  • Great, handy work method.

  • @ROBERTOSIERVODEDIOS I have the same macbook pro and pro tools 9 HD. I had those same problems when I first started using pro tools...What you need is an external Hard drive that is fast enough for audio (7200 rpm) use this as a dedicated drive for Pro Tools files. It takes the strain off your cpu. And you need to change setting on your mac to work with PT9HD....

GOOGLE SEARCH: "Optimize mac for pro tools 9"

  • What the crap is he talking about?

  • Hi, Im writting from Ecuador, i have a mac book pro i7 4 processors, 500 gb, and pro tools 9 whit a project mix but i cant run it good, it always gives me problems whit cpu overload, remove some plug ins, I have done everything online people say but not working, it gets slow and i cant put a guitar amp plug in because goes slow and sometimes stops.

Please give some help my friend.

    thank you.

    Roberto.

  • @aultmonking how is it an ad if I just put a number up. Do I look like I work for them, nimrod? Anyway if you're smart you'd call them for you next Mac unless you like paying $400 more than you have to. 877-386-5185. And check out my new Pro Tools midi set up video.

  • check out my music on my channel.

I use protools but have difficulty getting the sound as good as I would like it!

    have a listen anyway.

  • That's a nice lesson, but incomplete. After you've made your bounce you still have to make it into an interleavened stereo file. And if you do pickup recordings like he said, you'll also have to consolidate the separate sections together into one single file. So, here goes: Select the file/s, hold down (shift option 3) to consolidate the files, then right click on the file name in the audio window to the right, and choose "export regions as files." choose stereo and go ;)

  • 0:48 u hear ur mix when ur mixing it ^ ^

  • Hey everyone check out my debut music video for my new single "To Have No Right" PLEASE!!!!! Just search "Aneurysm-To have no right" I used Pro Tools

  • This guy has a Phd in Bad motha. Preach it Obi Wan. I will be learning.

  • Why is there nothing but words on this whole video? I can't see anything.

  • @sonne5 It used to work. I have seen it before and it worked perfectly. Something must have went wrong with the text caption in post edit mode

  • @sonne5 Just press CC to get text transribe to disappear. It fixed it for me

  • do u know how to copy hooks and choruses throughout a song for editing purposes? i.e u lay a first verse., lay a chorus, lay a 2nd verse how would i copy that original chorus after that 2nd verse?

  • @Rush814704 what you would do is you copy the hook and then you would go up to your upper left and click on Spot and then input the exact time where you want the hook to kick in if you do it while grid is clicked on it will off sometimes by half a bar or so

  • Mixing on ProTools LE is a big waste of time... Even more of a waste on M-Powered. You'll never get mixes to sound good unless you spend more money on clocks and converters...or get HD 3 Words...Black Lion Audio

  • @smokeizfire thats not true pro tools has the best equalizers and compressers than any any other programs i used i can make a song sound radio ready without even using any extra anything you just need to learn your software better lol

  • @smurfnoose I disagree. The "clocking" in all of their LE or M-Powered hardware devices are not very accurate. Digital audio works heavily on word clock...this is true for any DAW..including Protools. This has nothing to do with software plug-ins. The hardware and DAW software are interconnected with each other. Why do you think their is an entire market that sell hardware "clocking devices"(Big Ben) and A/D and D/A conversion. Protools is famous for TDM and it's editing capabilities :)

  • @smurfnoose ur account doesn't have a radio ready song on it...

  • pro tools = lamesauce IMO

  • What do you do about delay compensation?

  • this isnt mixing in Protools is Bouncing in Protools? None the less thanks for the info.

  • the (m-audio MobilePreamp- USB )can you use pro tools with it

  • if you look at what he is mixing he is mixing a film of some sort. hes not making beats dude

  • The difference is that he probably has a job.

    You should look into it.

  • LMAO hahahahahaah

    This had me rolling

I agree. Dude is doing his thing, and very informative

  • Quick question.....if i do a session on protools in WINDOWS, will i able to open that session up on pro tools for MAC...

  • Yes you will, Pro Tools is also backwards compatible so no worries if the MAC has a newer version of pro tools

  • well a protools session is is a protools session

you will be able to do it

  • Pretty sure it wont matter

  • This is great for retards.

  • LOL agreed

  • yeah, der

  • derrrrrrrrrr

  • can u download pro tools or is there a code on the key wi this

  • all this explaining could have been fixed by creating a master track

  • lol! or a mixdown process :)

  • haha so true

  • sorry but actually digidesign protools is for MAC platform and windows platform i´m using on both system.......

