Apparently the AGS-30 is a variant of the AGS-17 and was developed for use against the Chinese, not Americans, during the Sino-Soviet border conflict to stop "human wave" attacks. Still weapons like the Mk-19 or Mk-47 Striker would own it. They have less recoil, can carry more rounds, and each round, upon impact, can kill anyone within about a 15-foot radius of the initial impact. And the Mk-47, already being used in Afghanistan, can carry airburst rounds.

Accuracy always matters. This thing looks like it has the recoil of a horse kicking its rear legs constantly. Hitting anything at a fair distance that isn't standing up against a concrete wall is going to be difficult.

Russia tried to modernize their design in a bad way here. Having a 400RPM automatic grenade launcher weighing 16KG is way too lightweight for its own good.

Lots of Russian weapons have violent recoil, but almost every one of their newer designs seem as if heavy recoil is a goal.

This weapon would only suit an infantry squad facing a horde of enemies charging across a field. But any weapon for that role has been obsolete for almost a century now. If its against state enemies, your enemy is gonna be coming in fast-moving armoured vehicles. If its not, it will be in teh cities, and god knows you wouldn't want to fire that thing into a crowded city.

it looks hard to "carry" too. Anyways, it seems more flimsy than a Mark 19. The Mark 19 is heavier but it doesn't rattle around or jump like this one. A lighter launcher is also in development but is just as capable as the Mk. 19. And if a multi-shot grenade launcher is needed, juse use an M32. Sure it's a 6-round revolver type, but it looks a lot better than this thing.

This weapon is suprisingly lethal. A few years ago one reservist killed himself with one of these. The safetytimer of the projectile didn't work. The granade burst hit some branches in the line of fire about 4 metres infront of the barrel. One steel schrapnel came straght through his steel helmet, thick fur hat and through the skull in his forhead and his cerebro. Killed him instantly.

Loose fitting tolerance and high precision construction means the thing pretty much always works. You can't increase it's fitting tolerance without sand, dirt, residue, and the like increasing how prone it is to failing. The M16 and AK47 are pretty much just two ideas on opposite ends of this spectrum.
