  • Punk's not death!!!

  • I hope I don't end up bying this album.

  • Fucking brilliant , uk subs were and are the fuvking best.

Charlie you are a fucking legend.

    Subs for ever.

  • outstanding!!!!!!!!!!

  • FUCK, I HAVE NO WORDS. WHAT A GREAT GIG!

  • I bought this single for five bucks at Amoeba music in Hollywood California. Its probably the best thing i could have bought!

  • great band , and they are great guys ! saw them 1st time 82 ? at cbgb's one of the greatest shows i've ever seen !! at the sound check alvin let me play his bass, then me and my friends took them to get pizza ,i was 14 ...

  • brilliant stuff...just came across this now, excellent sound quality

  • " My absolute fucking favorite is the UK fucking Subs, aren`t they the greatest?" as Michael Monroe said and I have to say, one of the greatest anyway!

  • the best songs!!!

  • Punk rock,is dead?

  • @Mirellamoriarty nah endangered speicies!

  • @Mirellamoriarty Punk is not dead, but you better keep quiet.

  • Soon after this 7” single was released the band splintered once again. With only Charlie left to soldier on from the classic line up, the band got progressively worse and by the time they released the “Flood of Lies” album I had given up on the them. This is nevertheless a great video thanks a lot for posting it, great memories indeed.

  • I have several live recordings of the band, including one that was released on “Chaos Tapes”, who also released live recordings by G.B.H., Anti-Pasti, & Discharge. I found odd that the U.K. Subs had much difficulty replicating live what they had released on record. Nicky’s guitar tone usually sucked & his solos also fell well short of the mark. When you listened to “Endangered Species” you’re amazed how great the production is & Nicky produced it so what happened live!?!?

  • The 3 new songs on this EP were good but the magic of the previous line was gone.

I saw the U.K. Subs live at the 100 Club & back then Steve Roberts was behind the drums & Tezz Roberts of Broken Bones, Battalion of Saints, & Discharge fame was on guitar. That night they sound ok. A few years later I saw them again with completely different line up at the Mason Jar in Phoenix. Then they had Karl (ex The Exploited) on guitar and they sounded pretty bad.

  • This is one hell of a gem. This sounds far better than I remember the single doing when it was released. Unfortunately, to me this release signaled the beginning of the end for the group. This was the first record to come out after Steve Roberts had departed to join Ligotage. His replacement, who’s name I can’t recall, was not as fluid, innovative nor as tight as his predecessor, and as a results the songs suffered greatly.

  • @SonicIntruder77 This drummer's John Towe (original Generation x/Chelsea drummer), though he was going under the nom-de-plume of 'Kim Wylie' at the time.....a good drummer, but like you say - not a patch on Steve Roberts, who had a genuine wild quality akin to Moon or Scabies, something you can't really learn or copy - a genuine one off.

  • @RedBryn I second that emotion, John/Kim, certainly wasn’t on par with Steve Roberts. I knew nothing in regard to who his former employers were, great history lesson though. There were several second wave Punk bands like the Subs who never sounded as good after their marquee drummer left the band. G.B.H. comes to mind as well as The Exploited, lest we forget that Steve Roberts recorded the majority of the drum parts on their classic “Troops of Tomorrow” record.

  • Ah the mullhawkit. Grate hair choice.

  • i saw these guys at warped last year, not knowing who they where. Amazing.

  • thank's for ispiration's

  • just saw the subs live at "the brickyard" in carlisle on july 8th and they were awesome, charlie mingled with the crowd, and i got a photo with him, great crowd, great bar staff, and great venue,i even bought charlie a bottle of grolsch

  • than.. ooh wait i gotta fahht. ahh thats better! now as i was sayin thanks!! theese blokes still rip!-no doubt.

  • Severo, yo tengioo ese dvd, es en vivo desde Alemania, una energìa la puteria

  • muy buen video k-po ,el mas largo que vi de ellos en los 80s

  • hard to believe Charlie was born in the forties and he's still singing

  • perms and mullets, even in punk.

    bloody 80's

  • GREATTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • shit if I had a time machine this is where I would go to rip that pit up!

