I bet it's cheaper to pay the fines than properly compensate their passengers because there are so many people who need to be compensated from their poor service.
Why isn't it illegal for airlines to oversell their flights? Imagine me overselling(taking) peoples money for a used car of mine and then everybody shows up the same day to pick it up and then I say "I'm looking for 2 volunteers to wait another night until I find another used car for you because I accidentally oversold this piece of shit dodge omni." Wouldn't I end up doing jail time for fraud? haha.

@clint0nify I think different laws have jurisdiction.. it is quite ridiculous though.
