Oh this was AWESOME! Richmondtown in the 80s... can't even get over it! Thanks a ton for posting this. I was born and raised in old West Brighton... [the "old" side of the Island...haha]. Loved these images... when Igot married in '73, we had pics taken at the li'l walkng bridge behind the mill house restoration there in Richmondtown in the creek next to St. Andrews.
I remember that cemetery at the bottom of snake hill. then after that were some old houses that were part of a restoration / historical society. There was a nursery / gardening center called Hutter's about a block or so from there. This is good. If you took a left turn after coming down from snake hill by the cemetery, you eventaully ended up in New Dorp.
I remember as a kid I was in the car with my mom and some drunk guy coming down snake hill crashed right into us head on. Got lucky as hell we didn't get killed.
I still live near this area, since 1976 and it still looks the same, except for the cars, wow they had bumpers then! Your other videos make the Island look unrecognizable today. Also you must have had one of the first video recorders.
That's great to hear. Nice to know some things have not changed. Perhaps you are right as to have had a camera back in 1983 was not common. I have much more that I will be uploading such as the Ferry Terminal in 1983
cool video - terrible soundtrack! you couldnt find music to better represent 1983?
