 2010 without the third movement though, I agree where were the bird calls at the end of the second movement? Lol they say cicadas and kookaburras funny - I mean its different to how we say it

  • @SpiritedAway19 omg! i was there too! =D i was an alto... what about u?

  • @emoxvampire92 soprano 2 :) lol all i can think of is that big fish little fish cardboard box song

  • Beautiful performance!!!!

  • iain grandage is my composition teacher :)

  • Is he really?! Jelous. my composition teacher is a phycotic korean theory natzi, haha

  • @Jimmyjammerz LMAOOO! That is so funny.

  • wow kelly...this makes me very sad! what a beautiful video!

  • thank you for posting this. our high school choir is singing this and this really gives me a great comparison. we take it a little slower in many places to emphasize the feeling of the song, thats if we hit it in tune, ha. but anyways, thanks again for posting this.

  • What happened to the ad-lib bird calls at the ens of the second movement??

I personally feel that that makes the piece

  • I don't remember. I do know that we performed the pieces in a different order - we ended with Birds. Don't ask me why - I think our director read something about that being a different performance option... Anyways, maybe he felt that the bird calls were not necessary since there was no segue. For this video, I put the movements back in order because our performance order always bothered me! :)

  • I believe it is another performace option, because I attended the Alabama All-State Choir performance this year and this was one of the SATB choir's pieces. They performed Sunset, then Dawn, then ended with Birds (the bird calls at the end were included). Personally, I think it's just as effective either way. It's a beautiful piece.

  • I totally agree

  • none of the above... i am retiree and sing in the Philharmonia Coir of my little Town I am in Australia and you ?

  • I went to Ole Miss, which is the University of Mississippi in the U.S. Now I live in New York. How are things in Australia? Never been there, but have always wanted to go!
