power, in the metaphysical sense, is the capacity to shape collective will into realising a narrow agenda, but the only way there can be collectivity of will is through coercion. democracy is the ultimate coercive tactic whereby the coerced believe that the agenda they strive to realize is their own. where a pageantry of superficial and extremely limited choice suffices as a platonic shadow of freedom
When democracy, organized people have the supreme power, then it is democracy. When the supreme power rests in the hands of a portion of the people, then this is called aristocracy.
The chorus of this song is fucking epic. The meaning of it is spot on, in terms of our tyrannical leaders of the world. This song almost makes me cry in anger anf frustration that our world is so fucked up these days...
A word concocted by some English capitalist in the late 1800's to denote the power of the market place hardly represents the power of the people who never talk, let alone co-operate together in favour of action, corporate or tribal, in support of or as a rival, in the market place, as once were the case in Athens and elsewhere.
@longfootbuddy IMO that's an empty shelter - by surface it seems to be government of people, but inside it's shallow, lacking the principles that led to democracy.
@longfootbuddy What alternative do you propose? The only government that allows everyone to do exactly what they want to do is no government, i.e,. anarchy. If I'm wrong, correct me and say what it is you want.
@mujerado i believe in consent of the governed.. i dont hurt anyone or commit any real crimes against anyone or anything.. i dont need or want goverment ordering me around and threatening me with fines, imprisonment and violence if i dont comply with its rules.. and i dont like being forced to hand over money because i own property or work for a living.. those types of laws are for slaves, and its all enforced by the gun
@KingCrimson776 I like their 90's stuff and the 80's stuff (well, at least their stuff from 79-85) but i think the last 3 albums they made have been some of their strongest imo. where most people in their late 40's and 50's calm down Killing joke just keep bringing on the assault, its great that they are still around and with the original line up again too!
@texasB666 Agreed, for democracy to work, 51% of the people must agree and want the same things, of course this also means that 49% of the people don't get what they want..

How Toronto police abuses law? 1st they instigate public against the target citizen who has questioned police abuse of power under citizen action against crime (a cover up for defamation of character by police). When poor target citizen reacts/ gets into a fight with the mislead public bullying them upon police instigation, the police will arrest the target citizen. This is how they set up elimination of citizens' civil rights in Canada. In Canada police doesn't need evidence to torture citizens
@MisAnnThorpe So true, a few more rights for the commoners? sure, but in the end its always the rich and powerful who control everything, little to nothing has changed the last 2000 years as far as politics and people getting their voices heard
This is one of the greatest songs ever written... truth be told.. George Carlin said it best... garbage in garbage out, this is the best we can do folks:)
I was familiar with only the name of the band (I was more an Iron Maiden kind of gal) but after reading an article about Killing Joke in the newest Rue Morgue, was intrigued. Anybody got in recommendations for a first album purchase?
I'm not from the U.S. and I had hope for Obama. If I am completely honest, it's partly because he was black, and because he talked about more money for science and less warfare... These are all good things, and whether or not he comes good on his word is a totally different issue. The people have no choice but to vote as if they trust what politicians say; what are they gonna do, look into the future? Obama's heart is in the right place, I think, but he needs to move his ass.
Having a black president means a hell of a lot. We can all bullshit each other and say 'race doesn't matter at all!', but let's just be honest here...
America had never had a black president. They just elected one. First time in history. 60 years ago black people couldn't even vote... So maybe race has nothing to do with politics, but racial equality has everything to do with politics, and that's what I was referring to.
I have a little trouble with the lyrics: "A powerhouse that is morally Mechula". This is what all the lyrics sites tell me. What is Mechula? Does he really sing this? Sounds more like "morally a fool" or something similar. Help!

