  • @sonia26625 A 'Tip' is when somebody give you a good idea that may or may not benefit you. For example ..."A friend gave me a good tip the other day. He told me to buy some Gold or Silver Dihrams so I have some 'real' money when hyper-inflation hits and the dollar collapse's....."

One small comment: it was disliked by the Prophet (pecae be upon him) to take naps after Asr. Naps were taken anytime before Asr, as a general rule.

  • Very nice video dear sister, Masha ALLAH. May you be blessed in this life and the Hereafter, ameen, wassalamu alaikoum wa rahmutallahi wa barakatuhu

  • I understand ramadan is a ritual that is used to teach 'self-restraint' and I'm interested in this.

I understand that during ramadan at dawn no consumption of animals is allowed or even plants. But people can consume water and smoke? Then around 7:27 pm (today for instance) you prey. Then at 7:30 you pray on 'fresh lamb'? Then the cycle resumes again. In short, no eating beasts until night time and deprive yourself of the opportunities for diseases of affluence while fasting.

  • hello, I'm glad you're interested in Ramadan

well, I'm not really sure where you got your information from, but you're around 25% correct. During the month of Ramadan, Muslims believe that God has commanded them to fast from dawn until dusk. During the daylight hours, we do not eat, or drink ANYTHING (even water). We cannot have sex, even with our spouse, or smoke, or swear, as these all negate our fast. Smoking and swearing are considered sinful anyways, but especially during Ramadan.

  • @Ayah12790 Excellent answers. I could not have said it any better myself. May Allah reward you my firend

  • Muslims pray five times a day, once at the break of dawn, once shortly after the sun has passed through the zenith of the sky, once in the afternoon, once when the sun sets (this is when we break our fast), and once at night. As for the "fresh lamb," I think you're confusing Ramadan with Eid al Adha, which commemorates the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham(as). We can have lamb for iftar (the meal) but also many MANY other things as well. We break our fast with either water or a date (the fruit).

  • @Chrisisms. During Ramadan muslims fast from dawn to dusk. During fasting time we do not eat, drink and smoke anything. Also a muslim should try their best to refrain from committing any kind of sin and concentrate on more prayers. Please also note that a muslim can fast any time of the year any day except some special days. But fasting the whole month of Ramadan is obligatory for any healthy muslim. Fasting means not only refrain of eating but also refrain from any kind of sins. Eating food ...

  • @Chrisisms There is no putting anything in your mouth including medicine. No smoking. No food. No drink. After the sun has set you can break your fast with the calll to pray to the sunset prayer. YOu can eat whatever you want. It is preferable to break your fast with water and dates. Whenever a muslim eats he says Bismilleh which means in the Name of GOd.

  • @Chrisisms Why don't you try to fast one day with us? I am sure any muslim would love to have you to break their fast with you (evening meal). :)

  • @Chrisisms We Muslims-especially these days-are feeling quite embattled. There are those who like to spread miss information about us and one of the main sources of our paranoia is what the average Joe actually thinks of us and our (and your) religion. Make no mistake until you've fasted you'll NEVER know how hard it is and people just think we ONLY forgo certain meats. You've been ripped off in keeping you uninformed. To feel true empathy with the hungry is life changing. We don't hate either

  • @Chrisisms I take that back... we DO hate. We hate intolerance (even ignorant so called Muslims) we hate those who oppress the weak. How we treat those less fortunate is a measure of true humanity. We HATE those who abuse the old, the weak or simple minded. We are told to stop fighting Immediately upon our opponent giving way. We are not allowed to cut down trees or molest ANY Church Priest or Synagogue or it's Rabbi's. We hate those who would force religion. God says in Qur'an NOT TO

  • @abuBakr97 "We are not allowed to cut down trees "

But slay lamb, ritually? And feed to human offspring? And in spite of the health risks associated with red meat intake?

  • @crisology During the time of the Prophet (PBuH) it is recorded that he would be fortunate to eat meat three times in a month so it wouldn't have been an issue (maybe to the Goat or Lamb) I'm a Muslim veggie bye the way. I expect the 'red' meat was a lot more healthy than that which we eat now. My comment 'We are not allowed to cut down trees'.. I was alluding to the instructions given to Ali when he was sent by the Prophet on a military campaign alluding to his sensitivity toward others..