  • Can some one tell me how I can speed up my drum track tempo? Pro Tools

  • elastic audio

check out the digidesign channel and watch the pro tools tutes

  • I have protools M 8 and a fast track ultra. Honestly I hate protools.

  • How come you don't like ProTools grenadezeroonee?

  • I don't do a lot of live recording. It's definitely a personal preference, I'm not saying its bad software. It's got excellent live mixing and recording options. But using it like a DAW the whole interface is just kind of cumbersome. The piano roll is kinda wack too. Were I in a rock band I would likely use protools.

  • Yeah Pro tools isn't that great when it comes to midi recording

kinda stupid for the 'industry standard' and the the fact you can only bounce real-time sucks too

but besides those two it does what any other DAW does so can't complain, eleastic-time is awesome

  • @BcRash89 Really? Have you tried version 8 yet? IMO the midi in pro tools 8 is pretty good. I guess it just comes down to what you are into though.

  • can you please help me if what computer is workin good on pro tools le 7.3........i have a emchine t3882 celeron........pple says this comp not workin well.........what ur suggestion about this?

  • no because its a celeron which cannot process that much data very well without your computer slowing down. it might work for some small sessions but as your projects get bigger and more complex, you will need a bigger better more complex computer as well.

  • In my own experience, I have discovered that if you bus all channels to one stereo track and play/record, and then say you export as file, you end up with a different final product than if you were to bounce to disc. In my experience, its usually the mix's overall volume that is affected in some way.

  • can pro tools 8 be used without a musical instrument?I mean just to edit some tracks?pls answer.

  • yes you can.... if the file tracks are a pro tools database files.... otherwise not........ if you want to edit an mp3 file or whatever tipe of file tracks get Nuendo 4....

  • you have to have some type of digidesign hardware interface to run pro tools....

  • of course. & if you're mixing mp3's you'll either need to buy the plug in, or just convert the mp3's to aifs or wavs in itunes (which is free)

  • yes, it can.

  • wHAT ABOUT CAKEWALK SONAR 8 BY ROLAND?

  • Old shit, i used that back in 2003

  • Lol We are using Pro tools 8 in the recording industry right now. best i have seen out there

  • @usairforcerules Sonar 8.5 is better!

  • @usairforcerules Are you still in the Recording industry?

  • Pro Tools is used in most studios

Ligic not, it's only a software to have fun with some audio samples

  • Logic and Pro Tools are just more in demand because most studios are built around that set up. There's nothing wrong with other programs like Cubase. They all do the same basic thing. Arguing about it just makes you look foolish.

  • check out vers.8 the midi rivals cubase

  • couldnt you just use the Master Track track

  • man there sure are a bunch of fucking morons in this world....read all the comments below for proof.

  • I am sure this guy is experienced, but why do this? just bounce to disk.

  • the mixer is a mackie db8

  • I don't have the program yet, I'm so fuckin' lost on what this guy is saying.

  • well....nice to see i have to use different AUX channels for my music, efx etc.....but not learning MIXING SOUNDS you BIG FOOL....LOL XD

  • this guy is not teaching anything. I suggest you all learn by the book. You'll get the greatest results.

  • learn by the book lollll

  • can you use logic or pro tools on pc ??

  • Logic = Mac only.

Pro Tools = PC & Mac

  • what kind of mixer is that

  • looks like HUI

  • i thonk its that digidesign mixer/interface

  • Most likely a Mackie Control Universal.

  • r u using a mac? if so do u recommed that over a windows pc?

  • Macs are always recommended over Pc for music

  • any particular reason?

  • I have both. PC's are less stable and happen to be more buggy. Not sure as to the "spec" terms....all I know is my Mac has never crashed......EVER!

Meanwhile........back at the ranch.......my damn PC is nicknamed......"Crash-Dummy".....

    Simply put....

  • no he's an asshole:p

  • why?

  • Mac systems are geared toward multimedia. They're the #1 choice among graphic designers, audio engineers, and things like that. That's just how Macs are designed.

PCs are good as well. But Macs seem to be more efficient. =)

  • there are also some programs running only on macs...jsut like pro tools or logic.

  • Pro Tools isn't a Mac-only application. It's PC-compatible as well. I'm using it now. =D

  • pro tools m-powered?