this video is a mirror of our time.Obama is just an another piece of crap.Well puppet of a big crap.He can change maybe his hair cut but nothing more.If he will do some big changes he will buy a bullet into his head as Kennedy did.Obama is 100 % pointless. He's the same shit as Bush,Bush father etc. Illuminati did a good job once again.Brainwashing the US ppl is still so easy.
He's already blocked more abuse photos getting released. Reinstated military trials for certain prisoners, and doens't seem to be doing anything about prosecuting the previous administraion.
@musicusaddictus but atleast hes not going to war with iran- i guarantee if republicans win in 2012 the first thing on their agenda will be war with iran- just watch!!! The corporatemilitary complex always needs a conservative to push their war agenda! Obama may be pointless but atleast Palin didnt get within a Mccain heartattack from the white house
@musicusaddictus are you fucking stupid obama managed to carry out many of the promises he made, he broke only a small few, and yet he's still working on carrying out the others............. mabye you should take the time to look into what you've already decided into your head, you have little answers and you constrict yourself by being ignorant
Oh how I love how everyone voted for Obama and yet they are still in the same shit they were 8 years ago. and they are all bitching, moaning, or groaning because THEY aren't being given their nice excessive lifestyles that so many of my countrymen have fallen prey to.
It's a shame how a lot of Generation X turned out to be like their parents, the Baby-Boomers, just as whiny, greedy, narcissistic(sp?), and 'GIMME THAT, IT'S MINE" filled. Oh well, people get what they deserve.
@SeanGoatboy some of what you say is true, but all generations the same - a lot of the so called now generation (or next) just as materialistic (some more so now!) full of crap. What counts is how you adapt, treat others. Obama hasn't delivered what ? Before was crap. Changes never happen overnight or in 8 years. I lived in the UK, am Australian - live in Australia - much of the globe is the same. Not only Politicans - industry, business, people we all do the damage. It's a KILLING JOKE.
@SeanGoatboy Generation X missed itself, it was in the '90s when we were all children. Everything was better and more free then, music, movies, politics. Its sad the past was more intouch with the future than what the actual future is. No one could wait for 2000, but now its here and it sucks bad
@TheNyteChyld the 90s sucked ass- the real zeitgeist was the 60s! Seriously the only thing worse than the 90s was the 80s- weve been a downward trajectory since 1975
@salvadory Mostly agreed, the music was good in the '80s, the culture was alittle whacked. But I think some some of the '90s were relatively close to the '60s what with the Rave culture and all, I don't see the violence being an excuse to call the 90s bad cause the 60s were just as bad, you just don't hear about it unless you do your research. but yeah the 70's were just dirty. Infact when i think of the 70s I seriously think of dirt
@TheNyteChyld actually in my opnion besides a few bands like killing joke the damned jam clash etc most of the music was terrible the production was terrible in the 1980s's! I didnt say the 90s were violent- violence is in every decade- but the 90s bands were all about whining and self pity and mosy of them werent either good or lasted more than two years- yeah the electronic scene was pretty cool but he 60s and 70s were the best because people put the words to action to protest to change -
#You have a choice, we are your voice Red, blue or yellow. We will blow away the green Another five lane motorway (You'll never get a referendum anyway) Funny handshakes. insider dealing Et in arcadia. arcadia ego Backhanders and salamanders A powerhouse that is morally Mechula I'm sorry democracy is changing # What a pisser!
BTW, Democracy did not change. We just do not abide by democratic ideas which is good as 51% of the people can take the rights away form 49% of the people in a pure Democracy. The best form of leadership and control seems to be a mix of government styles that enhance the effectiveness of efficiency and compassion. Two items that seem to be the last priority nowadays.

Actually, there's fluid iside my goiter and when it popped I drank some through a straw. It tasted like coconut milk.

Did it really... you must be a coconut based life form. Mine just tasted of rancid pus.

"Superman ideology" is credited more towards Nietzsche, not Crowley. I'd say Nietzsche inspired Killing Joke just as much.

this video is a mirror of our time.Obama is just an another piece of crap.Well puppet of a big crap.He can change maybe his hair cut but nothing more.If he will do some big changes he will buy a bullet into his head as Kennedy did.Obama is 100 % pointless. He's the same shit as Bush,Bush father etc. Illuminati did a good job once again.Brainwashing the US ppl is still so easy.

He's already blocked more abuse photos getting released. Reinstated military trials for certain prisoners, and doens't seem to be doing anything about prosecuting the previous administraion.
soulofshiver 2 years ago 2
@musicusaddictus but atleast hes not going to war with iran- i guarantee if republicans win in 2012 the first thing on their agenda will be war with iran- just watch!!! The corporatemilitary complex always needs a conservative to push their war agenda! Obama may be pointless but atleast Palin didnt get within a Mccain heartattack from the white house
salvadory 1 year ago
@musicusaddictus are you fucking stupid obama managed to carry out many of the promises he made, he broke only a small few, and yet he's still working on carrying out the others............. mabye you should take the time to look into what you've already decided into your head, you have little answers and you constrict yourself by being ignorant

Definitely one of my favourite bands ever, is all.
I think I like Millennium best though, "All my life, I've been waiting, for this moment baby" yeah.
Underrated, definitely underrated.

Oh well, people get what they deserve.

wow cheers its good to know people like this exist in the us

They turned out like their parents because of their parents
Jagvillkollavald 2 years ago 4
That's a little too reductionist. Using that line of thought, Gen Y should be like their Gen X parents, and thus like their Baby Boomer grandparents.

TheNyteChyld 1 year ago
@TheNyteChyld the 90s sucked ass- the real zeitgeist was the 60s! Seriously the only thing worse than the 90s was the 80s- weve been a downward trajectory since 1975
salvadory 1 year ago
@salvadory Mostly agreed, the music was good in the '80s, the culture was alittle whacked. But I think some some of the '90s were relatively close to the '60s what with the Rave culture and all, I don't see the violence being an excuse to call the 90s bad cause the 60s were just as bad, you just don't hear about it unless you do your research. but yeah the 70's were just dirty. Infact when i think of the 70s I seriously think of dirt
TheNyteChyld 1 year ago
@TheNyteChyld actually in my opnion besides a few bands like killing joke the damned jam clash etc most of the music was terrible the production was terrible in the 1980s's! I didnt say the 90s were violent- violence is in every decade- but the 90s bands were all about whining and self pity and mosy of them werent either good or lasted more than two years- yeah the electronic scene was pretty cool but he 60s and 70s were the best because people put the words to action to protest to change -
salvadory 1 year ago
@salvadory Oh I know you didn't mention violence but thats always what you always hear them talk about on tv.

Love the song...never heard it before.