  • @crisology molecules but when your fasting and not eating complex carbs, the next most assimilable form of energy is fat.. so as the fat gets used the toxins all get flushed at the same time. By the end of ramadan one's whole system feels tighter and just BETTER. You FEEL the benefits to the system. I cannot begin to tell you the pleasure and confidence one gets from flexing ones will power and winning. I'm sure it does great things in one neurological pathways. It's hard to do NOTHING

  • @crisolgy ... if you think about it one's whole digestive system NEVER gets a break in your whole life (other than 7 or 8 hours in bed) but having a difficult thing (that obviously is to one's benefit) 'forced' on you is a good thing and that system gets a break from the mouth to the anus and everything in between. Muslims are less prone to heart disease and a whole raft of cancers, blood disorders and believe it or not mental issue's.... and that is all verifiable fact.

  • @Chrisisms I would be genuinely interested where you got this information from. During Ramadan, as much as one's job/family (who if over 7 is fasting also) allows you should be living like a monk in some ways.ALL you spare time should be in remembrance of God in whatever form of worship you choose. Modern parlance might be God conscious. Today 5/8/11 we have a small meal at 03:46 NOTHING passes the lips (or any sexual excitement including heavy petting) till 20:42. Eat/dk lightly in between

  • @abuBakr97 My concern has been what happens the second after Ramadan ends. I realize that during Ramadan nothing is to be consumed. I'm curious about the cyclic switch that is made after Ramadan, resuming the cycle.

  • @crisology This is a very good and poignant question. Ramadan is there amongst other things to show us how we SHOULD be all year round. It's a way of pulling us back from our own indulgent nature. Some Muslims stay up all night stuffing themselves and then sleep all day obviously missing the point. The same men and women are hardly likely to be observant. But for those that are I can assure you the benefits are enormous. Because it's so difficult the confidence boost one gets is considerable

  • @crisology You say your curious about the cyclic switch that is made after Ramadan. The whole point is to firstly make one aware of state of hunger and thirst and create a genuine empathy for those less fortunate. But oh what joy it is to wake up and have a nice cup of coffee afterward. One really does appreciate the little things much more. It often takes the stomach a month or two to re stretch and consequently one eats smaller portions. Technically speaking toxins attach to fat moleculs

  • very nice

  • Well done.

  • i want the audio of the song wich is in the beginning of this video... :)... its amazing... Mashallah... where can i get the audio ???

  • AA bro,

The name of the song Is Welcome O ramadan by i think Zain bhikha. You can probably google nasheeds by zain bhika and find a reliable source. Hope this helped. Ramadan Mubarak.

  • Welcome Oh Ramadan by Zain Bhikha...enjoy...its on here

  • MashaAllah a nice video sister, I just have to agree with one thing "gagmagag80" said.. its not advisable to take a nap after asr but rather after dhuhr, meaning BETWEEN DHUHR AND ASR. It is also a sunnah. May Allah reward you and all fasting brothers and sisters , and help all of us practice our religion the right way so that Allah swt is satisfied with us ameen

  • Ameen ameen! Jazak Allah khair for correcting me...I had no idea! But alhamdolillah now I do :) Anyways, thank you so much for teaching me something new (alhamdolillah I always try to learn at least one new thing pertaining to Islam a day). Ramadan Mubarak!

  • thanks i just started doing my frist year of ramandan cuse my mom thinks i,m finly old inuf

  • ZEN, inshalla

  • assalamualikum sister,

mayallah bless you. what a great video but i have one problem. you know #3, around 3:52 when you said to sleep after asr and set the alarm. it is not good and not from the sunnah to sleep after asr. Why? you ask..because after asr there are devils. but since the devils are locked up i am not sure about it..but regular days its true. please correct me if i am wrong

  • and Ramadan Kareem!!

  • Salaam aleikun sister, the song between 3:53-6:25 lighten up my room,it is like am being blessed and also being welcome to al janat.

Could you please tell me where i can get the full part of the song?.

  • wa alaikum salaam brother, this beautiful nasheed is called "Ramadan" by Mishary al Arada. Insh'Allah, I can email it to you, if you'd like.

  • Thank you sister,i would like to have it.

  • Wow, mashAllah! This is very impressive, assuming you are just a teenager, correct? Well, I am a teenager and I am happy to learn these tips at a young age, so that I can take them with me for my future years of fasting, isa. I will continue to further my knowledge about my religion, to the best I can, with the help of videos like these :) ! Isa, Keep inspiring Muslims to spread the knowledge. Jazak Allah Khair and may Allah bless you for educating the youth. Ramadaan Karim. Laillaha ill Allah !

