  • Dude, you got BALLS, I'm getting one thanks to you, alright!

  • Comment removed

  • Battery life is between 8-10 hours of normal wi-fi use.

  • I just set my laundry basket on my thrive by mistake and its scratched in 6 places....so I'm not sure what a key would do, but rubbermaid plastic is deadly

  • @djnosy1 That's surprising to me. I used a mineral hardness testing kit to test the actual scratch resistance of the Thrive's screen. I found that it took an 8+ on the Moh's hardness scale to scratch the screen. Nonetheless, with enough pressure and the right conditions, anything can scratch. Sorry to hear! I have a tutorial up for replacing the glass if you're interested.

  • how long is the battery life?? please answer im looking to buy one of this but the searches are inconsistent.thanks!

  • @kingwls The battery life should be close to 11 hours.

  • "This means that the glass is very resistant to scratching, even from hard materials."

So all this time that I've been using either all-cotton cloth or eyeglass cleaner to avoid scratches -- pointless? Cool.

Still, my fingernail-tap test sure has it _sounding_ like plastic. It's got that dull "thud" as opposed to glass's "tink tink."

  • Wait a sec... you've got a task killer installed. I thought they were pointless on Android. [looks closely at revco696] Are you SURE you're a professional?

  • @ackantor LOL. I do realize they're "mostly" worthless and I don't use it for day-to-day management at all. Usually it's my go-to when I have an app freeze or whatever. Sometimes, though, I have to force a stop through Android's app settings.

  • @ackantor Not entirely sure but I think it sounds like that because of what's behind it. It is up against the screen, etc. Whereas a window for example, has nothing behind it which gives the "tink" sound.

  • and this is why you never buy used.... :-)

  • zagg shield?

  • How about a drop test.

  • nice old chrysler jeep or dodge key. like something around 1999?

  • WTH!!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing

  • you got this tablet please tell me in a private message because i am not expert with youtube in finding coments , what is great and what is not great about this tablet ? and please be so frankly ? and tell me should i buy this or the iconia or the transforemer

  • i love my thrive, but i hate the volume and power control !! whats up with that ??? why i cant watch netflix and crackle movie ?? men that sucks.

  • @JESUS4R3AL

Definitely agree on the controls. I heard that its a software issue with Toshiba that's causing those problems, however if you root your thrive, watching Netflix is possible (be warned that you can brick your device through this process). If you choose not to take that route, then you will have to hang tight for Toshiba and the devs to work things out...eventually.

  • @JRansom02 I return My Thrive and got me an Acer A500 is comming on ups, They are same price, will see if this one can play it.

  • @JRansom02 what do you mean by root and brick???Terms i am not familiar with...Thought you could use Netfllx?? There is a way?? Is this dangerous? Thanks

  • @van9875568 Root, or rooting. is the process of gaining full administrator rights (e.g. in the Windows world) to your device. It allows you to do some things that you can't do otherwise. Brick, or bricking, is what happens when you don't root your device properly. It makes your unit completely worthless, although sometimes it's recoverable. It's a relatively safe procedure, but there are risks.

  • @van9875568 rooting is a process that gives you superuser permissions on your device (like jailbreaking an iPod) and bricking is when you cause a device to not function due to software or firmware issues, making it as useful as a brick

  • someone needs to create a video response doing the same thing to their ipad... hah. ;)

  • Was there a screen protector on there or no? I'm looking to buy this and if I don't have to buy a screen protector (I rarely drop stuff like electronics), I won't.

  • @Mewstarz There was no screen protector installed on the unit. This test was fully conducted on the bare glass. I've since done some further tests on the glass and what I can tell you is that it has a MOH's hardness of around 8 or so. To give you an idea, a diamond is 10 on that scale and quartz is a 7. This means that the glass is very resistant to scratching, even from hard materials. Aluminum, honestly, is sort of cheating because it's really soft, around 2 on the MOH's scale.

  • @revco696 Still good though. Thanks for the reply, looks like I won't really be needing a screen protector when I buy mine!

  • can we put hard disk to thirve through usb 2.0 if yes , how it works

  • @MrManideep007

Yes, the Thrive will support up to a 1TB HDD via the USB. You must use either FAT32 or exFAT, NTFS is rumored for a future update. Also, you can go bigger than 1TB, but the partitions on the drive must be less than 1TB.

  • how did you put that kind of a background along with that unlock screen? is it rooted?

  • @killakali408650

It's a live wallpaper and no, I'm not rooted yet. There's four in a series, all different. Google "vortex galaxy" for a starting point. They're great looking.

  • My phone is an HTC Thunderbolt. I have a screen protector on it, but not on my Thrive. I'll be making a full teardown/reassembly video here in a week or two. I will also be doing an "extreme" scratch test at that time as well. If you have any ideas or suggestions for Thrive videos, let me know & I'll be happy to do them.

  • Awesome video! May I know which phone you use? Also please make more Thrive videos! :)

  • ouch !! This product is awesome .. My Toshiba is on its way :-))

  • please also do a finger print test

  • i would not have had the balls to do that, and i have the thrive lol

  • Thank you! I think you effectively ended one of my discomforts.

  • You are my hero!

  • Not crazy. I knew what I was getting into. I didn't just take a key & start scratching my Thrive. I used a very methodical process to determine what it could tolerate and only when I was comfortable with it's capability, did I push the limits to these tests.

  • This guy is a nutter

  • Promising tablet!

    Thanks for the test :D

  • some reviews i read expressed complaints about the Thrive screen being a fingerprint magnet. But IMO I much rather live with that then something that's sensitive to scratches

  • comforting

  • ouch. I should try that on my ipad.
