Be careful digging through the past for prophets. The countless "erroneous" predictions that dwarfed the "accurate" ones are not uploaded to YouTube 12 years later. Being right about the present in the past does not mean you are right about the future in the present. That said, the theories here seem plausible and damn... these guys nailed the time-frame.

This is a good book. Read it a couple years ago.

This is extremely informative. Many of their predictions have come to pass and nearly right on the time they predicted. I don't understand why their theory hasn't gained more attention.

People then may not have believed it, but 14 years later, you'll see that Strauss and Howe were actually right.

Now we know what was behind the thinking of Cheney/ Bush. Despite being elected as small Govn't, fiscal "conservatives" they expanded Govn't & spent every dime & earmark possible behind 3 off budget wars. Now republicans are saying that "Bush" betrayed conservative values. Except Bush wasn't running the country, Cheney was. So that means Cheney or the RNC were't conservative enough. Now that they are out of power they are suddenly fiscally "reborn" with Obama as "socialist". A PR miracle.

@TenderTrap86, Wasn't my point at all. Both parties are corrupt on the national level but not equally. The reason the Abramoff scandal was so limited was b/c republicans were handling it. Both sides do spin but the GOP PR propaganda juggernaut is beyond amazing. The GOP starts 3 wars, Iraq, Afghan, War On Terror, ALL OFF BUDGET All 3 are now in Obama's budget who then is attacked for "record" deficits. I wonder how it got to record levels? 7 trillion in deficit before taking office.

This is very fascinating. They were spot on too. They said teh nyears from 1997. I don't know if that was a rough estaimate, but the economic crisis did start in early 2007. It looks like we're headed into Great Depression II.

terrance mackena, ray kurzweil , Carl Seagan, Moor's law and others have worked out models that follow a clear pattern...and those patterns are always accelerating until they find another paradigm shift. Hence, the pyramidal form of the Mayan long count calendar... for example 2012 is the date the Mayans worked out for the next paradigm shift with a 20 year transitional period, which is in accordance to the models by the authors I mentioned. Its pretty incredible and fascinating stuff!!

I agree with the nature of cycles, but I don't believe its only true on western societies. For example, the ancient Mayans derived their believes and calendars based on patterns in history, by knowledge passed down from generation to generation. It just happens to be more difficult to notice because events played out in a much longer scale that its happening now....
