I'm a Viet Nam vet and have had mcs all my life. My last bike was a Harley custom softtail. Great bike, vry pricey with all the extras. I bought a Fury last year...put on cobra pipes, new seat and some other extras. This bike is a rocket, smooth, easy to handle and turns heads everywhere. I like Harley, but sure can't find anything bad about the Fury.
Harley can't change their engines.. The only thing going for them is the POTATO Sound.. that is why Harley riders don't like the Harley V_Rods... I think Briggs Straton and Harley use the same engine plant since 1947
@mewanawatch what is your prob, harley bebuilt everything in the evo motor, and as for briggs, um if it aint broke. it is american. btw potatoes don't make a sound, and vrods are ok, but not a real motorcycle if it is watercooled, also i own two honda bikes. they are the good old ones, but ride what you like keep in the wind any way you can.

@VictoryJudge Your joking right? Go to harley davidson.com and you can learn about their entire history. all the different motors, the latest technology, ect. I bought my 03 wideglide new, never had a problem with it, oil tight, runs perfect. If they were still using 1940 technology they would have been out of buisness long ago.

Victory has some real nice bikes with serious power. but like I said, I havent had any problems with my bike, if I did, Id get rid of it. Would consider victory. @VictoryJudge Yeah if you want HP with a HD u have to go with the VROD 125 HP. Although their torque #s are pretty good, on all their bikes. Their air cooled motors are all about low RPM torque.

Harley riders suffer from a false sense of feeling cool. They think the just because they ride a harley, everyone is envious of them (as he said, "they look toward a harley davidson and get all google-eyed"). Not true at all. Only harley riders think other harley riders are cool. Most harley riders are posers anyway. It's like they put on their harley outfit on the weekends only when it's 70 and sunny get on their bike with a whopping 150 miles on the odometer... wow, I'm impressed.
So, in other words, the Honda is better in just about every way but buy the Harley instead??? This is not a very good review. Just ride your Harley and let real motorcycle reviewers talk about bikes.

Police use harleys because of political negotiations. Some departments use kawasakis. Depends where you are. Has nothing to do with reliability or cost. Here's thebiggest difference. In 5, 10 or even 20 years from now, the Harley will still be on the road and still worth at least 60% of it's cost. The Honda will be worn out, falling apart and likely off the road. There is so much plastic on the Fury ( even the heads are just plastic covers!) it's ridiculous. And rather than either alloy or chrome rims, they powder coated painted them silver. Cheap looking ! Nobody smart would take a Fury over a Harley.
If you want a "me too" bike get the harley. If you want a bullet proof bike thats rock solid reliable, easier ot ride and A LOT LESS EXPENSIVE by the honda.
@rdsii64 $4000 less for the Fury isn't worth the fact that in 10 years it will be worth next to nothing, if it's even still on the road. You will still get at least $12,000 for the Harley in 10 years.
@Jeeperrandy You are correct when you say no motorcycle holds its resale value like a Harley. That being said A Honda will generally give the owner less maintaince issues over the life of the motorcycle. Harley still builds bikes not much different than they did back in the day. They do that because thats what Harley enthusiest want. If I owned Harley davidson I wouldn't not change a thing. The catch is the Japanese bikes run better last just as long if not longer and cost less.
@rdsii64 You are wrong on all points. Why do Police services use Harleys? Because of low maintenance and high reliability. Honda's do not last as long as a Harley and the engines, unlike a Harley, are not worth rebuilding and keeping on the road.. I was a motorcycle mechanic and owned my own repair shop and I have owned a ridden just about every brand of bike ever built so I know what I'm talking about.

ONLY? the harley costs 1/4 more... this is why a harley wasn't my second bike (first was 1200 Low)...You could have a 2003 harley wide glide with 24,000 miles for 13-14,000...Or you could buy any other midsize or full size metric bike brand new for 4,000 less...........Which will last longer, ride better, and most often be faster.

