I got my ass kicked by that kid with the sandshrew, and I didn't go back to that gym again until I had a level 40 nidorino. That took me weeks of killing caterpies... On one of my first runs of Yellow (I was like six or seven), I did a Pikachu only run. I spent HOURS upon HOURS training in the Virdian forest and grass just South of Pewter. I think Pikachu ended up being like, level 21-23, and even then I almost lost to Brock. It was this endurance and patience that guided me through Silph Co later on in the game. :)

I took the Mankey that beat Brock and leveled it to 100, traded it to Crystal, beat that, then made an awesome team of Foretress, Umbreon, Primeape, and a few others. Then I lost it at a baseball game. But yeah, I'm not sure of there were Mankeys in RB.

Caterpie was so bad ass when he defeated onix!
