@dogterd: WWII was a different time. We are supposed to be more civilized in 2008. Will the US ever learn. That oil in Iraq does not belong to the US. That is why we always have problems. President Eisenhower warned us to beware of the military industrial complex. President Carter warned the people of the US that we are running out of oil. He tried to tell the American people to conserve energy at the time, but the Americans were in love with their cars. This oil shortage is nothing new.

I would say there might be a database that every personal security company might have to go through to be able to be armed in Iraq. This office might be located in Camp Victory, Baghdad Iraq next to a lake that looks like a pair of boobs. The program might be ran by a contracting company called the Sandy Group. I would even say that most of the names might not even be on a classified computer. But who really knows for sure?

Blackwater has been given the freedom of doing what it wants to do and not be held accountable. 70% of our Intelligence in our country has been contracted out. How does that make you feel?.

Jeremy Scahill is ignorant on Blackwater. His research doesn't even touch the the surface of what Blackwater is all about. Blackwater is the greatest thing that has ever happened in terms of the military. Without a unit that goes above and beyond the normal call of cuty, all chaos would break lose.

the only reason i mentioned that specific movie is because i wasnt sure about how much you actually knew about these sort of companies and its an ok movie as far as exposing what these corporations are about. and thats profit, nothing more.
yeh its biased but anyone with a brain can see waht of the movie is fact and what is opinion. so ignore the bias and it still reveals major problems with the current system of privatization of the military and supporting roles

a Eric prince is just about making a profit. He was rich to begin with and was a Navy Seal at one point in time. He saw a way to make money and give his country a service at the same time. whats wrong with that. Its a job that is needed. There was a need for a service and they filled the need. I dont see the problem with this.

theres nothing inherently wrong with making a profit, it comes down to how that profit is made.
from what Ive heard black water employees make something like 6x what regular army make.
so it makes no sense to me why the american govt would pay so much to a private corp. when they could just put that money to use themselves with better pay and equipment for real soldiers.
actually I can think of one reason and that reason is that blackwater cant and wont be held accountable for their actions.

Propaganda vids? Propaganda is the "war on terror," that we are the good guys that are trying to spread "democracy." The arguement agianst private militaries is not propaganda. Being patriotic is about questioning the contracts between the U.S. government and Blackwater. One of the defining characteristcs of a state is the monopoly on the use of violence, and to state a stance agianst this is not propaganda, it is democracy!

Wether or not we agree with it, Private Military Firms like Blackwater are necessary. We cant fight a war with all the publicity that the Military gets, everywhere they go there is a camera, we need to step back and let the guys do their jobs, I know that it doesnt always go as well as we would like it, but thats war, horrible things happen. Its easy to point fingers, but you may have a much different opinion if the bullets were coming towards you.

When you take it to a private force the US public looses it's ability. Being an Army soldier who worked with blackwater I can say from first hand experience....they are cowards. They act like a bunch of cowboys until they hear a shot, and then with out thinking or deciding if it was a US weapon or an AK, blackwater is already targeting people and shooting in all directions. Then they can claim they were fired on because they "heard" shots being fired.
The war in Iraq would be much better if blackwater left and let the Army fo it's job and if need be, Aegis fill in

My friend is a private Contractor (Brit) he got caught in a firefight while helping to guard a USMarine vehicle that was damaged. He ended up giving the Marines instructions and got them out of the area alive.Yanks think their military is unbeatable..they are badly trained, badly led and badly in need of a wake up call!!!

We are a great country because we have laws. I believe in the use for private corps, however we must Govern these contracts by law. Although they do not officially reprsent the US, they do represent our coalition. I feel sorry for the average Convoy, QRF, EOD, or Gun truck operators that will be affected by Mercs mistakes.
