I don't think the government should be in the business of killing people. It's arcane and incredibly barbaric and crazy. It makes the US look really bad in the eyes of the world. The only exception would be child killers like Andrea Yates. In their cases, they should die in the same manner as the kids they killed. There are only a small handful of cases like her's so it would be extreamly rare.

Every death row inmate is automatically on suicide watch. They die when the state says they can so they could play oasis all the time but it would just lead to insanity lol
I think hiding the excution behind closed doors is wrong, if anything either televise the event to young offenders and/or have them taken on a tour of a death row/chamber and maybe these thugs might just think about their future. To be honest, if they were told that they are ALL just one violent act away from that very chamber, hopefully it would scare the shit out of them. For those who would put on a hard act whilst on tour, their inner state may well be the same as everyone else at reality.
Im against the Death Penalty for one reason only. The possibility of killing a victim of miscarriage of justice/innocent. It has happened and will continue to happen. But only that. Besides spending the rest of your life in solitary is a bigger punishment than dying with a needle in your arm. Even if you heve to wait 10 years for it, it only takes a very short while to die.

I used to be against the death penalty. Not anymore. When someone strips a person's chance at life, they too will suffer the same consequences. If all the Death Row inmates were realsed on ONE day in 2010, and 65 of those released in ONE day committed a further murder - That would constitute a 2% rate of recidivism.

The death penalty is completely against basic human rights, a declaration that the US signed. Hence not in any state, there should be NO death penalty. Prison is about rehabilitation from previous ways, this is not rehabilitation. This is anger, this gives these people the easy way out.

What declaration did the US sign where we stated we would abolish the death penalty? Second off, there are such things as people who can not be rehabilitated. If prisons could truly rehabilitate everyone then there would be no repeat offenders. There are those who see the light and turn around. I don't think the government should be in the business of killing people. It's arcane and incredibly barbaric and crazy. It makes the US look really bad in the eyes of the world. The only exception would be child killers like Andrea Yates. In their cases, they should die in the same manner as the kids they killed. There are only a small handful of cases like her's so it would be extreamly rare.

I think hiding the excution behind closed doors is wrong, if anything either televise the event to young offenders and/or have them taken on a tour of a death row/chamber and maybe these thugs might just think about their future. To be honest, if they were told that they are ALL just one violent act away from that very chamber, hopefully it would scare the shit out of them. Im against the Death Penalty for one reason only. The possibility of killing a victim of miscarriage of justice/innocent. It has happened and will continue to happen. But only that. Why tell them anything? If a murderer is released, it seems the kinder thing not to tell the victim's family anything about it. Opening up old wounds can sometimes be as cruel as causing the original, fresh wound.
Often, when people commit murder, they do it in the heat of the moment. Most murders are accidents of either rage, intoxication or passion.
However, the imposition of the death penalty IS a sober, premeditated, cold-blooded act of wilful destruction...

I will bring up Norway again, 21 year max sentence, whilst having one of the lowest murder rates in the world, and lowest accurance of criminals re committing an offence. Thats why we have laws, to separate humans from animals with no responsibilities for their actions. No matter how bad your situation is, you can choose to either break the law or not break it.

But killing people who break the law is a whole new story, and especially in blood thirsty states like Texas where half the criminals get a terible public defendent etc... Fuck the death penalty.

If they are phsycopaths like a previous uneducated person has said they belong in mental institutions. i read these comments about rehabilitation, how to u suggest we rehabilitate someone that rapes a 8 month old boy and a 1 1/2 year old girl, then cuts their heads off and burns the bodies. fuck it just put them back in society. and by the way they sit on death row for all these years due the the appeals process. You can't rehabilitate anybody that is taken a life in a deliberate act. I'm not talking about manslaugther,accidental, I talking about taken a life on purpose and knowingly and deliberately.
These murderer, Ted Bundy, Richard Ramiz, etc. Are all serial killers and a dam smart one too.
These murderers will not stop until they are caught and that is a FACT!

@ItzZane This is true, but what are the circumstances? The easy way out is to die and if it is in war this happens all of the time. Prison is worse than death, in my opinion. How could you sit in prison for 30-40 years thinking about why you are in here everyday? Makes no sense. Plus, thousands of these idiots are free waiting on death row for years. Life imprisonment is a much better option in my opinion, but you texas rednecks always want to execute people when maybe 1 or 2 are innocent.

The death penalty is completely against basic human rights, a declaration that the US signed. Hence not in any state, there should be NO death penalty. Prison is about rehabilitation from previous ways, this is not rehabilitation. This is anger, this gives these people the easy way out.
No matter what somebody has done, their human rights should never be taken away.

They are verminous scum who need to be put down, they are beyond redemption and rehabilitation. As for the rotten food they are supposedly fed, why are they being fed at all ? @MutantHaydon I watched a program a few years ago now it was about Americas most notorious killers. One of them was a guy that had raped and killed 4 teenage girls! His last crime he kid napped two girls one 13 one 14.He raped the 14 year old and killed her while the younger girl watched and then raped and killed her. He strangled them with there shoe lassies. He said in the documentary he felt bad because the younger girl was so compliant in the rape! So you think he still deserves rights????

What declaration did the US sign where we stated we would abolish the death penalty? Second off, there are such things as people who can not be rehabilitated. If prisons could truly rehabilitate everyone then there would be no repeat offenders. There are those who see the light and turn around. But there are too many who either think that they are doing nothing wrong, or just don't care and never will care.

Intentional murder in the course of committing or attempting to commit a felony offense. Murder for remuneration or for promise of remuneration.