  • Yeah. But if you check DigiDesign's web site you can verify that all Pro Tools systems are PC-compatible.

  • LE. It says it at the top of the window in this vid.

  • what is a bus? what does it do?

  • A bus is an auxiliary channel to send multiple (or single) track through. Its like plug-ing a bunch of tracks into a mixer and combining them, then you re-route them or render them together.

  • kind of complicated but people use buses to route signals when they engineer tracks.

  • very good info, bravo,

  • U SUCK!

  • if ur gonna talk to urself, do it on your channel.

  • NO!

"if UR gonna talk to urself, do it on your channel. "

  • how about this discussion stops altogether.

  • don't take your anger out on me. Get a punching bag.

  • pro tools - the perfect solution to keep mac users happy since other simplier programs dont work ona mac.

  • Adobe Audition 1.5 is very good for basic recording. dosent lag like audacity does. i am in a band btw and record instruments through my PC. Audition is good

  • protools 8 nothing more nothing less!

  • do you know the difference between Audition and Pro Tools? How do they compare?

  • ProTools is the industry standard. I love it. There is very little that can't be done in it.

  • that is definitely true. I wish I could use it.

  • OLD SKUL RULES !! AUDACITY rules :D

    pro-tools sucks...

  • have you actually ever used protools?

and this video is daft i work a lot with protools as a freelance sound engineer, but i have never come into a situation where i would do this, there are much better ways :S

  • STFU

  • hey i bearly got my mbox2 and pro tools i jsut want to know how do i transfer the session of pro tools when its done to itunes so it can be in an mp3 format please help?

  • export it as a WAV.

I use MightyDAC to convert it to MP3, but if u don't have that, just copy it onto a cd and then import the file back onto ur computer.

  • Pro tools doesn't export directly in mp3??????? WTF!!!!

  • And if that wasn't enough, they actually charge you for an option to import Mp3. Digidesign, they will suck you dry!

  • dont need shitty mp3 quality , (only 320) , just render to wav , better qualtiy

  • yeah, I know... At 50mb a song... I would choose a lossless format if I had enough space

  • FLAC

  • Simply bounce your mixdown as wav file. And open it with itunes, and rigth click file, select convert to mp3. Thats really simple. :)

  • command + Shift + N > Shift+ up > option + Tab > Shift + Return > Option click +set output to bus 7-8 > set MIX track in bus 7-8 > set MIX track out 1-2 > Record enable Mix > F12

I just saved you 3 minutes,

    Your welcome.

  • tab.

  • you shound look in to video wave lanstank single's gulls to to see the film move.

  • its half the battle in nuendo

  • luckly i can do all the work of mix and this with out pricy equit ment. wicth make me proud.

  • maby they cut there pie roung and the kunife. cut the coade roung.

  • i think a lot of dj are head of there time and the pro tools need to cheach with us.

  • Thanks for the tutorial. Great tips on routing. I have never tought of rendering the busses to a new stereo track. I just use the bounce to disk function instead, but is there any advantages in rendering? Or isn't that what 'bounce to disk' is doing? Correct me if I am wrong.

  • Sorry I was tired. I have new wathed the video over again. My bad you are already explaining the bounce to disk rendering.

So just ignore my question :)

  • new=now

    wathed=watched.

I better go to sleep now.

  • Thanks. p tools and the learning curve is driving me batty. georgina

  • can pro tools the program be used with a final scratch 2 soundcard.

  • no, it can only be used with M-Box or if you have M-Powered you can used a M-Audio interface

  • Ignore all the foolishness in the comments. I'm an aspiring post guy in Sound and I love the fact that you've taken time to post some tutilage on this site. It's good to know how others do things.

  • it was ok and what program were ya using.

  • I'm only going to tell you this because you're young. It's Pro Tools.

  • is that a reason to let act like a retard?

  • meow?

  • just because he is young he can ask so dumbass questions?

  • no, because he's young he gets told to not ask dumb questions, but I told him the answer because I know I've asked a hell of a lot of dumb ass questions myself. Fortunately, I had people to answer and to tell me to not ask dumb ass questions.

  • a dumbass is someone who comes on youtube and slams on other peoples videos to make himself feel better.

  • Dumbass

  • great video. i'm learnin alot...

  • Is that Vs-1880 digital studio workstation besidw him?

  • thank you

  • Thank you for taking the time to teach others.

    You have a good day.