@Anuskasv0 Soo, let me say this; I work for a Honda dealership and I can tell you first hand, Honda was not trying to copy Harley. If they were, they would have made it belt driven and air cooled with the same pin and crank-rod assembly as a Harley. But since they didnt, one can only assume that Honda was thinking outside the normal box, as they have with the DN-01, the nr500 in '79 that used oval pistons, the Honda Valkyrie, and the Honda Rune, just to name a few. Clinical? I think not.

LOL, what are you guys smoking? To me, the Honda Fury looks WAY BETTER. It has better flow, everything matches and is well put together. Add to the fact that the Fury rides better, shifts smoother. I would get the Fury over the Harley.

Right now classified ads on eBay 02 FLHT $8500 69k mi, 05 FLHTCU $9800 36k mi, 03 XL883low $3500 6k mi. Historically they did pretty good through the 80's and 90's but used prices are dropping to a more acceptable level even at dealers. You cant count on a new Harley as an investment anymore.

@TheBrindleBoxer In raw dollars most big twins will be worth more but dollar value has nothing to do with holding resale value. It is the percentage of original price that affects resale stats. 25 years ago the HD dealer where I lived would sign a buy back agreement with every new Harley that they'd buy it back for original purchase price as trade if you bought another new one. Used bikes are just too easy to find now. Plus production volume is up and (kinda) similar metrics abound.

In fact, if you go by ratio between initial cost and used cost as long as you are comparing bikes the same age, I bet a Honda will hold better value.

I have been looking for a Harley for quite a while. I am 6'2" @285 and the Harleys look so tiny under me.....I saw a used Fury in a H-D Dealer, sat on it, and it fits! Beautiful bike.....I'm getting one!!!

The Fury is too perfect? The Fury has smooth shifting and a more stable ride, but we are suppose to ignore all that and stare at the Harley. I guess thats what you get when the reviewer is on the Harley payroll. It would be nice to have an honest unbiased review for a change!
The Fury is nice, but of course if people have extra money to spend they buy a Harley. Not that they're better in engineering or in reliability than a Honda... just when it comes time to sell the Harley will retain a higher resale value. Though if you wait a few years you could buy two used Furys for the price of one Harley and they'll last longer. ☺
The Harley rumbles nicely and pulls up hills like a beast but so does my buddies V-Star...It's all in what you like and want to spend. My insurance on a Suzuki cruiser was $100/yr..the Harley is $223/yr for full coverage. Parts are also very expensive. I do kind of miss the metric cruiser.
Unfortunatly the guy who sold it has medical problems so lets wish him a speedy recovery...but the fact still remains that metric bikes are hard to beat.
News flash..I did buy a new bike since all these posts and it was a Harley Street Bob however at $7,400 bucks almost new I skipped the overpriced BS and got on a sweet ride for cheap.

I've owned a rocker c and a 883 sportster. Overpriced junk. Stayed in the shop way more than it should. Rear bearings seat bolts brakes starting problems....list goes on. And you heard it in this review, the rocker is shaky, not stable not smooth. The honda is a better bike a better brand. I'll be a harley fan when they make quality. Gonna try one more time and get a nightster. But quit hating, the honda fury is better than the rocker c. Love bikes but you gotta give credit where its due.
MCN is disgustingly biased lol. I like the rocker, kind of cool, but would get the fury over it any day of the week. Yeah, the Evo engine has been around a while and Honda's 1300cc VTwin has been around quite a while, too. At least the 1300 is liquid cooled and smoother.
And the reason Jap 'cycles "imitate" H-D is because H-D had great marketing in the mid-late 80's and manufacturers seen the money that could be had in building what the customers wanted, long n' low VTwin cruisers.

