@xxxOrcaman4xxx the wells really isn't that great past the early stages of the game, for people to use it they need to live pretty close by, be on free time(unless they are a wife), and there need to be water prepared for them at the well, witch means the well worker should live as close to the well as possible so when he goes onto work time he doesn't waste time getting there, consider making a cistern and come aqueducts, it will work allot better once you actually get a city and not a town.

@zackerolo2 its really up to you, its a good game and i had allot of fun with it but its also very dated. but seeing that good roman city builders (and just good city builders in general) are few. i guess its worth a shot.
This game had this logical feeling which I didn't have when I played Ceasar 4. It brought joy of seeing your citizens with their carts or priest marrying couples before the couple goes home and has a toddler running around. The military aspect is a bit too easy. I always got in trouble when I had to build the big villas and entertainment buildings like the Colloseum.

Ok im going through the campaign and I'm stuck on the mission where you just get access to fruit anf doctors office. everything seems to be in order, however nobody is going into the fucking doctors office so the houses wont upgrade! ive placed enough of them around but dont get whats going on.. nobody even works in any of them. population and everything is fine. I just dont know what the hell is going on..

@12monkeymaster A CIV 4 walkthrough would be much more difficult ^^ I'm sure there's many on youtube, but when it comes to Civ 4 I find it the best to start with a small difficulty and learn on your own. The civilopedia also helps a lot, especially if you devote some time to reading it.

Problem is expanding my workforce. Any sugestions? (Usually get stuck when i need to get the palace stuff, their distance ring is big, but not big nough.)

@figaro4555 what i do is mass produce goat farms and butcher shops. just make alot of food producing places. also if your city happiness is up you can lower the food rations.
this was the first pc game i ever got... i loved it sooo much. but i am kinda bored with it now, its been 4 years since i played it first. i wish i could still feel the old spark of playing this... im pro at this game now, but i really had the most fun not knowing what in the heck to do about the temple being too far away from the hovels. but i still love this game. it got me in to strategy games.

@StarCraftDude1234 thats funny. after i beat this game i played civilization and sim city!! those were the very first pc games i ever played. i used to just play consles until like 6yrs ago. the trick to fill your granerys is knowing how much product each farm produces. 1 goat farm can supply 4 meat carvers. you might get away with 5 but thats pushing it. also, try not to over expand, they will consume food faster. and your's calls you sire? mine says govener.

Yeah, when I typed that comment I was always getting the message saying granaries are dangerously close to empty, now he keeps saying that there is not enough granary space. Lol. I like Civilization and Simcity. I think CivCity is a good ,at least good enough for me ^_^ combination of both. Now, there is another civ game like this, Stronghold, but that game has graphical bugs where it skips.
@StarCraftDude1234 i played all strongholds and love all of them. but i think this is my favorite, if not for gameplay for its sentimental value to me. im sure everyone can remeber their first pc game. so you got the food production down-pact? have you beat the campaign? what level are you on? a good tip that i use is to put all your farms in a tight square as best you can. then make 4 meat shops and set your houses behind it. i have a complcated city plan for it all. :)

you start with shack, if you supply it with water, it'll turn into a small hut. if you supply the small hut with meat, it'll turn into a medium hut. if you supply the medium with tunics, it'll turn into a large hut. if you supply a large with olive oil, ít'll turn into a small hovel. if you supply a small hovel with beds and religion, ít'll turn into a medium hovel.
Why do your houses automatically upgrade like that? I have a cistern and aqueducts(however you spell them) and the houses oftens stay as shacks, wont upgrade, any idea why?

i got this game at walmart too, for around the same price. i still play it alot, just because its fun and im a huge fan of roman stuff. I also played grand ages rome, but i liked this game alot more because there is no need to worry about crime in this game.

Lol..what a total waste of money, placing houses near farms and stuff, it's useless, they will never get all the resources they need...because you placed farms where you should've placed a library or something...Second, always research Lead Working and Mosaic Working first...saves you a sh!tload of money on cisterns and aquaducts. No seriously, i like the tutorial, but your city could be sooo much more efficient.
grand age Rome (i think your talking about grand ages of Rome) has ALOT better graphics and WAY more soldiers than this game does, but i think this is a classic case of don't judge a book by its cover cause i personally had more fun playing this game than i did with grand ages, just my opinion tho
well when you're playing on easy it's a really simple game - try beating the game on hard, the tiny range of the houses and constant money shortages makes it near impossible sometimes... i beated it on hard mode... took he hours damnit.
I love this game. It is poorly rated on Gamespot but it's BS. They try to compare to Sid Meier's Civ but it's not fair. I hate Sid Meier's games. Firefly did a good job here.

There is one more difference between the difficulty settings - in esay mode you don't have to worry about riots and fires. They happen quite frequently in hard mode.. Why do you build roads completely around the buildings? Isn't that a waste of money? The people never walk behind the town hall...? Or am I missing something?
@Luio677 Sure, I do too, but not before I have upgraded so they're free. It wastes money in the beginning, and if you play on hard mode, you really can't afford it. At least I can't.:p

you start with shack, if you supply it with water, it'll turn into a small hut. if you supply the small hut with meat, it'll turn into a medium hut. if you supply the medium with tunics, it'll turn into a large hut. if you supply a large with olive oil, ít'll turn into a small hovel. if you supply a small hovel with beds and religion, ít'll turn into a medium hovel.

Why do your houses automatically upgrade like that? I have a cistern and aqueducts(however you spell them) and the houses oftens stay as shacks, wont upgrade, any idea why?

i got this game at walmart too, for around the same price. i still play it alot, just because its fun and im a huge fan of roman stuff. I also played grand ages rome, but i liked this game alot more because there is no need to worry about crime in this game.

@Drathgore yeah, i have had the game for along time, and i am just found that out awhile ago. i had alot of towers though because animals kept invading, and they just happened to kill all the revolters. lol

Lol..what a total waste of money, placing houses near farms and stuff, it's useless, they will never get all the resources they need...because you placed farms where you should've placed a library or something...Second, always research Lead Working and Mosaic Working first...saves you a sh!tload of money on cisterns and aquaducts. No seriously, i like the tutorial, but your city could be sooo much more efficient.

grand age Rome (i think your talking about grand ages of Rome) has ALOT better graphics and WAY more soldiers than this game does, but i think this is a classic case of don't judge a book by its cover cause i personally had more fun playing this game than i did with grand ages, just my opinion tho

well when you're playing on easy it's a really simple game - try beating the game on hard, the tiny range of the houses and constant money shortages makes it near impossible sometimes... i beated it on hard mode... took he hours damnit.

I love this game. It is poorly rated on Gamespot but it's BS. They try to compare to Sid Meier's Civ but it's not fair. I hate Sid Meier's games. Firefly did a good job here.

There is one more difference between the difficulty settings - in esay mode you don't have to worry about riots and fires. They happen quite frequently in hard mode.. Why do you build roads completely around the buildings? Isn't that a waste of money? The people never walk behind the town hall...? Or am I missing something?
