  • What a f***ing great song! Let's make a pact, shall we, never to speak the names of beyonse or Gaga again.

  • What can I say?...Earth Wind & Fire was the greatest thing to come out of Denver, CO., next to Pam Grier aka Foxy Brown, Sonny Liston, Don Cheadle and many others. My home town has so much talent and always have.

  • Master told me one day I 'll find peace in every way. But it search for the clue, wrong things I was bound to do. Keep my head to the sky for the clouds to tell me why. As I grew with strength. Master kept me as I repent and He said........ I love it!!!

  • I love Philip Bailey and Maurice White

  • Any time a need a lift ICANN only Luzon to this amazing song,,

  • greatest falsetto, even got the man ,prince beat, falsetto wise!

  • One of the best groups of any genre to ever be! This one brings back 1975 Madison Square Garden. That's when it took originality and inspiration to make music. Seems all you need now is a computor and a dash of mediocrity.

  • this was in germany music laden right? so cool

  • Maaan.... Larry head some electricity over there!!! LOL!!! The greatest EVER...The elements!!

  • This song still gives me goosebumps!

  • Best group indeed!

  • whenever i need a pick me up this is it

  • THE BEST GROUP IN THE WORLD! EVER!

  • It is songs like this that help people find a more positivemeaning to their lives! Everyone will not be reached by Gospel music...I am glad that Phillip didn't mind reaching that high note. I lvoe to hear men sing! This is the most soulful band of all times and they know it. I saw them free at the Pomona fair in 04 and was not disappointed. Thanks for the post.

  • @arlenerogerswilhite do you feel like ewf was coming from a spirituall perspective? i do with this song. just wanted to know your opinion. :) kikr franklin sampled this song on his hero album

  • "Keep your head to the sky"...Listen to the Holy Spirit!

  • this is my all time favorite! I remember putting this album on when i thought I was at my lowest,EWF brought me through.

  • this is my all time favorite! I remember putting this album on when i thought I was at my lowest,EWF brought me through

  • Saw EWF live in the late 80's (1987 ???)....can't remember, but I still have the ticket and do remember a grand time with their talents, music and show. It was awesome !!! Also saw Kool & The Gang back then...just as great as EWF !!!

  • Saw EWF live in the late 80's (1987 ???)....can't remember, but I still have the ticket and do remember a grand time with their talents, music and show. It was awesome !!!

  • This is probably my favorite EWF song of all time maybe?

  • AWESOME!

  • My father recorded the whole show on VHS classic...as well, my sis too, we've been watching this performance since we were kids....love it!!

  • DaMN THEM niggas is greasy lol Greatest song ever!

  • I was sixteen in 74 and the message to me was crystal clear!

  • you can put EW&F worst album up against today music&it is still better i have all of their album& i love them all

  • One of the greatest songs, by one of the greatest groups, thank you for posting this masterpiece!

  • This is when artists actually made and created music! No autotune, synthesizers, special microphones for non-singing mofo's just pure raw uncut talent.

  • Aa band of geniuses...my all time favorite funk band.

  • directly from the Masters Chior

  • i notice the diversity of 70's music. no one was the same it was all good b/c everyone had talent

  • @mjjcng8958 best comment I have ever read ..PREACH

  • @mjjcng8958 Hey thanks for writing, yes I do believe this song is very spiritual. Since people would trip about using God I think they just made it less obvious to say they were talking about God. I mean as I hear this song I can only think about God. It is so inspirational, and brought me through al ot of negative situations. Because of this csong I made it through life through iti's words.

  • @arlenerogerswilhite Some critics actually credit them with a subgenre during this period, "Mystical Soul". I would maybe throw Mandrill and War in that category with them.

  • tears of joy......

  • At times, I know that I feel down & feel hopeless...but I know that things happen for a reason....Had Maurice went on to college to become a doctor, we would not know the wonderful music of the three elements of the universe...and if Stevie would have been born with sight, we would not have known about his Innvervision.

  • Thanks for anything uploaded on,Earth Wind and Fire.

    Excellent.

  • Thank you for playing this EWF music is positve it has always lifted me up when I felt down and continues to helps me in life struggles............

