why choose the M4 to shoot from the hip if its more deadlier as far as range and accuracy compared to the ak47? if anything i would shoot the ak from the hip. its a way bigger round.

i hope you have an NBC suit and a good gas mask with extra filters. also if your face isnt shaved clean then the mask wont seal to yourface and is usless. this shtf scenario will be loaded with chem weopns and bio weapons. standard arms will be usless if not protected from the gasses

I keep all of this same stuff handy to but does no one think that a semi auto shotgun would really take care of business. There are a couple good ones that are generally reasonably priced. The Benelli M4 Tactical and the Remington 1100 both very high quality and easy to transition with and manipulate. My choice, the Remington 1100 primarily due to initial and up keep costs, replacement parts and such.

@1991jarhead It depends. ceramic level 4 body armor can stop a 223, but the average vest cops wear will not stop it at all.  Also, multiple hits from 223 will break ceramic plates.

So just dump rounds into target until it drops, body armor or not.
