in lay mans terms a T ONE (t-1) is a fast net connection with lots of support for bandwidth.. as for bandwidth problem, its like trying to the same of drivers that would be on a motorway / highway onto a single track road. so no wonder they had problems =) . I'm not trying to be patronising incase i get replies, just not everyone is interested in the mechanics of how the net works, it either works or don't for most ppl =)

That was needlessly technical information aimed at you. He could of done a better job at explaining it simpler. But the basics are that you're getting so many visitors to your website that professional computers and high-end equipment is needed to deal with the sheer volume of people visiting!!

Why dont you set up the forum on proboards? Then set up a website and have it link to the forum? That way you dont use as much bandwidth on one server?
Listen. You don't have to have your own video hosting. Just have a simple site of text and have links to your youtube videos. You could almost do it your self with notepad, or even something like myspace.com.

Bringing down the server might well have been a start-phenomenon, as "everybody" wanted to go have a look-see. I would think that the load will eaven out when people get used to the site being there.

He must have just applied for it. I got mine approved in about 12 hours. Just thought I'd mention that so people don't feel it's a difficult proceedure and are discouraged from applying.
Good luck with it Peter. Something similar happened to me a couple of years ago, when I first put up a page mocking David Hasselhoff (in an affectionate way). Thousands of people tried to view it at once and it pushed my bandwidth up. Needless to say, that will never happen again.

Why dont you set up the forum on proboards? Then set up a website and have it link to the forum? That way you dont use as much bandwidth on one server?

Listen. You don't have to have your own video hosting. Just have a simple site of text and have links to your youtube videos. You could almost do it your self with notepad, or even something like myspace.com.

Bringing down the server might well have been a start-phenomenon, as "everybody" wanted to go have a look-see. I would think that the load will eaven out when people get used to the site being there.

He must have just applied for it. I got mine approved in about 12 hours. Just thought I'd mention that so people don't feel it's a difficult proceedure and are discouraged from applying.

Good luck with it Peter. Something similar happened to me a couple of years ago, when I first put up a page mocking David Hasselhoff (in an affectionate way). Thousands of people tried to view it at once and it pushed my bandwidth up. Needless to say, that will never happen again.
