yea they are a little hard to handle. I couldn't draw for crap when they had them at best buy for demo. But, Im about to buy one and im sure ill be drawing a whole lot better

A small tablet is $100, but a medium is $200. And at first, it's not so easy to handle, but you get used to it.

Nice use of the sensitivity ^o^. I have Wacom Cintiq 12WX myself. I want to try it out with Photoshop CS4, once I find a different crack for the program, the one I downloaded with it was corrupted during the torrent download. Dx

@draco9000o yes and no, wacoms newest tablets are called the Cintiq line, those are with the displays, all their other tablets dont have displays, I actually prefer the non-display type.

Virtually all tablets are just like a mouse which is constantly pressing the left click button. If it works on your computer, 99.9% of the time, it'll work on all applications.

If you live in Canada, the Wacom Bamboo FUN 5.8" x 3.7" costs about $150 plus tax at The Source by Circuit City. They also have the Wacom Graphire 4 tablet and it's on a clearance sale for $109. But I would recommend the Bamboo just because its the newest and I bought one.

For normal home use probably the small Bamboo Fun, but if you your going to use it often and even for business I would recommend going out onto the limb and buying the Cintiq tablet which ranges from around $999 and up...

then you can like draw into paint but have no mess and no need to buy pencils, paints or pens

a tablet is this square thing that is like a board, and it comes with a pen and some have mouses. you can draw on the board but it goes on the computer instead. the tablet can tell how much pressure you use too, and you can draw and do lots of other stuff. i have a tablet too

Sort of. Most tablets I know require a driver, which is usually on a CD that comes with the tablet, or just a simple download. After that, most tablets will work with any program. The main advantages are only seen in major graphical programs, like Photoshop and Painter, where the tablets can use features like tilt awareness and touch sensitivity, making non-trivial things (that would be non-trivial with a mouse), easy and less complex.

Haha! Well ownagel, you can get Adobe Photoshop elements which is like snippets of important stuff, but mostly for photo editing. (U can make pictures lol). Also, you could get a bamboo fun tablet, which is quite small but costs around $200 in stores in AUS.

I think it only reacts to the pen, but I'm not sure. I'm basing my thought on the fact that I've seen videos of people using a tablet,and having their hand leaning on the tablet.

it actually depends on what type of technology is used to detect the presence of a input device

if it uses the same tech as an interactive whiteboard then in theory you could draw with your finger

however with most tablets you cant

tablets are cheaper these days, before they were exclusive to only professional designers but you can get them relatively cheap now.

I just got and intuos3 A5 for AU$430.

If you are into design it is a must. You can't draw with a mouse, its like trying to get your wife pregnant with your finger.

Intuos seems to be the best choise. Graphite seems a little too nerdy, and the Cintiq, is it spelled right, seems too expensive. Nice drawing by the way.

I have a Trust Tablet and it works pretty good. I have videos if you would like to check them out. The Trust Tablet isn't as good as a Wacom, but it isn't trash just because it isn't Wacom. Also Wacom tablets cost way more. My tablet only cost 160 brand new and it's 12x9. It cost around 500 if you get the same size from wacom. Also, for people who haven't used a tablet before, I recommend first buying a cheaper tablet. Why buy a Ferrari if you can't even drive.(just an analogy)
