Hi. Where can I find the ait sensor for my '97 infiniti i30 which came up with a P0110 & P0325 code. i have a new IAT sensor. As for all things regarding the knock sensor, I find it quite confusing in many aspects as to what to do about that one.
The intake air temperature sensor for your I30 is located in the intake air duct. I would take care of one problem at a time (sometimes one code will trigger other codes).
Your IAT sensor is located in the air duct behind the front bumper (left side). You should be able to access it threw the fog light opening (after removing the left fog light).
The Intake Air Temperature Sensor for you Hyundai is intergraded with your Mass Air Flow Sensor. To replace it you will need to replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
My check engine light is on, I have a 1999 Chevy Malibu 2.4L twin cam. Had it smogged and the check engine light came on . the read out said IAT has high output. so I replaced the sensor. Check engine light is still on. any suggestions ?
where would the iat sensor be on a 2006 ford escape 4 cyl. I bought one of the resistors and wanted to try it out but dont know where to plug it into...any sugestions
The intake air temperature sensor should be incorporated into the mass air flow sensor on your Escape (if so you will need to replace the mass air flow sensor).
@canobd2 thanks, the plug, or the part where the wire plugs into the sensor, was cracked and it came off with little effort. this explains my sensor being triggered. so looks like i have to replace the maf. i have another maf, just wont be so easy to replace with dealer using special screws
I wish that you would explain what this sensor does and what happens if it fails besides a trouble code. Also with all videos of this nature, will it's failure cause a "no start condition" , but thanks for your video
Well, on my car (VW Polo) this sensor also senses the intake air PRESSURE. These two readings allow the ECU to bsaically calculate the mass of air that is coming into the engine (instead of using a MAF sensor - Mass Air Flow).
If this sensor fails, the ECU will use a 'base reading' it has been programmed to remember, to use for the Mass Air Flow value instead. But this reading isn't very accurate, and usually results in your car having poor economy and high emissions.. HTH x
Well, the speed of the car doesn't govern how much air gets sucked in by the engine, its the actual speed of the engine.
And it's also linked in with the throttle position sensor in the throttle body, which overall determines the load on the vehicle at a certain point. These values and values of ram air are used to fine tune the ignition timing and fuel injection.
But your EFI / Ignition system may be different to my VW's.. what exactly is your car's problem?
the sensor is just telling you something is wrong...maybe nothing is wrong and the sensor has just gone bad which is what you were told. its possible but not probable...
Hi, ive been told i need one of these, what do you think. when my car heats up to normal temperature the car starts to splutter and jump then it finally dies and wont start again untill it cools down again. What do you think.
that sounds like a compression chamber heat priblem more than anything. the air fuel mix preignites due to abnormally high temps. check the pcv maybe. idk

If the IAT was bad would it prevent the engine from starting?

Before replacing the sensor, make sure to clean it first to see if it clears up the CEL code (MAF sensor cleaner is sold for $5)

I would recommend you you check your wiring at the IAT and the power control module for a bad connection. Good Luck!

where would this be located of a ford focus 2000 with a cold air intake, on the MAF
keithbu 1 year ago
@keithbu
It is integrated into the Mass Air Flow sensor, it uses pins #1 and 6 on the MAF sensor connector.

Reply to HeathwoodStudios,
Ok, so your VW's sensor measures the ram air, which at highway speed is greater than at a stop.
That makes sense, so it's not the problem that the Firebird is having now. Thanks
