We have a little farm, All we grow is for the family and relatives. All we have is 5 acres. And I'm not joking. I'm in India in a place called Kerala and land is hard to come by as our state has a lot of people and less land compared to the other states. If weneed more land we'll have to clear the remaining forests. Already India has lost around 80% of its forests.

Thanks,We have rains for like 6-7 months a year. Its a tropical climate that we have here.We grow Paddy(Rice),Ginger,Tapioca,Pin­eapple,Black Pepper,Coffee,etc. We also have Rubber,but that is a cash crop and it takes seven years to start yielding.We just have replanted the rubber.And we have John Deere here but case we dont have.I would say Deere cause I dont know anything about Case.We have another brand of tractors here that come under the name Mahindra,they manufacture jeeps in India.

Rubber cultivation is kinda difficult,Cause mechanization is possible only for digging 2feet by 2x2 feet holes in the earth for planting the rubber and the rest of the machines are used at feeling time after some 25-30 years of planting when you cannot get anymore yield.Rubber is tapped using a special kind of knife and you make a cut on an angle of around 45 degrees upward and then the milk from the cut is collected in cups of 900ml. You get around 400ml of milk per tree.

We grow some bens here,but that is the one that has to be used as raw and we dont dry them. Its similar to french beans. And rubber,we start tapping them at 6-7 years of planting when the trees are like 18-20 inches thick around the bark,this is done by using a special kind of knife cutting thru just the bark at an angle of 45 degrees upward.Then the milk from the tree flows down the groove cut and is collected in cups.Around 400ml of milk is the yield from an average tree.

Then the milk is mixed with water along with formic acid to set.And after some 4 hours,the set rubber is taken and pressed in to sheets by running them thru two different rollers.This is then dried in the sun for some three days and later it is put in smoke houses and smoked for a week.Its again taken out and then washed to remove the soot and dried agin in the sun.Finally we get the dried rubber in a golden hue.This is now ready for sale and we get like 2.7$ for a Kg(Current prices)
