hey the thing works up to the part where i get to the cd input thing cause i am using a Compaq PC and i am using the Compaq System recovery cd's and it can't tell wether or not my laptop is a Compaq so can u tell me what is wrong and also it says that the PC recovery discs do not support my model cause it can't detect it so can u tell me what to do

windows 7 ran decent on my 2ghz pentium 4 with 1.5gb ram and 512mb ati radeon 2600 pro agp must say im actually impressed with microsoft (for once) but ill stick to linux mint =)

How much Ram do you have , and how much Ram did you give Virtualbox ? It runs full speed for me... I've even installed windows 7 on it... and use it to download stuff...

@maw88ify Well, like I said, I'm using an old computer (If I didnt say that, I'm sorry) In any case I uninstalled Ubuntu and got windows XP on it. Why? Because linux is a programmers OS, you cant really find anything good unless it's open source. And the performance on an old machine like this for VirtualBox isn't all that good for what you need it for :D

I don't think it will work on a G3... I have a G3 and it is pretty slow... I don't think it has enough power to run a virtual machine. I have no idea if it will work with windows, because it's a PowerPC. I'm not sure if it will emulate the x86 platform.

What are your system specs? When I tried running Windows 7 with virtualbox on Windows XP, it was pretty choppy.

System specs aren't that great here... I have a Pentium D 3.0ghz with 2gb ram and a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512mb vRam... Pretty outdated system to today's standards... Windows 7 runs choppy on most virtual machines i have seen so far..

We have similar systems..... Windows 7 will run fine on that as the main OS because i run Windows 7 on mine and it runs smooth.. But in a virtual environment it will run crappy... Our systems are slow compared to todays Core i7 and such... Did you install the Virtual guest addons in the Virtualbox for windows 7? It might run a little better.

@josephschwenker Wow i got a Pentium 4 2 GHz with 1.75 GB of RAM and a GeForce 6200 512 MB... That is outdated! But still runs COD4 with 25 fps :)

If your having problems mounting devices and sharing folders in Virtualbox, make sure you install the guest additions from the devices menus. I am running Ubuntu Jaunty host with XP guest and it works great, but it did not work right until i installed the additions!

before u install windows in virtual box u are supost to go to seting and enable all usb ports mout drives and exs....

not to wurry u can also do it after u installed windows xp just open virtual box select win xp and hit settings then enable all the things u need :}

What was the desktop capturing software you used on ubuntu?

gtk - record My Desktop. It is in the Add/remove area and you have to click show all available applications at the top. It saves it to .Ogg format which works with uploading to youtube. It saves by default to your Home folder.
