  • Heard tell of a video from long ago, Mr. Whitrod and Ip chee. They were practicing on a roof. Ip chee struck him in chest with four fingers, complained in chinese that he missed one (acupoint), and then revived whitrod, who was still down for the count, and probably momentarily dead. Scary stuff.

  • @brasled, sounds like a load of shit to me.

  • I've heard great things about this man and his club, any members out there? is it a friendly welcoming atmosphere? I would like to join or at least try out but I'm inexperienced in martial arts and therefore apprenhensive what it's like.

  • Very good form to stimulate the gen (shock power). A lot of practical applications in this form too. Performed by Whitrod sifu. what more could you ask for?

  • Paul is one tough dude, one of the old gaurd,no nonsense, great kung fu.

  • Yes..but can you use it in a fight?...answers on a postcard...

  • No offense but you are obviously ignorant about martial arts to leave a comment like that, he would take you apart. This style is very effective i can assure you. I looked at your account and it says you are in the uk, go to one of the schools and ask to play with a senior student, you wont be disappointed.

  • dude...I would pay a month's salary to see you and some of your friends fight this guy...he would hand you your asses before you knew they were gone...hahaha...find out something about what/who you are commenting on before you start bashing your keyboard, that way you don't expose yourself as a twat to the enitre world...

  • Yup you'd need to pray....but seriously...show a little respect and humility for a real Martial Arts Master...Sifu Whitrod is ackowledged accross the world....He wouldn't get that kind of respect from fighters, teachers, masters and associations internationally if he were crap....

  • bro serious martial artists have nothing to prove...and if the purpose of your training is to be ready to fight, you've missed the point....forging your body in the fire of your will is one thing, tempering your temperament takes something else...

  • Why would you answer on a postcard?

  • u would probably kills some one wiht the small impact surface strikes ifu mean sports fighitng this isnt made for that.

  • First heard about paul whitrod back in the eighties, well respected and top martial artist. One of the kung fu masters who can actually use it.

  • naoto that is one of the forms, not a training drill. The forms aren't designed to be used in combat. they are designed to train both sides of the body's attacks at the same time. For example if you were training punching, and you used two hands to punch at the same time you would get this rough look. He is using the open and closing of the ribs while breathing in or out, to develop gen, or shock power.

  • technically is a training drill; as it trains the moves of southern mantis. like in the "taming the pugilistic tiger" of lam sai wing - it is a form with all moves needed in.

  • Does anyone know a good website or link for Chu Gar or Hung Gar?

Just to show the techniques or basics.

  • go to tonglong co uk

then search wayne husbands in youtube; for hung gar/lau gar basics.

you won't find much chu gar - this is chow gar; chu gar is the "royal" style for the bodyguards back in the day.

  • Not that this is the purpose of martial arts, but I dont really see a practical use of this in combat.

  • I can see a guard break in there and a strike to (I think) the shoulder joint. He is also moving tension through different parts of his body at the start of the form which is part of Chow Gar Southern Mantis' iron shirt training.

  • From what I've heard, It's an exercise to train the practitioner to bring power from the legs up to the fingertips, not really an application form

  • Every thing in that form can be used in self Defence this form enhances the shock power something that i am currently trying to enhance my self although i am not familiar with this form the single techneques in it are somthing i am always developing perhaps you need to review the first form Sarn Bo Jin
