@AMxPunk Simba doesn't know his dad has to die in order for him to take his place. He has no clue that that's how it works. (Technically, he never learns that the right way.) The innocence of youth is one of the major elements in this film.

Point is, you really shouldn't misinterpret this awesome song like that, especially considering how the rest of this movie plays out.
