i loved the musical it was awsome and iv seen and met the phantom without his mask backstage i got his autograph i wasent freaked out by him he told me how he was ment to have got his injuries he had acid thrown in his face he said ouch but its a great show id highly recomend it
Yes, I agree I saw it 4 times on stage and loved it every single time I got a cahnce to see it the first time I saw the show I was 10 years old and I was scared of the Phantom when he did the evil laugh at the end of All I ask of You (Reprise)! I saw the show when I lived in Florida. I went with my mother, father aunt and uncle as a late birthday present! I had crappry seats all the way in the back of the auditorium! I love this show I own all the CDs of Phantom!
I went to this :D But the time I was the there The guy who was "The Phantom" wasn't there so they had a substitute. I like the sub better than the original guy :S he sounds better (to me) lol but that was like a year ago :S
Great vid, but for anyone who is trying to do Behind the Scenes stuff, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE note what version, e.g. Broadway, 2004 movie, etc.....It has caused me so much trouble!!!!
i dislike when people say their tour is just like broadway or london, we know the difference. on that note, i'll be seeing the downscaled us tour of mary poppins in 2009, ugh.
The Phantom tour IS complete. I've seen B'way and the tour. Numerous times. The only (and minor) differences are that the candelabras track on from the wings rather than rise through the floor, Raoul's bridge jump is slightly different and sometimes so is the Phantom's disappearance after Masquerade. If there are any other differences they would be because of limitations of the local venue, not because the show has been scaled back.
Theres really nothing that can be done in terms of the candelabras rising from the floor. Not all theaters have the adequate space underneath the stage to house such set pieces let alone make them rise out. I've been under the stage at the Allen theater in Cleveland (where Phantom tours).. and really the height is no taller than a standard room.. although it was pretty hollow
In the case of Phantom the tour brings their own 10" high showdeck. This houses the candles, fake footlights, the two prompter's boxes etc. Generally scenery that tracks onto the stage "unaided" has a "knife blade" on its bottom that inserts through a slot in the deck and engages a winch system that draws the scenery on and off stage.
When the tour was in Toronto the chandelier never shook over audience & for the roof top scene christine & raoul come don't come up a staircase under stage, they come on from off stage.
Minor changes need to be made to accommodate the different theatres. Not every theatre is designed the same. Sometimes they need to scale the orchestra back too if the pit isn't spacious enough.
This is so cool! I love watching backstage things like this. My theaters quickchange is pretty bad. Its under a stairwell which is directly backstage, and there ass naked girls changing out of dresses and stuff, but other girls try to cover them as much as possible, haha.
Actually you will be surprised at how Phantom on broadway gets things done.. there is a point in the show (before masquerade) where female members need to make a quickchange.. this takes place on a stairwell, which is publicly accessible .. so every once in a while audience members venture in by mistake
AHH please come back to the theater!!!! D:

those details you mentioned are very important to me because i am a set design fanatic. it's the biggest reason why i see a show.
dsdffdsfdsdsffsd 3 years ago
ok then, can you tell me how the set moves magically with no one pushing it?

isn't it obvious?

@RaWrZzZz I wouldn't say that. The movie has its advantages...and the theatrical production has its advantages. Everybody has his/her own taste.