  • This is one of my favorites, by todays standards, this would be considered "gospel music"! We need more good music like this!

  • @h1ydrippa yeah I agree, this was a BAND everybody played an instrument and you can see and tell by the sound not like today where you used voice machines and mixers, EWF the greatest along with the Isely Brothers and Cameo

  • La musica della mia giovinezza. Grandiosi, indimenticabili.

    Paolo ( Belluno - Italia )

  • @alaner777

    Do you understand Eff Off?!

People speak all languages on youtube. Read some posts. Why do you have to bring hate in here?

    Now...back to this beautiful song.

  • This is when music was music.

  • man, i got to go...this song is a tear jerker...especially when it's live

  • I love Faces

  • The 'Powerlight' album was good, definitely underrated. 'Side by Side', 'Fall in Love With Me', and 'Spread Your Love' may be the most notable from that L.P. but the album basically was an introduction to 80's EWF... similar to how 'Boogie Wonderland' was EWF's utilization of disco. In my view EWF is the best band of all time. Marvin Gaye is the best soloist of all time. My view of course.

  • magic music

  • theses are my boys who got us thru ...

  • one of my best from EWF

  • WHAT A NUMBER THANK YOU JESUS CHRIST MY SAVIOR FOR THIS FEELING OF BLISS. THANK YOU FOR POSTING WHAT CLASS PEOPLE KEEP YOUR FAITH HE WILL SOON BE HERE HEADS TO THE SKY.

  • Parle donc "English" maudit pepper !!

Le monde parle Anglais tu voit pas cris de cave,

    Long Live EW&F !!

  • @ newmonii VOUS AVEZ TOUT A FAIT RAISON CE GROUPE VOUS REND VRAIMENY OPTIMISTE DANS LE QUOTIDIEN CAR ILS ONT SOUVENT ET SURTOUT COMPOSES CES TITRES AVEC LEURS FOI ET PAS POUR FAIRE DU FRIC

  • SUPERBE SOUVENIRS DE EARTH WIND AND FIRE .LE MEILLEUR GROUPE

  • I love how they added the percussion in the begging it sounds so smooth

  • I wonder how Maurice White decided which lead vocals would fit the song better, his or Philip Bailey? Perhaps they worked out different takes in the studio or maybe the song was tailored to the singer.

  • Thant boy can SANG!

  • Phil was skin kneeeee.....But he maintains that voice....Love EW&F...Thanks for taking the time to put this one on.

  • @mytheropy Philip is no longer slim, God bless him, LOL but he still has that voice!

  • Incredible. These people were geniouses.

  • This is a great performance by one of my favorite bands. Thanks for the post.

  • this song always brought a positive energy to me in up and down times!!!

  • best band ever...

  • wow.

  • @newmonii

    we will see, maybe evil

  • @newmonii

they performed Evil and Power on the same show

  • Thank-you E.W.A.F very uplifting nice walk down memory lane

  • I love Earth Wind & Fire - no other group like them at all.

  • Philip Bailey in his prime!

  • I was always a fan of EWF until they went too pop/disco/mainstream for me and lost a lot of the rawness in their sound. It just became too polished, too commercial (i.e. songs like Boogie Wonderland, Let's Groove Tonight, Got to get you into my life.etc...ugh.)

Beautiful vocals and nice rhythm here!

  • I thought "Let's Groove Tonight" was good, though.

  • man, Faces, Raise and Powerlight were all excellent, people get locked into one groove and they can't appreciate growing or change, what were they supposed to make Open Your Eyes in 82?, sounds change and evolve...while the groove stays the same.

  • @1980Triumph , right. Oh, I forgot, that song "Love Goes On" is awesome!

  • @1980Triumph: i agree. I re-discovered the Raise album a few weeks back and this one stands really well compared to the 70s gems. And the production is marvelous.

  • @jeffbeck70

its a shame how people disreagard Raise, Powerlight, and Faces but they are excellent albums.

