Is there a specific distance you have to be to preform the fatalities? I usually play Kitana, and you have to be like right next to the person to give 'em the kiss of death or whatever it's called.

I just don't know how close or far away I have to be to do the other stuff...

And frankly, I don't think I hit the button's fast enough to even DO the other fatalities.

@PlutoArbeitsamt for animalities, you have to wait for the third round, once it says finish him, you have to do a "no mercy" which is press V, V, V, V, V+run. (V=down btw) then when you beat them again and it says finish him, do the animality :)

It's not hard, did you know that there's a way to trick your oponent in master column. All you have to do is just jump backwards and press low kick and they will throw something at you and you can dodge it if you have Smoke, Scorpion, Ermac, Sector, or any other that dissapears and then you do that continuously. I bet you did not know that.
