It is called: Graecanic (Γρεκανικά) ή πιο απλά Griko. Yes, it derives from Greek and Italian, I don't know though if it is considered a Language or a Dialect of the abovementioned languages. This can be answered by linguists. In either case, this special culture is something that unite people from both sides... :)

Yes I can understand most of it even though some of the words they use are probably local dialect..the lyrics however are very similar to Modern Greek. kalinifta song in Griko: Evo panta se sena pensèo, yiatì sena fsichi mou ghapò, ce pou pao, pou syrno, pou steo stin kardià mou panta sena vastò. Song in Modern Greek: Ego panta esena skeftome, yiatì esena psihi mou aghapò, ke opou pao, opou sernome, opou stekome stin kardià mou panta esena vastò.