  • @1980Triumph I like these albums too, but you can tell the magic was fading. After All N' All, the pixie dust, eye of newt and wing of bat was getting stale. You can only tap the creative well so often. Hey, they had a marvelous ten year run that for my money left the greatest body of work in popular music history

  • @1980Triumph Isn't it? I have all three albums. I bought Raise, and Faces on cd, but I still have the albums. Powerlight came out when all of this house music, and other "whatever" came ouit. I love the song 'Fall In Love With Me'. The DJs just was not playing these songs. There was one radio station in the San Francisco Bay Area that really appreciated real R & B, and Soul, and that was KDIA. They played more than just one song from the albums, to give them great promotions. KDIA is gone.

  • @nutothis1

Raise and Powerlight were advanced for their time, Soul music was going in a different direction. Raise and Powerlight would of been masterpieces in 88-89-90 but they were almost 10 years ahead of their time.

  • @1980Triumph Raise was a great album but I didn't think Faces or Powerlight were that good...

  • @freein2339

All man I love Faces, you don't like Share your love or Sparkle -- the production and direction on those songs are magnificent. Powerlight also is good but the last song Miracles is altogether terrible. Overall I love those albums and don't understand the backlash

  • @1980Triumph Too many songs on Faces sounded the same and there were too many songs IMO..Sparkle I liked but I was not trilled by share your love...Powerlight I don't like at all...sorry...can't please everybody....

  • @freein2339

Funny cause that is what I like about Faces, the sound was seamless. I love Share Your Love, that blew me away. Powerlight doesn't have the charm of Raise! but I still like it, at the very least it was ahead of its time.

  • @1980Triumph I bought all three when they were originally released. To me every EWAF record is an event. I'm a big fan of The Promise and Avatar too

  • @1980Triumph it stopped at Powerlight for me.. my dad still has the vinyl Raise; he never opened it. It must have been a gift. lol

  • @erika2012vsu

I generally stop at Powerlight too, though there are 2 songs on Electric Universe I like and just a couple from the other albums........but yeah Powerlight is it for me too. Raise was great, he should of checked it out, he may of liked.

  • @1980Triumph Faces is one of my top three favorite Earth, Wind & Fire albums!!!!!

  • @1980Triumph I TOTALLY CONCUR!! There were some Great tunes on these records

  • @jeffbeck70 For me, "Faces" was, and still is, a very boring album. I don't even think it would have been good if it was condensed down to just a single LP.

I think "Raise" was a return to form and had a lot of energy. With "Changing Times", I was expecting a new exciting sound from EWF. But I was disappointed again by "Powerlight"- which to me sounded like leftovers from the "Faces" sessions (but Powerlight at least had some very good songs).

  • @hankaaron1961

Faces was an amazing album, the production was flawless, Powerlight too. I guess at this point it comes to tastes. I personally love every song but one on Faces and most of Powerlight

  • @hankaaron1961 i disagree "turn it into something good","take it to the sky" were very spiritual

  • @hankaaron1961 Man, I can feel you on "Faces", it seemed to lack that earthy, funky vibe that defined the EW&f sound but the production was pristine. For me "Powerlight" was hot- they brought everything to the table on that one. "Raise" was slick because it introduced the steel drum into their sonic arsenal and the song "Changing Times" I thought would take them into a new direction.

  • @hankaaron1961

I think there are great cuts on those albums but the flaws are obvious. I do like their use of theEmotions on the later albums. The production became a little too slick. The early albums are so spontaneous- jamming. I've always thought the success of "Boogie Wonderland" hurt the direction of the group. The later albums lose their world music touch. With that said two of the BEST EWF songs come from from "Powerlight" and "Raise: "The Speed of Love" and "My Love"..

  • @ jeffbeck70 ECOUTE ALORS LE TRAVAIL DE SPIRIT ALL NALL ET I AM THAT THE WAY OF THE WORLD OPEN YOUR EYES LES MEILLEURS

  • This song just blew me away. The lyrics, harmonies, melody. I played this repeatedly and it moved me. I am lost for words. All i can say is this music is timeless and universal. It touches the very core of my soul. EWF and all the great artists all i can say is just a simple thanks. You offer hope and therapy in times of adversity. THANKS.