I would think a Brit would be more googly eyed over a Triumph or an Italian bike. I've never heard any Englishman say anything American is better. Anyway, I own a 2010 Honda Fury, and it IS a perfect bike. The HD Evolution motor is a good motor. It doesn't leak and it runs for a long time.Mechanically the HD is on par with most Japanese bikes for longevity and reliabilty. This tard seems to bias his bike choice on mystique and branding not the quality of the bike.
I own the Rocker and it's a fun bike to ride. I looked at the Honda and Have owned many Honda Motorcycles. Didn't really care for the Fury too much, all the chrome is plastic. For the money, I'm sure the Honda would be a good bike, but I went with Rocker because if I'm going to own a hog I want to actually own a Harley. Just like sportbikes. I never went with Buell because the japanese bikes owned that segment.

it's not just mch who favour Harley, i remember reading an american test of entry level cruisers and the honda shadow was only putting out around 34bhp at the rear wheel, compared to the 50bhp of the harley. the jap build quality is only slightly better too, not enough to make up for the blandness and lack of attention to detail you get compared a Harley or euro bike like a Ducati. lets not forget the harley costs near the same as the honda yet holds its value so much better too.

They think the just because they ride a harley, everyone is envious of them (as he said, "they look toward a harley davidson and get all google-eyed"). Not true at all. Here's thebiggest difference. In 5, 10 or even 20 years from now, the Harley will still be on the road and still worth at least 60% of it's cost. The Honda will be worn out, falling apart and likely off the road. There is so much plastic on the Fury ( even the heads are just plastic covers!) it's ridiculous. And rather than either alloy or chrome rims, they powder coated painted them silver. Cheap looking ! Nobody smart would take a Fury over a Harley.

That being said A Honda will generally give the owner less maintaince issues over the life of the motorcycle. Harley still builds bikes not much different than they did back in the day. They do that because thats what Harley enthusiest want. If I owned Harley davidson I wouldn't not change a thing. The catch is the Japanese bikes run better last just as long if not longer and cost less.

Honda's do not last as long as a Harley and the engines, unlike a Harley, are not worth rebuilding and keeping on the road.. I was a motorcycle mechanic and owned my own repair shop and I have owned a ridden just about every brand of bike ever built so I know what I'm talking about.

@Anuskasv0 Soo, let me say this; I work for a Honda dealership and I can tell you first hand, Honda was not trying to copy Harley. If they were, they would have made it belt driven and air cooled with the same pin and crank-rod assembly as a Harley. But since they didnt, one can only assume that Honda was thinking outside the normal box, as they have with the DN-01, the nr500 in '79 that used oval pistons, the Honda Valkyrie, and the Honda Rune, just to name a few. Clinical? I think not.

Historically they did pretty good through the 80's and 90's but used prices are dropping to a more acceptable level even at dealers. You cant count on a new Harley as an investment anymore.

It is the percentage of original price that affects resale stats. 25 years ago the HD dealer where I lived would sign a buy back agreement with every new Harley that they'd buy it back for original purchase price as trade if you bought another new one. Used bikes are just too easy to find now. Plus production volume is up and (kinda) similar metrics abound.

Inverted fork. The only reason H.D parts are still around is because are tricked into romance involved with owning a H.D. & are then forced to by the parts constantly breaking down.
Mate; imagine the outcry of H.D owners who spent a pretty penny on a H.D & can no longer buy replacement parts to repair it...
I'll never buy H.D. but bring-on this generation of Jap bikes/cruisers!!!

Test between Harley Davidson Rocker C and the imitator... Why didn't you say: Indian imitation Harley Davidson? That is crap! Honda is too perfect but the other bikes label says Harley so that's the one to buy. Why did Harley make V rod? Because of jap bikes. Is every V twin chopper bike Harley's clone? I don't think so. This is a beast of a bike, looks amazing, and is technically far more superior, easier to maintain anywhere in the world because of wide service network...

The Fury is too perfect? The Fury has smooth shifting and a more stable ride, but we are suppose to ignore all that and stare at the Harley. I guess thats what you get when the reviewer is on the Harley payroll. It would be nice to have an honest unbiased review for a change!

