I would like to see this race again with the electric motor mounted on a car of equal weight to that of the car it is challenging....the Ariel Atom shell is ridiculously light as it is and the Atom goes from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds...so I'm not impressed. besides why would you spend $150,000.00 on this electric thing when you can have a real Ariel Atom for just $65,000.00 less than half the price

The Ferrari and Porsche would keep up at high speed, because they have multiple gear ratios and lower aerodynamic drag. The Wrightspeed has only one gear ratio and no shifting. The Wrightspeed only tops out at 112 mph as a result. But beating those cars in the 1/4 mile is still very impressive.

You're right. It's just a pretty AC Propulsion drivetrain and about seven-thousand 18650 size Li Ion batteries in a go-kart.

But that system in a new Toyota Prius, gutting out the original hybrid drive, it would perhaps do 0-60 mph in 5 seconds, top 160 mph, and do 200-250 miles per charge at 70 mph. And seat five adults. That would be far more impressive for most people than a go-kart, even if I might personally like the go-kart better.