  • Man look how young Phillip looked, they were just probably 5 or 6 years in the spotlight then. RIP Maurcie White!

  • Maurice White is very much alive, and celebrates his birthday today. Suggest you research the subject matter before posting any mis-informed comments.

  • Maurcie White passed??? I never knew that! My, my...

  • @slaxl

AHHH! when did Maurice White die? I checked Wikipedia and he is still living...please verify. Thanks.

  • He is alive, I have no idea why this person thought this, oh well

  • Could you please REMOVE your RIP comment. It isn't true. So, it isn't valid. You leaving it up is just you being a stubborn, lying, ignorant & childish individual. You know he isn't dead. So, take down the comment.

  • Take down this comment, man. You know he isn't dead. I'm sure M. White would appreciate you taking this shit down.

  • @slaxl You are either ignorant or lazy. Please get your facts right before you say anything. Maurice White is very much alive!

  • awesome, track sampled by "de la soul"

  • Wow! - thank you for posting this - God bless the internet and YouTube :-))

  • Man, where did you get this footage! I have been an E, W, & F fan since Maurice formed The Salty Peppers which evolved into the Elements of the Universe. This reminds me of the first time I saw them at State Univ. NY-Albany in 1972. Thanks for sharing this Gem! Time is on their side.

  • Don Kirshners Rock Concert 1974

  • OMG this is the best thing about youtube!! I am crying as I watch this musical magic!

  • I have been listening to this gem since 1974 and the feeling is still the same!!!

  • I hear you my brother,..may the 70's never die or be forgotten,...this sums up the feeling of the day,..love ,peace, soul,.......and good weed,.......

  • excellent forgoten classic

  • This is a TREASURE!!! Thank you for Posting this!!! Is there more footage from this concert? OMG...In their PRIME!!! All that youth and energy to help each other make to a better day, this song always inspired me to be the best person I could be.

  • EW&F deep as always doing it before their time. Phillip Bailey doing his thang.

  • can u say goose bumps

  • The first time I heard EWF was in 1971, when I was 11 years old. It was the song Love of Life. I knew I would be a fan FOR LIFE!!!

  • 2:44-3:11, UNBELIEVABLE!! People talk about the Temps and other motown acts concerning vocal harmonies, but I always sayt, "have you really heard Earth Wind and Fire?" Nobody has harmonies like this. Sheer beauty, and always puts a smile on my face.

  • I am 54. The first time I heard this song was as an 18 year old Army private. This song STILL has RELEVANCE in my life...after all these years. Thank God for EWF.

  • Phillip's vocal range is RIDICULOUS! My FAVORITE group EVER!!!!!!

  • So So Tight.................

  • i saw a segment they are in concert with a sign in the back letters tcb . they're doing time is on your side . does anybody have that show ??/?

  • I am feeling everybody with the meaning of this song and how it has served as both an inspiration and a persona witness because I also feel that, but.......Check out that percussion!!!!!!!! I mean these are REAL instruments and they know how to play them!!!! Earth, Wind & Fire is the best group ever!!!!!!!

  • he has the voice of a angel

  • With all the "want a be" out there it is sad none of the singers know how to sing real songs and not remix, This is when music was real and from the heart

  • I am only 28 and let me tell you God, blessed these brothas (and sista at the time this was recorded) to make this song. I mean this song is pertinent today and it is helping me get through medical school, I especial love the Afro-Latin feel of this version

  • Amen

  • I lost my career, my family, my hope..I grew up on EWF and got back into them and found this song a couple of yrs ago.

I literally had nothing, and this song was my most prized possesion. This song is the purest form of gospel. EWF and phillip reminded me to keep my head to the sky..and thank God things are looking much brighter. Sometimes, in your darkest hrs. you Need this message.

Thank God for EWF, ive loved them since i was 4yrs old..and it just grows with time.

    Peace and Blessings.

  • reading the previous comments reminded me yes , , always keep your head to the sky. Love to all people who have been moved by EWF.

  • Man this song got me through some of my darkest moments in my life especially last year and half of the year before. Its a medicine to any sick or unloved soul