The Fury is nice, but of course if people have extra money to spend they buy a Harley. Not that they're better in engineering or in reliability than a Honda... just when it comes time to sell the Harley will retain a higher resale value. Though if you wait a few years you could buy two used Furys for the price of one Harley and they'll last longer. ☺

The Harley rumbles nicely and pulls up hills like a beast but so does my buddies V-Star...It's all in what you like and want to spend. My insurance on a Suzuki cruiser was $100/yr..the Harley is $223/yr for full coverage. Parts are also very expensive. I do kind of miss the metric cruiser.

@Wurtelsepp Hmmm... Why is Hip- Hop a subcultur which is mostly populated by blacks in the USA? In Germany many white Hoppers exist from nearly everywhere. Why is it that riding a bike is mostly a hobby of whites? I don`t know. I think thats about hip-hop shoult been giving the blacks courage and strength in fight against rasism and most Hip- Hoppers was too poor to ride a bike. But why should a hopper nowadays not ride a bike? But nonsensefarless I`m convinced japanese Bikes and cars are good.

I've owned a rocker c and a 883 sportster. Overpriced junk. Stayed in the shop way more than it should. Rear bearings seat bolts brakes starting problems....list goes on. And you heard it in this review, the rocker is shaky, not stable not smooth. The honda is a better bike a better brand. I'll be a harley fan when they make quality. Gonna try one more time and get a nightster. But quit hating, the honda fury is better than the rocker c. Love bikes but you gotta give credit where its due.

MCN is disgustingly biased lol. I like the rocker, kind of cool, but would get the fury over it any day of the week. Yeah, the Evo engine has been around a while and Honda's 1300cc VTwin has been around quite a while, too. At least the 1300 is liquid cooled and smoother.
And the reason Jap 'cycles "imitate" H-D is because H-D had great marketing in the mid-late 80's and manufacturers seen the money that could be had in building what the customers wanted, long n' low VTwin cruisers.

How many of you people actually own Harley's? Bash them all you want with this idea that they break down or what other garbage the haters "rationalize" about buying anything other than a Harley. Hey we get it, the AMF bikes broke down a lot. EVO and Big Twin motors more than made up for the old shovel head. Get over it, move on and see ya on the road, if you want to trash my bike while I accept yours, go take a walk in traffic, otherwise lets ride!

I would think a Brit would be more googly eyed over a Triumph or an Italian bike. I've never heard any Englishman say anything American is better. Anyway, I own a 2010 Honda Fury, and it IS a perfect bike. The HD Evolution motor is a good motor. It doesn't leak and it runs for a long time.Mechanically the HD is on par with most Japanese bikes for longevity and reliabilty. This tard seems to bias his bike choice on mystique and branding not the quality of the bike.

I own the Rocker and it's a fun bike to ride. I looked at the Honda and Have owned many Honda Motorcycles. Didn't really care for the Fury too much, all the chrome is plastic. For the money, I'm sure the Honda would be a good bike, but I went with Rocker because if I'm going to own a hog I want to actually own a Harley. Just like sportbikes. I never went with Buell because the japanese bikes owned that segment.

i can't be sure so i won't talk too much sht, but im almost sure i have seen atleast 2 other vids by this guy and he always talks about how close it was and says the honda was better on X, X and X BUT then pretty much insinuates that the harley is still better BECAUSE it's a harley.......WHAT??? - so if i have a harley that breaks down every cpl miles, it's still better?

it's not just mch who favour Harley, i remember reading an american test of entry level cruisers and the honda shadow was only putting out around 34bhp at the rear wheel, compared to the 50bhp of the harley. the jap build quality is only slightly better too, not enough to make up for the blandness and lack of attention to detail you get compared a Harley or euro bike like a Ducati. lets not forget the harley costs near the same as the honda yet holds its value so much better too.

I don't think brits like the japanese. Mcn never gives credit where its due. They always pic some euro bike that prides itself in taking forever to build. The japanese can do it in an hour w same if not better quality. Sure u can use better materials but guess what that drives the price up which no body wants.