Charlie's still as innovative as ever and glad the Subs are still around.I was born in 87 its a shame these snot nosed brats gotta make us look bad. I appreciate old punk cause without it new punk wouldnt be as it is,cheers ya fucks

  • somebody give me the lyrics of self destruct -__- i must cover themmmzz

  • Watching this reminds me just how much I still love punk!! Great stuff!

  • wiked pure music

  • All you sellout theorists. This was 82. You have to excuse alot from this era. Especially the Dick Manitoba dew. They still sounded the same and that is what matters. At this time they could have added some organ or synth, drum machines and sang love songs. They didn`t. This band could have gone in many directions at this time. Goth, MTV, etc. Fashion is irellevant when the wax is pressed.

  • Caralho o vocal parece o Reginaldo rossi Punk...kkk

  • Charlie and the drummer look like they were recently in Charlies hairdressing boutique, probally did gutairist 'Captain scarlet's' hair as well, i used to see this line up all the time, i remember when Capt, Scarlet (wot a name) joined.

God im old, still younger than Harper though!

  • All this 'they sold out coz their on tv' guff is nonsense, they are musicians and musicians play music because they want people to listen to them. In the early 80's there wasnt much chance to get this kind of music out to a new audience, only preaching to the converted all the time isnt going to get their music very far so they take opportunities to get a wider audience, if that turns people onto them or other punk bands why not?

  • this old fart lovin charlie n the subs

  • Punk Giants Uk Subs is one of that big bands that inspired a lot of younger bands and a lot of punk generations, very powerful music, brilliant songs,, and never changed their music, lyricsand image.

Even today, when Charlie is as old as my grandpa, they´re still making shows, releasing albums and bringing the crowd good moments. This kind of bands can´t die. UK Subs Will Last For Ever. LEGENDS. never sellouts.

  • This is more punk than GBH's song of the same title.

    Sheer awesomeness.

  • Hey, in my country(Poland) this gig is offical dvd called :"U.K.Subs Live in Bremen 1982" - and is nice!

  • police state is still a song which still applies int he so called battle against terrorism!!!!!

  • is this gig in germany?

  • i found it on soulseek

  • now THESE are the days! .... shit i wish i grew with these kinds of music around me.... not every fuckin' emo fags everywhere ... gigs like these are fucking rare nowadays ....

  • thank goodness he doesnt sound like gary glitter too

  • sweet fro.

  • Thx Sham64.1/2 You sure cheered up this old fart! Cheers mate!

  • The 3 tracks from the Shake Up the City EP. Fucking raw, pure UK '82. My favorite 3 tracks of U.K. Subs. Really though, if you happen to come across of the DVD of this show, get it. It's super good. Live in Breman '82, I think.

  • UK Forever !

Great Britain rules the world !

Punk, anarchy and some more Guinness !!!

  • Guiness is Irish dude.

  • jajajajaja

  • Fuckin' love it.

  • my favourite songs of uk subs and nearly the only ones I like of them :D

  • No offence to any Americans but how did I know you were a fucking yank?

  • joeycadre, who the fuck are you?

  • I wouldn't consider this as a "sellout" media show if that's what you're implying. This was a time (at least in Europe) before MTV and I don't blame the band cashing in on their success ('cos there was nearly to none at the time which was 1982 for godsakes). I'm glad there are documents of this type surviving AND with a LIVE good quality sound.

  • They are such a sellout band that when I saw them last at the Lion's Lair in Denver, there were a total of maybe 35 people there.

    Wannabe punk princesses.

  • So, what's the problem?

All 35 punks in Denver showed up!

  • Yeah, that's about it. They still put on an excellent show and I would go to see them as many times as I could.

  • @joeycadre dont watch the video if u dont like it

  • @joeycadre

Wrong target - Fame, hits and TV appearances came and went for Charlie Harper but he's still gigging with Subs playing pretty much anywhere including the dives and probably squats as well. Who cares if he did the odd TV appearance in now and again when he got the opportunity. Harper is more punk than most people.

  • @joeycadre suck a dick.so real punk bands cant be on tv? ur so dumb

  • Not The Ramones, Not The Sex Pistols or The Clash, UK SUBS are the grandfathers of UK Hardcore Punk

    UK82 4 LIFE

  • well sadly these are their only hardcore songs

  • What are you saying?

