my 1989 Mercedes does that idle problem also it's kinda high and it shifts hard when it's that high, the smog shop said it's supposed to idle at 750rpm I think it might be the air compensator module. not sure though.....

LOL actually this car was at auction ( most of the cars on my channel are ).. Tho my parents did have a few of these when I grew up. I recall them averaging around 17 MPG.. On str8 Hwy u may be lucky to reach 20 MPG.. About the same as a chevy Tahoe really :)

It's fuel injected, If I'm not mistaking all of the engines in this generation S-Class from 1979-1991 ( W126 ) are all fuel injected but it's a mechanical system.

Probably more impeccable than me LOL... Yeah it was perfect all around & that mileage is actually low for this car, it's nothing for this. Next owner ought to preserve it.
