The reason why it should be called Satanism even without a literal "Satan" is because "Satan" is a term not a name of the spooky guy in the bible. "Satan" means Adversary and so in that sense, we are the Adversaries of spirituality, mass conformity, nomianism, selflessness, etc. Satanism, in my view, is taking the role of the devil as an Adversary.
