this really made me skeptical when they said that it hurts "the poor". and then when I heard they want grab money from wealthier countries and spread it to poor countries it confirmed it. sounds like welfare.
Yea, and when you tax fuels out of sight the impact is going to be first and foremost on the poor. The poor will stay at home, and the rich can drive past them in their 4x4.
Ration the stuff, that way we all get the same allowance. Will you go for that? Not a hope. There isn't enough tax in that one.
Climate change is an awful problem, dangerous heatwaves, less rainfall, more dieases such as malaria etc. It's not just China it's all of the industrial world. Not too mention more and more cars on the roads.
Even better, lets tax fossil fuels, which the top 5% use 40 times more of than the bottom 5% and then use that income to cut income tax with the biggest cuts at the bottom.
Stupid policies are possible but not all solutions are stupid.
The march was organised by campaign against climate change, the meeting at trafalgar sq by stop climate chaos. Stop climate chaos didn't want a march and some of its members pushed for the march to be dis-allowed! Please make this clear...scc should not get the credit for all the hard work done by others.
This may or may not be true, but sectarian infighting doesn't matter. What matters is that the issue got out. The larger issue is that we have to "cut the carbon" as the priest says.