Uk Subs were one of the pioneers of the hardcore, obviously they´re not The Exploited or Discharge, but were a major influence in the UK82 sound, Uk Subs rules and have a lot of kickass songs

  • hm yeah okay that's right ... I compared them to discharge gbh exploited varukers and all these guys ;)

  • Emotional Blackmail is pretty hardcore for 1980. Listen to those vocals. The majority of Brand New Age is pretty "hardcore". And then the Riot and Quintessential albums are pretty intense, too.

  • whats the sub's best album?

  • 999 self destruct,I wish I was at that fuckin gig looks awesome.

  • BRILLIANT!!!

  • 999

    Self Destruct

  • think drummer is kim wylie if that helps

  • Yes, that is Nicky G on guitar (otherwise known as god), oh and it's Alvin on bass (not Avin as you'd put). Not sure who the drummer is tho'

  • Ziveo UK SUBS

  • i wish punk scenes are still as cool as these....... emo just suck too much...dont even know why people listen to it...

  • punk is what you make it. don't blame the other kids when you don't have the balls to make it real......

    pansy.

  • this is punk.. tell me if you can still see punk sces just like these... besides im more into metal now,but i still listen to these guys..

    dipshit

  • yeah dude. production values and multicamera angles are so punk rock. sheesh.

punk rock is about reality and not staged crap.

and if you moved on to metal then you're jsut a turd looking for a clique, not a punk.

  • I agree with you on the staged shit but theres nothing wrong with Metal. Been Deathrock/Punk since 83 to present and used to think that way. Lighten up and enjoy all kinds of music. Who gives a shit what genre its from.

  • Can any of you complete the line up? Avin on bass, Charlie on vocals... Is that still Nicky Garratt on guitar?? Thanks.

  • pun not dead in youtube la honorable sociedad

  • Arriva esos UkSubs

  • 12XU!!!!!!

  • police state is a cracking song, punkdestroy i was born in 71 its as frustrating coz i can remember the whole thing but its not much use when your as young as that.but old enough to know it was the music for me "punks not dead"

  • man this was the year i was born!! LOL!! but i'm glad punk choose me! this makes me wish i was 15 in 1977! i've seen uks ubs but it will never be the same! man i wish punk shows looked as cool as they look here! keep the eighties alive!

  • Excellent clip.

  • aúpa ahi esos Uk!!!

  • great songs, but fucking hell charlie, wots with the fucking big hair and specks, we can forgive you............punks not dead...i feel it sometimes and looking at these vids brings it all back, great times, great memories, glad i was there.

  • Aaaah...Alvin Gibbs...the coolest bassman ever! Shame about Charlies Foster Grants!!

  • Great choice of songs. No doubt to promote the 82' release of "Shake up the City" which features but W.O.T.R. & Police State. Still got my Nicky Garratt autographed copy!

    >;)

  • no im not joking!! i actualy meen it!!

  • are ya joking?

  • my dad played with the subs... cool huh?

  • What's his name and what did he play??

  • amazing!

  • thats cool!! here one apparently finds everything. this was in Bremen / Germany - a tv broadcasting. I am there also somewhere with. do not recognise me, however, again. geil! gibts von der sendung noch mehr??

p.s.ein kameraman ging bei dem gig ko und radio bremen hatte danach auch keinen bock mehr live-punk sendungen :-)

  • hehe kann ich mir vorstellen =)

  • yay

  • Punks Not Dead!

  • As long as there is also Garratt and Gibbs, I don't mind the haircut ! They still kick ass !

  • Great Band. Talk about " I Couldn't be You".

    The U.K. Subs are "Punk".

  • still one of the best punk bands so fuck you lot who dont think so

  • althoug i dont like very much uksubs, i must recon that those songs are fukin great. nice drumming.

Let´s go for another 30 years of puNk!!

  • I agree with you , they're not that bad but there were a lot of other bands who made better music, but these three songs are awesome and they are their best tracks (and their fastest)

  • Aghhhh, the Classic Harper, Garrett, Gibbs line up. Endangered Species is by far their best Album (Not That these songs appear on that piece of vinyl

  • Great video cheers for putting up!

Just where do you get them all?!

  • Hm I don't know it but this one seems to be recorded from TV,N3 is a german TV channel, but I don't know just a speculating =)
