if you look up the grease soundtrack on Wikipedea, it's writing is credited to the same two guys who wrote the songs for the play... so i think it didn't exist before the play which was written in 1971. that was my question... was it actually from the 50's or just written in that style later? it appears it was written later... :)

The Hand Jive is awesome both versions of the Hand Jive are great. When I was at elementary school they used to play the 2 versions at parties and the DJ would teach little kids who didn't know how to Hand Jive. Now they do not even play Hand Jives anymore. They play now stuff Lady Gaga, All American Rejects, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus(Hannah Montana), Rihanna etc. all self indulgent crap. We gotta tell DJ's to get back playing the Hand Jive's who's with me?!