  • There is something i think it's WRONG about this that yeah i agree that we fast Ramadan for the sake of Allah but ALSO to feel other poor people and that's true also to learn to be patience and in control of our desires

    Thank you

  • Well, the REASON why we fast is stated clearly in the Qur'an, Allah(swt) says that it is to "make us among the pious" The REASON why we fast, and Allah(swt) knows best, is purely for the sake of Allah(swt).

Now these other things that you mentioned are not REASONS why we fast, rather, they are RESULTS of fasting. A RESULT is a bit different than a REASON. We feel and learn these things because we fast for Allah(swt). And Allah(swt) knows best.

    Ramadan Mubarak!

  • JAZAKALLAH KHAIR GOD BLESS YOU

  • thank you! i learned some new things. this will be my 2nd Ramadan and I did some things last year that dont want to repeat! (like sleep in a lot and stay up @ night) i also engaged in a argument about my period. it seems as if sisters have to automatically make up 7 days after ramadan just because of Allahs swt 'gift' of menstruation...

  • what does congregation mean?:P

  • salaam, its praying together in a group with one leading the prayer as an imaam

(done in the mosque but could also be done at home)

  • Barek Alluhu fiki Ayah. This is a great video with excellent tips for the coming ramadan. May god reward you for it Inshallah.

  • Thank you so much! This is my first Ramadan coming up and I am very excited! Your tips were great!

  • I have been praying, but I made it 4 times a day until I am more organized in my lifestyle because schools coming up, so for the meantime I make Du'a whenever it hits me. Is that still enough as Salat?

It is real hard to fast.lol This is my 1st Ramadan alhamdu-lilah.

    Salaam-alaikum. =]

  • MashaAllah sister this is beautiful video and helpful this is my first ramadan also el7amdulillah im excited as well and pray that my fasting is accepted by Allah and im gonna be my very best on ramadan insha'Allah

  • MAY ALLAH GIVE YOU MORE RAMADAN IN YOUR LIFE .. :-) nice to know that :-) MASHALLAH... just follow the instructions as sister gave .. .:D

  • Thanks alot sisters.. I need your prayers please pray for me :S

  • The sleeping thing... very true... LOL

  • Jazakillah khayran katheera! This is a great idea and it made me feel that Ramadan's already here!

May Allah reward you much much much for this! SubhanAllah!

  • As someone who is not Muslim, I mean no disrespect, but Ramadan sounds like a b*tch. I have questions: one, if you are a diabetic Muslim on medication that you have to take with food do you still fast? And about the part where you don't fast if you have your period, what if the period starts after Ramadan has already started, do you just quit? I hope I don't offend, I'm just trying to learn - have always been curious about other cultures. Thanks!

  • Hello ^_^

Well, if you're diabetic, and Allah(swt) knows best, you actually don't really have to fast at all if it's going to cause you problems, especially if it's going to endanger your life. There are a lot of Muslims who are medically unable to fast, and that's perfectly okay. What they do instead is they feed the poor and give charity to make up for not fasting.

    (continued)

  • Hi!

That's very good to know. Good to know there's a medical waiver from all that fasting! LOL

  • If you are a woman, and you get your period during Ramadan, you simply do not fast while you are on your period (it would be kind of dangerous to give up food and water while we're bleeding, as we lose so much iron while we're menstruating). However, once your period is done, you go back to fasting. All you have to do is make up for the days that you did not fast while you were on your period by fasting that number of days later in the year.

    Hope this helped ^_^

  • It does, thanks! That also tells me that Muslims don't have to fast just during Ramadan, then. Appreciate your help!

  • actually if one is sick , too young or old they don't fast. As for women that are on their period they don't fast or pray during the time, Allah knows that its a hard time for our bodies, but it be made up later on.. If im mistaken may Allah forgive me for I am human and may make mistakes, and a recent convert ..

  • assalamu alaikum sister this is such a nice reminder MashaAllah, and im very excited as this is my first Ramadan Alhamdulillah :)

  • Jazakillah khairan! Oh, that got me in the mood for Ramadan:) So true, people attempt to explain this fasting to non-muslims like "we do it so we can feel sympathy for the poor and hungry" yet in the quran it's clear "la3alakumtataqoon" ...not "so you may feel hungry or loose some weight or feel sympathy for the poor" It may be a result of fasting though and Allah is All Knowing and All Wise. Elhamdulillah for Ramadan:)

  • Asalaamu alaikum sister

Very helpful and reminders to everyone :D

    Mash'Allah

    Hanna
