You are so awesome! I'll be making an apple cake this year for a New Years party and was worried I'd end up serving people pieces sliced like a pie. THANKS!!!
Yeah, but you're cutting an un-frosted, un-layered cake. How would this work if the cake was bigger and had a bunch of frosting on/in it? It sounds far too messy.
Its not like portioning a round cake is some sort of obscure science. You simply cut it into any number -other- than 2 when you're first cutting it. Need 12 slices? Not a problem, cut the cake into thirds rather than halves the first time, and divide each of the thirds into four equal portions to make twelve. Need ten slices? Halve the cake, then cut each half into five.
It's so strange! I had a dream last night where myself and some friends were put through all kinda of tasks to win some kind of item, and one was we had to cut a round cake in a way that we could get the most pieces...and I did it right!
Now THAT's a rave! Thanks for watching the show, and if you ever have a question, drop me a note at the website (i can't list it here) So glad you liked the buttercream.
I just went to your website. You've have some awesome tips and demos. I finally got to test your recipe for Swiss Meringue Buttercream. It put on vanilla cupcakes. What a difference! I could just spoon this frosting into icecream waffle cones and call it dessert. It's that good!

Great tip. My mom always cut cakes like this and whomever we were celebrating got to eat the center. Haha!
I'm curious though, what kind of cake was this and what happened to the rest of it? :)

I like the way your mom thinks! :) It is a wonderfully moist yellow cake, and I let the guys on the crew eat the leftovers!
