  • I love the choices.

  • Sorry, but other than a few, the choices are not good. Your choice for Claire is

    terrible.

  • @melanieanastos Sorry you disagree with my choices. Everyone has a different view on what the characters look like and I'd love to know how you see them. Thanks for the comment.

  • You should be a casting director! Just need to find a new Jamie--due to the unfortunate demise of the actor Wakefield. Brianna may need to be built-up a bit--she's not portrayed as being very thin. Claire is brown-haired and curly, easily remedied for the role. I love your picks for Bonnet and Jack Randall.

  • Chris Hemsworth = James Alexander Malcolm McKenzie Fraser!

  • Well done. I actually like them all. There is someone else I have in mind for Jenny Murray, I can picture her face, but can't think of her name or what she was in, so I'll have to post later. First Jamie I have liked, though. And Claire's hair is described as a sable color (light brown), and very curly, which could both be done very easily for the movie on the actress you chose.

  • @erinmorris Thanks for you fantastic comments. Sadly Andy Whitfield, the actor I have as Jamie, passed away a few weeks ago due to cancer. I'm sure that he would have made a great Jamie as he had all the right attributes and it certainly makes you realise how precious life is.

  • Claire is supposed to be blond.

  • @nejikath Claire has brown curly hair. There are literally hundreds of references to her hair colour throughout the Outlander books and it's always been brown.

  • @mrscookiepie i tought she was blond. in the french version, she is blond.

  • @nejikath you say right. In my italian translation, Claire is blond!

  • @nellouffa Same in my french translation. She is dark blond like toffee. It's strange that Claire is brown in the english translation.

  • I like Andy Whitfield as Jamie, Gerard Butler as Dougal and Richard as Frank, yummie!!

  • @sofisa11 Tragically Andy Whitfield died over the weekend after a long fight with cancer. RIP. :-(

  • @mrscookiepie I've just read the sad news. I know he had been battling cancer for a while, but I am still shocked at his death. Such a beautiful and great actor. :(

  • What about Ferguson? There was not mention for casting ideas of him. Other than that I love all the ideas.

  • @mrsdanley Don't worry about little old Fergus! If you look at my other video's you'll see he has one all to himself!

  • What is the name of the song you used in the movie, it's really pretty?

  • @Tina8km The music is by Medwyn Goodall and is called "A maiden's love". Thanks for the comment.

  • This is pretty cool... except... well I have a teeny tiny issue with Antony Head being Colum... unless he's a dwarf he wouldn't make a very good Colum appearance wise... when I look at people to play for a part in a possible movie to a favorite book of mine, I consider how well they bring out that character in both their acting and appearance...

  • I love this!! I especially like the choices for Jamie and Brianna. They are the ones I would pick!

  • I hadn't thought about Keeley Hawes as Claire, but I think she'd be great, too!

I think Toby Stephens would make an EXCELLENT Jamie--that's who I see in my head when I'm reading . . .

  • Jonathan Rhys Meyers for sure! I think Eric Bana would be a definite Roger but i'm not sure about Claire or Brianna. Great picks though!

  • I think that Sean Bean would be best Jamie, remember, he must be hansome man, not a boy !

Also Claire cannot be a skinny model, she must be somewhat curvy woman, whit charater, maybe Scarlett Johansson type of woman, she is too young though. Julia Sawalha would be right age.

Only one that I agree on this list is Robert Carlyle ! He would be super on the spot !

  • @Boegea It always amazes me how people see the characters totally differently from others. I would be very upset if either Scarlett Johansson or Julia Sawalha were to get the parts as they don't look anything like the version of Claire that I have in my head. The actress Keeley Hawes has both personality and curves!

I adore Sean Bean and he does have a look of Jamie about him but it would be a total farce trying to make a 52 year old man look like a 23 year old.

  • @mrscookiepie I agree - Keeley Hawes has both character and curves and I think she'd play Claire amazingly - she's also the right age to get away with playing her in the early stages and as older. I actually NEED this to happen!

  • In fact if you watch A Cock and Bull Story ( Bimbobean on youtube has it but not in very good quality) you can see Keeley in a role in a very similar period. I made a graphic but youtube won't let me post a URL for it.

  • OMG!! First of all I really think Keeley Hawes would be amazing as Claire! Secondly, every single other person in this video is just about as close as it's possible to get to my idea of what these characters look like - PERFECT casting!!!

Just fabulous fabulous ideas you have!

  • Oooo you picked Richard Armitage (loved from North & South/Robin Hood too) and Andy Whitfield (how terribly upset I was when I discovered his illness after watching the Spartacus series, I hope he is well!). Excellent choice for Claire! You're hired :)

  • You chose a pretty different cast from the ones I've seen before with a bunch of "not-too-famous" actors... and I love it! Well, most of it ;)

  • i love all of your character choices! the only one i dont see as much is claire. but i suppose its better.than the rumored katherine hiegel. what about kate winslet for.claire? thoughts?

  • @mahalcat Thanks for the comment! I love it when someone sees the characters in the same way that I do. Hopefully Andy Whitfield will be on the mend soon and will be able to continue with Spartacus and any other projects he is intending to do.

Henry Cavill is a fine specimin of a man but I think his complexion and his eyes are too dark to get away with being a fair skinned redhead. I've heard him mentioned before in relation to Outlander and I think he'd make an excellent Roger.

  • That's a great cast, although I always pictured Jennifer Ehle (Lizzie Bennett from BBC's Pride & Prejudice miniseries) as Claire.

    Bring on the movie!!!

  • @SavieGirl Jennifer Ehle would be an excellent choice. She has the quirky sense of humour and a very expressive face. I hadn't actually realised that she wasn't English when she was in P&P. Her accent fooled a native! I would be a little worried thought because by the time the film is put into production she may be a little bit too old to get away with playing a younger Claire.

  • @mrscookiepie I guess thats going to be a bit of a hurdle for the casting people to find actors who can play someone in their 20's and then in their 40's onwards. Especially Jamie who starts out so young and grows to be a hardened warrior.

  • Claire looks GREAT! don't know about Jamie tho... I think he should look a lot kinder. Brianna needs to look more like Jamie, apart from that, BRILIANT!!

  • This is, far and away, the BEST imagined ensemble for the first couple of Outlander books! I love it! If you find a great Lord John, be sure to post a new video...and I hope that you're consulted for the film. ;-)

  • @jaudreygraham I'd love to be consulted on the film ... so if you are listening film people I'm available!

  • Thank you all so much for your brilliant comments!

  • THE casting! Congratulations. I'd sign them all on the spot, were I to make the decisions. Thanks you!

  • i LOVED your choice of actress for claire

  • I love your casting ideas! I'm glad you have Gerard as Dougall, I don't see him as Jamie at all. Your casting choices are by far the closest to what I was picturing when I was reading the books :)

  • I think Andy Whitfield is perfect for Jamie - the slanted eyes - the long thin nose and we know he has the body (Spartacus). He's young enugh (just) to play the young Jamie. I don't think Gerard B could still get away with playing a 23 yr old nice as he is.

I like your other choices but think given Colum's medical problems it would need a shortish actor.....
